I miss you when I’m happy. I miss you when I want to do all these crazy things and I know you’d be the best one to do them with. I miss you when a sarcastic remark crosses my mind and I know that you’d be the only one who could come up with a comeback. I miss our layers and layers of inside jokes. I miss you when I discover a new song to vibe to, knowing well enough that you’re listening to it too. We memorized each other’s tastes so well without having to try so hard… without having to ask the other person “What’s your favorite color?” or “What do you fear the most?” No. With you, everything felt natural. Everything felt light. We never had to ask each other these obvious questions because we read each other too well. Our connection never needed translation. I miss you most when I’m the happiest. They say it’s hard to pinpoint if you miss the memories or the person. Maybe you’ll know the answer… when you finally feel whole and still, you miss them.
