i really admire your commitment to real feminist action, but i’m a baby radfem and i don’t have as many resources as some adults :,) do you have any advice for things that might be accessible for me/other girls my age to do? i hate just sitting on tumblr or reading in my room

hi :) I strongly believe that it's really not healthy for young girls (or really anyone if it's to the point of obsession) to spend a lot of time in these online spaces, which can focus very heavily on male violence and the horror of patriarchy. my biggest suggestion to you would be a version of what is my biggest suggestion to all women and girls - do your best to surround yourself with other women who you have fun with. friendship, fun, idea exchange, being in each others lives, this is the core of feminist community. in a passion for friends, Janice Raymond says women together are not women alone.

as far as more general ideas, volunteering at an animal shelter, seeing what events your local library has, starting a book club, starting another social gathering with your interests (video games, cooking, crafts, etc).

feminist activities you can do with friends: fundraising with your crafts or baked goods to make money to send to feminist organizations, making feminist art together, stickering, making and taking food to homeless women

it's always good to learn and feminism is a rich and complex ideology with a lot of texts to explore. but a feminist practice is about being women together figuring out a way to thrive in a patriarchal world

also i'm in a bit of a rush because I'm getting ready to go to a woman's event, so I'm sure other women might have more ideas for you too :)
