Split is really pretty, but it’s super cold. Croatia is covered in graffiti literally everywhere it’s kinda gross. The Diocletian area was super nice but very touristy. All the food in Croatia is uber inexpensive it’s so nice.

We got to Troyes Thursday night. First we went to a WWI memorial. Troyes is very pretty and small, it’s like if you could walk to Cameron Village, the Rose Garden, Umstead Park, and North Hills all within an hour. The cars are smaller and more easter egg than in Germany. They eat bread with every meal and lunch on Friday there wasn’t bread so we had to pause and go to the bakery 100 meters away. In Troyes there is a church on every corner if not more often.

Yesterday we went to the Mathmatikum in downtown Geissen. It’s a museum that you do fun math games and puzzles. It was really empty right when we got there but after an hour a bunch of German and French school groups showed up. Then for dinner we had an american BBQ, Manfred was excited to wear his new grilling sweatshirt, and Simone’s daughter, Laura, and her husband, Max, came over and joined us. Laura is in a band that’s very popular in Germany, it does covers of the Top 40. I ate so much food I couldn’t even eat dessert. There’s a rooster that lives next door that starts cockadoodle dooing at like 5 in the afternoon all throughout dinner. After dinner I went with Nico and Lena to a bar/restaurant/movie theatre thing to get drinks. They didn’t even card me and I was low key disappointed. Their friend Michelle came and joined us, she really likes America so we mainly talked about that all night. After we got home we sat with everyone for after dinner drinks and a smoke. This lasted until about 1 in the morning.

Two days ago we flew from Raleigh, to Boston, to Ireland, and finally landed in Frankfurt 15 hours later. When we got to Germany my mom’s work friend, Manfred, picked us up and then got his key locked in his car. We got coffee in the airport while we waited for his assistant to bring him an extra key. An hour later we got in the car and drove on the Autobon to Geissen. Upon arrival we were shown around his home which is very pretty. Out front he has a coy pond filled with quite a few coy, and in the back there is a patio and cabana. They have two pugs and a cat, one pug has a hurt paw and the cat needed stitches because of a recent injury. Soon it was time to eat, and Simone, Manfred’s wife, had made us a feast. We ate and ate and ate and then ate some more. The jetlag and food and warm sun made us very sleepy but if we slept then we wouldn’t become accustom to the time change so we went for a walk. Manfred drove my parents and I to a little lake with a path around it. Since the weather was so nice, 60 degrees, there were lots of people fishing and little kids playing near the water. After returning home I got to meet Simone’s son, Nico, and his girlfriend, Lena. They were very welcoming and did their best to translate whenever anyone was speaking just German. I literally get so confused and try so hard to understand but I have absolutely no background of German. Everyone smokes and drinks and talks, that’s all we did the first night.

On Tuesday, 11/22/2016, I went to the Sall family farm to help Justice film a video of Momma Kwon and Joe Kwon teaching everyone how to make Kimchi. We got to the farm at about 10 in the morning and we started filming the volunteers harvesting the cabbage. These people were from the Jamie Kirk Hahn Foundation and they’re in charge of running the farm year round. After they harvested and washed the cabbage, they started brining it. Then they made the sauces. I got to eat venison/pork sausage that Kirk had made, which was amazing, and then later Joe Kwon had a pig picking and that’s the first pig picking I’d ever been to. I haven’t tried the Kimchi yet because it’s supposed to ferment for awhile, but when I get back from Bald Head I’m going to have some.

Today I completed quarter one of all of my classes. I got straight A’s. I’ve gotten straight A’s since 8th grade. It kind of sucks not going to school and being with everyone still. Like I almost didn’t get invited to my friend’s birthday party because she assumed I wasn’t in town. And my friends tell me that I’d probably be in the group chat if I went to Broughton, but I don’t so it’s not really relevant to me. I’m also kind of pissed because I have to wake up at 6 am Saturday morning and find someone to give me a ride home from the party so that I can go set up a yard sale all day. I’m going to sell basically everything in my room. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my panda lamp though because I really like him, but I don’t think he’ll fit in my new room. I’m so pumped about Wilmington, even more so now because I just found out that half my friends applied to UNCW and that would be so exciting if they actually went there.

I woke up this morning to my mom telling me I’ve lost all my rights. I expected to be hearing about the first female president. I’m pissed. Everyone on finsta is pissed. It’s not fun to look at Twitter. I’m annoyed by how ignorant our country is. I’m not a proud American anymore. I miss Obama.

I just spent this past weekend at Mia’s casa. I didn’t get any work done because my computer wouldn’t connect to her wifi but that’s okay. I got part of week 5 done before I left on Friday. I don’t feel like I’m being left out of my friends even though I don’t go to Broughton anymore. On Friday Gracen Mia and I went to our friends’ soccer games at XL from like 7 until 11. I only felt left out when they all talked about their teachers and all the work that they’d had to do. Saturday night I had to babysit while my friends went to a Halloween party. Then on Sunday I went Halloween shopping with Mary Livingston and Nelie and then went to this crazy decorated house in Historic Oakwood with Mason Mia and Hannah. On Monday Mia didn’t have to go to school so we spent the day getting ready for Halloween. We made a cool video with her “GoPro” and got fake eyelashes from rite aid. Dad picked me up from Mia’s and I went to grandmas and tried on mom’s cheerleading uniforms. I wore the blue Vikings one to Chipotle and got a $3 BOOrito. I woke up really sick this morning and now I’m about to finish week 5 of world history and then learn how to draw on my eyebrows probably. People have been giving me a lot of crap for moving, saying things like Wilmington is gay and that I won’t get into a good college because I won’t be at Broughton.

Sanford 10/26/2016
I’m sitting at a coffee shop in Sanford, I’ll be here from 11:30 until about 3. I just ordered a really dank flatbread breakfast sandwich with country ham egg and cheese. I’m about to start week 4 of world history and I will most likely finish it before I get picked up. It smells funky kind of like something burned but that’s okay. World history is really cool because I just learned about ancient Egypt and I’ve decided I want my own tomb. Today was the first day in like at least a week that I’ve woken up before 8:30. We were in the car for four hours and we still have another hour back to Raleigh. We’re going to check into an Airbnb rental on Pogue street and we will stay there tonight and tomorrow and then I’ll wake up Friday and check out and head to grandmas up the street and wait there for Mia to pick me up for the weekend. I moved seats like 20 minutes ago when it got insanely crowded so now I’m sitting at the bar. I don’t know where to pay and if they give me a bill or I go up to the cash register. This is the biggest problem I have right now. Also I have to write one last paper on the ancient floodplains and the major aspects and then I’ll be done with week 4. I have 40 minutes until 3 when mom is going to pick me up.
