Today is the Victory Day!
80 years ago our ancestors defeated the army of nazis and fascists that had gained great might over the previous decades. Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers paid the ultimate price to give us the right to live - and live freely, not under the boot of a self-proclaimed "ubermensch". And it is true that there's no such a family in Russia - and previously in USSR - that wasn't touched by that terrible war.
That's why every Russian with self-respect keeps and honours the memory of our Soviet people who fought in the Great Patriotic War and crushed that "brown plague". It is literally the 2nd birthday for each one of us.
To put it simple and personal, had the Red Army and Soviet people not resisted, fought and triumphed, I wouldn't have existed. My mother wouldn't have been born. My Mom's parents (children at the time) would either have been killed (possibly drained out of blood for the nazi "knights of light") or taken away and into slavery.
That's how much May 9th means to me and mine.
Thus, my congratulations to friends and fellow folks!

Hi! Quick question, have you ever considered drawing the Averina twins? Seeing as you've got such a good eye for drawing an athletic build, I'm positive they'd look absolutely gorgeous in your style! I can almost picture it..
P.S. if I could commission you, I totallyyy would, but know that your art's life giving and it wouldn't be a lie if I said it saves me from myself :'))
Hi!
You mean Dina and Arina the rhythmic gymnasts?
Actually, I DID think of drawing quite a number of athletes, so I just might get down to this in the foreseeable future. Thanks for ringing the bell!
And THANK YOU for all your kind words! I'm truly happy to hear that my artwork can touch some strings and cheer someone up!

П.П. Бажов
Бажов Павел Петрович - русский и советский писатель, автор "Уральских сказов".
Его сказы очаровали меня ещё в малолетстве - и с годами любовь моя всё крепчает.
Bazhov Pavel Petrovich - Russian and Soviet writer, author of the "Tales from the Urals".
I was charmed by his tales back when I was a kid - and I love them more and more with time.

Today's the Birthday of Vladimir Vysotsky.
He was, indeed, a man of many gifts. His songs are always interesting to listen to: some bring a smile or a smirk to your lips while others touch so deep you get goosebumps. Pity that nowadays such mastery over words is hard to come across. Zheglov (portrayed by Vysotsky) in "The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed" is simply great.
A little art piece to pay my respects.

Vasilisa
“She dragged Vasilisa from the upper room and pushed her through the gates, took one skull with burning eyes off the fence, impaled it on a stick, gave it to her and said, "Here’s the fire for the stepmother’s daughters, take it - that’s what they sent you for, after all.”“
("Vasilisa the Fair”. A.N. Afanasiev’s collection of Russian folk tales.)
Repainted my Inktober piece in colour.

Hi, hope you're doing well. Your art is just gorgeous, the style is very unique and I just love it. I wanted to ask if you're still intending to finish your tarot deck? I really loved the red rising one, and then discovered your other deck, but I guess it's unfinished, I'd really love to see the whole deck, what's your plans for it?
Hi,
Doing pretty well, thanks!
Thank you for your kind words - truly happy to hear that you like my artwork!
Answering your question, YES! Quite a long time has passed since those two card sets had been painted, thus, I've started a new deck a while ago. Whereas I enjoy working on it, the process is slow. It takes time to gather thoughts and design cards with the satisfying result. But the bigger issue is that it's a personal project that has no financial support, so I need to work to make a living, and - sadly - not much time is left for Tarot. But I do plan to finish it.
I DO have a blog on Boosty - all interested and willing can support me there with a subscription or/and donation:
Thanks for asking, and have a lovely day!

Hi I just wanted to say I've been a huuuge fan ever since I saw your Holly Black artworks all those years back!! And now being on Tumblr and getting to see more of your art I've absolutely enjoyed your Russian costume and folk art. They're really gorgeous. And please don't get me started on the Ninth House ones, I might actually go on forever.
Also a big thank you because I see a little bit of myself (body type-wise speaking) in your art and that's so special to me. It's not as if the world of art owes me anything so every time I see a piece of art that in a way represents me I'm forever grateful for that. Lots of love!
Hi, thank you for your kind words! Truly happy to hear that you like my representation of Russian folklore and costume as well as book fanarts! Oh, that's lovely! It's really is special to know that my artwork can touch one's chords :) All the best!

Totally forgot that I haven't posted this piece there! Anyway, it was the best anime series I've watched in the latest few years.
And, btw, commissions are open! You can look up info there: https://phantomrin.tumblr.com/Commissions
