“good to know,” she mumbles under her breath, only partially satisfied. ever since the break up, she’s felt a great amount of jealousy and curiosity whenever jessie would bring home other people. “no, no. all good here, it’s not like, y’know,” her game has sucked recently and it hurts her to admit it, so she resides “i’m, um, going out for drinks tonight at henrietta’s if you wanna join.”

she raises her brows a bit at that response, schooling the slight interest from her features at how much more genuine he now seems to be, looking more in his element here with all the other counselors as opposed to with the kids. of course, their interactions had been scarce up until now, but she very much pegged him as the boy scout type who didn’t really need a persona to put on while working. seeing him come off more…real and relaxed had something in bianca want to relax a bit more herself in his presence and she quickly shoved it down mentally, chalking it up to th weed already taking it’s affects. “that what your mommy tell you?” she quips back easily, though there’s something in the smirk tugging at her facial features that makes it come off as more playful. hearing the explanation and bribery that took place to get her here brings another perfectly raised brow, wondering what the hell he was playing at here, they hadn’t even officially spoken to each other up until today. “so it is my lucky day, then.” she muses sarcastically, resting her chin under her hand and batting her lashes up at him, tilting her head to the side a bit and making a grabby hand for the blunt once more. “did i look that much like shit earlier? that’s like, so sweet of you to notice.” she couldn’t help herself, taking a drag and trying to pretend not to feel his gaze on her as she did. his next question makes her scoff as she hands it back over to him. “no. no, i’m just here for the weed, not gonna go talking about my feelings and singing kumbaya, or whatever. ‘sides, bet all the shit talking counselors will be thrilled to tell you what they think my deal is…”

“you didn’t look like shit,” kennedy corrects, handing her the blunt with a smirk, “you were just cranky, and trust it wasn’t that hard to notice.” his face sort of fell when she refused to talk about herself, especially when she mentioned the other counselors. sure he had heard the talk, but that’s why he invited her, because he didn’t believe it.  “look,” he sighed, feeling smaller than before as he takes back the blunt, “that’s not what i’m trying to do. i’m just trying to get to know you, i don’t care why you’re here or anything, but you have to have some other personality trait than vodka in your water bottles and hating the outdoors. like who is bianca?” he talks with his hands before taking the last little drag of the blunt and putting it out in the sand. “besides, you can’t just let them talk. you have to set the record straight at some point.”

​“do we really gotta to go to a pumpkin patch, though? can’t we just buy one at the store? like…normal people?” barrel grumbled, dramatically throwing his head back as he groaned, waiting for the other. halloween always came with conflicting thoughts. he loved the vibes that it entailed but it also was his birthday, and he didn’t need to deal with all the existential shit that tended to lead to. 

“pumpkin patches are for normal people.” reese huffs, pushing him gently. “you know, like the white sorority girls and the milfs with the bratty kids.” she teases. “plus they have donuts and ciders to die for, so we’re going.”

a grin made its way onto her face as she began to collect her items. “my first shout out is just going to be you,” reese teased, unhooking the studio keys from the carabiner on her belt loop, “ruby bridges, the kindest, most down to earth person i know. a real philanthropic spirit.” a snicker bubbled out and she shook her head. “although i don’t think anyone would believe that anyway.”
