Totally normal about the possibility that Gloreth didn't actually found the Institute.

That it was the adults around her that did. Propping her up as a figurehead as they constructed a narrative about what they thought they saw (with clever memory-holing about their role in it). A narrative that would snowball into a story that turns this literal child with a wooden sword into a full-grown knight in shining armor.

And as that narrative formed, Gloreth just kept quiet. Kept quiet to everyone including her own kids.

Maybe she initially protested, but such protests would be dismissed as modest... or looked at suspiciously until she shut up.

Maybe once she and the narrative got the attention of the nobility, she enjoyed the boost she got in status too much to complain... or maybe she didn't want to risk it for the sake of her family.

Maybe as the narrative grew, she herself eventually grew to resent Nimona... or maybe she'd continue to wonder what could've been had she not picked up that sword.

Nimona and Shera are from ND Stevenson so I'd like to think that if Gloreth turned around for Nimona (in my Reconciliation Au) their dynamic and look is similar to Catradora ☝️ coincidence? i think not!!

Also, I would love to participate in the stuff people tag me on but I'm on a rush on doing stuff for uni (i just rushed this piece today even after working on it for like 15 mins a day for a week) so I'm just saying thanks for remembering me 😭

A Shapeshifter's Anxieties (Part 2/2)

Finally, a satisfying conclusion to this week-long agony since the first part 😩 I put extra care in the colors and background design, maybe to just maximize the feel of Nimona's anxieties. If you haven't noticed yet, the colors correspond to the tonal shift of Nimona's emotions

RECONCILIATION AU: I have this idea for an alternate universe because I like thinking about the what ifs...

Ever since the village burned down, Gloreth fumbled about her decision to turn on her only friend. Was it the surge of emotions from the shrieks and scream of the townsfolk? Perhaps it is the right thing to do so, she believes, but something doesn't seem right. Nevertheless, Gloreth grew up under the influence of a forming institution that relentlessly scouts her to become the figurehead. The pressure from the community pushed her to take the 'moral ground' and accept the opportunity to start a legacy. All those years she has taught herself to resent Nimona, to adhere to the needs of her people but deep inside she hopes for a friend she once saw in a "monster".

Years later, the institution is established. The walls are built. Gloreth is the legend. All of these are challenged after the chance encounter with her old friend. Nimona took the form of a young adult in hopes that they can see eye to eye. Is she still evil as they saw her 18 years ago? Will Gloreth turn on her this time around?

Gloreth's armor is inspired by the comic!Gloreth, her statue, and Ambrosius' all together.
