Scaring Sir Pentious was too easy you admit, but it was kind of funny too

The technique took a while to master, those smooth half-moon steps like a geisha, but the look on his face whenever you snuck up on him was priceless

You mostly do it when he's preoccupied in his workshop, fixing up one of his machines or fiddling with his Egg Bois

The anticipation of it was the best part- in your mind at least. Opening the door to his room so easily, sliding your feet along the floor, silent as a shadow

You shuffle slowly until you creep perfectly behind him, deciding whether to slap your hands on his shoulders or wait for him to turn around

Either way he's thoroughly shaken. He gets that playful sort of frustrated that he gets with you after you spook him

"I wish you'd find other hobbies that don't involve frightening my dear"

You always had the same response, all said with a sly smile. "I have plenty hobbies darling, I just find this one the most humorous."

He'd raise an eyebrow then, and ask what they were. You would always choose the most absurd ones you could think of

"Oh you know, mahjong clacking, paper folding, competitive fifty-two pick-up." Sir Pentious never got the jokes half the time.

After one good scare Sir Pentious chose to sneak after you for a change

Slowly, he crept up the stairs onto your floor, trailing behind you as you slipped into your room.

Inch by inch he went until he found your door, holding his breath as he opened it. The sight he saw was so peculiar he kept that breath stuck in his mouth, lest he laughed

Alone you sat on the floor of your room, idly painting on something you found. Your walls decorated in loose watercolors and drawings, papers surrounding you with curled edges from wetting and drying.

He slithered near you before he sat down, looking at the tiny creation you held in your palm with reverence

"You know you're not as quiet as you think you are." You said, still paying attention to your piece

Sir Pentious began to stutter before you gave him a smile. "'M only teasing," you leaned your head on his shoulder, showing him what you'd been working on

"It's wonderful." His eyes grew shiny as he looked at the drawings that graced your walls, "How come you never showed me these, darling?"

"You never asked," you shrugged. You blew gently on the paint before placing the piece on a drying sheet before leaning into him again.

"Well, I think its a lovely thing to do" He kissed your head. "Perhaps I could join you sometimes when you do this? Though I'm not sure I'd be any good at it."

You chuckled, "I'm sure you'd be wonderful at it" before kissing his cheek

The both of you leaned into each other, him savoring your warmth and you savoring the contact

"Perhaps this means you can put more energy into your artworks than scaring me?"

"Not a chance in hell my love."

10 Tips for Writing (Good) Smut

so. let’s do this.

About a year ago, I had to read a book for my school’s summer reading assignment called How to Read Literature Like a Professor by Thomas Foster. It’s not a bad book, pretty decent actually, but there was this one chapter about sex scenes in literature. And one of the first sentences was along the lines of “writing sex is boring.”

and I did a double-take. Bc in my experience, that is absolutely not the case, and if you do find yourself bored while writing smut, then you’re not doing it right. See, Thomas’s main argument was that there’s only so many ways you can write sex scenes, because there’s only so many sex acts you can choose from. (My boy Thomas is clearly a vanilla dude, but let’s not hold that against him.) 

But one of the most important things to keep in mind while writing smut is that it’s not necessarily just about the act itself. So while Thomas is right that there are limits as to how many ways ppl can have sex, he failed to realize that writing sex is about a LOT more than that. And I’m gonna prove it to you.
