im gonna make y’all meet my cringe af sherlock holmes ocs, who are blatant ripoffs of holmes and watson, starting with elizabeth hale, who, as you can probably tell from the pretentious fucking name, is my ripoff of holmes!!

so we meet her as someone who is moving into 221C with her friend (roslyn norton, who is my watson rip-off), and while we almost immediately are introduced to roslyn, elizabeth doesn’t present herself to the 221B household until quite some time after they have moved in. when she does introduce herself, it’s with the solution to a v e r y time-sensitive case holmes was having severe difficulty solving and j u s t the right level of snark that holmes immediately hates her. he’s very suspicious of hale, and resents the fact watson seems to be great friends with both norton and hale. watson doesn’t understand why holmes doesn’t like hale, because he thinks she has very irene adler vibes. holmes thinks shes far too much Like Him for it to be a coincidence. eventually, he actually runs into her while on a case, and deduces she’s also a consulting detective, which pisses him off, until they share notes and actually solve the case twice as fast than if they had been working alone. holmes doesn’t feel the need to protect her the way he does watson, and sometimes feels he could use some help in some of the more,,, disreputable places his investigations take him. it takes a while to convince her but once watson finds out holmes is doing the next best thing to making a friend, he and norton collude together to get them to work together.

holmes gradually becomes quite fond of hale (platonically, i hc all versions of holmes as homosexual and aspec), and they actually begin to spend quite a bit of time together, on and off of cases. (they drive watson and norton twice as mad but at least they have each other to bitch about their insane detectives with).

BUT

we as readers know that not only is hale a criminal-for-hire as opposed to a detective-for-hire, but she is responsible for the majority of the crimes she helps holmes solve, pinning them on other people (which is what she is hired to do). the whole reason she moved to london (she’s from cork lmao of course) was because she was hired to frame holmes for the murder of john watson. she has roslyn fooled into thinking she’s a detective, and while roslyn is very intelligent (she’s a doctor too, baby! that’s a whole other plotpoint for victorian!norton but shh) she is also madly in love with hale and is subconsciously turning a blind eye to all the tell tale signs. to be fair to watson, holmes has turned up covered in blood many times and not been guilty of anything, so he doesnt suspect either. once holmes gets over his initial misgivings, he is so confident in his ability to read people that he trusts her implicitly.

the whole murdering watson plotline is really long and rambly and y’all dont wanna hear it but yeah it involves a mess of romances, betrayals, and depending on which era it’s set in, a multitude of accusations on holmes.

hey remember when i said i was making a self insert oc because fuck cringe culture i want to be in star trek?

she’s here, she’s queer, and she’s half aLIEN

her name is gráinne mhic-l’ry, her dad is a human, her mum (who’s last name she took) is from a planet/species of my own design which i’m still trying to work out the kinks on lmao

they’re humanoid, with vaguely reptilian characteristics. their planet is damp, hot, humid, with Bad Storms. gráinne looks mostly human, but her body temp runs a lot lower than a humans and her metabolism slows down if she gets too cold (so she wears a lot of layers and jumpers where appropriate). she has scaly patches around her neck and torso, but human genes tend to be dominant over whatever species her mum is (i haven’t named them yet shhh (no i will not let her be half cardassian because i can’t hear cardassian without thinking kardashian and then i laugh so))

she is the resident pharmacist in the MEDBAY on the research ship. there is a chemists that is also equipped with non-starfleet personnel pharmacists, but lt commander mhic-l’ry is Not one of those. she functions the same way a pharmacist in the hospitals would, checking dosages and helping with rnd and stuff.

she’s an introvert, she’s pretty anxious but doesn’t have anxiety. she and captain dottie are the shortest crew members, coming in at five foot four. more info to come probably

so that story i wrote for the course that doubled as a character fleshing out kinda thing evolved into a sort of lesbian bonnie and clyde type situation but like,,, less extreme. and i feel like it’s now compulsory for me to attach the phrase ‘be gay, do crime’ to the pair of them

im writing a piece for a course and im kinda using it to flesh out raphaelle and ennor but i need to cut this sentance because it’s not contributing to anything but it’s cute as FUCK so here you go 

(raphaelle is trying to convince ennor to basically joyride raphaelle’s mom’s sailboat at three am)

dottie negga 

family : born to a human mother and father in the capital city on earth’s moon (the original site of the first colony), she has two older siblings (her brother is the eldest and her sister is the second eldest) who were also born on the moon, and two younger siblings who were born once they moved to earth (one younger sister and the youngest is their non binary sibling).

homeland : dottie doesn’t like to consider herself ‘from the moon’ because she moved to the greek countryside before she was one. i need to do more research on greece and where its most fertile land is because the family set up an olive orchard and started a buisness surrounding it. 

position on the research vessel : the captain, baby! it’s been her goal since the academy to have command of her own ship, and she’s delighted she managed to do it as fast as possible. she also has the best crew in the ‘fleet, according to her, but she might be a little biased. 

significant other : whoo boy this category is going to be difficult for some characters because relationships e v o l v e over the course of many years, but in the academy, she was friends-with-benefits with clarke, then they decided to drop it while on board the enterprise-j, remaining close friends. also maintaining a weird running joke/rumour that they may have fucked on the regular in the academy, but they don’t let on that they know about it. then, enter taylor. taylor is cute, very cute, but she’s also super close to clarke and that makes dottie jealous, which is weird because she’s not had problems with clarke’s other ‘s.o’s. eventually, clarke and taylor get together, dottie is pining over clarke until she realises she’s also pining over taylor, and in the end they all wind up a happy throuple. until taylor moves back to earth to complete her training and it all explodes again and shit gets complicated when they’re all assigned to the research vessel but that’s a whole other post. 

fun fact! : because she was born on the moon and then moved to earth with very little medical help (enough to keep her alive and comfortable because in this future the bare minimum doesn’t cost money, but full skeletal reinforcement is expensive and their parents had three kids to acclimatise to earth) she has very brittle bones! again, i need to do more research on that but yeah there you go fun fact

family : two moms, one brother, all of them against her launching herself into space. she does it anyways. 

homeplace : from a very busy household in one of the more rural parts of 24th (maybe 25th? idk how star trek timelines work half a century after the series furthest in the future) madagascar.

role on board the research ship : head of the microbiology department! she’s a bit mad, but in a good way. it makes people like her, and that makes her a Good Boss. she much prefers labwork to the management side, but she worked hard for her command pips (i like the pips more than the braids ok don’t kill me) and she’ll be damned if she doesn’t get the best out of them. also, nicer room perks. 

significant other : has been dating commander baxu since long before the academy. they WOULD get married but who has the time when there’s cool microbes to be gawked at??? (ennor doesn’t mind, she’s equally preoccupied)

fun fact! : she has a boating license! i need to do more research on boating and the laws surrounding it but yeah, she has a boat on earth, which originally belonged to her Neny ( i don’t speak malagasy but google translate helps me out ok if anyone knows better hmu)

ennor baxu 

family : the daughter of a vulcan ambassador for earth and a betazoid ambassador for earth. she is an only child.

homeplace : her parents settled in madagascar once her mother gave birth to her and decided it was illogical for her and her husband to continue living between three planets. since they spent the most time on earth, that was where is was most logical to live. (also her husband had really enjoyed himself when they’d gone to a delegation in Antananarivo several years previously but shh)

role onboard the research ship: she’s chief science officer! she’s the only one with the emotional and intellectual strength to manage the entire scientific department on a scientifically-driven mission.

significant other :yes! she’s been in a long-term relationship with head of the microbiology department, raphaëlle tolia, whom she’s known since childhood. 

fun fact! : she and clarke are lowkey rivals. they don’t have similar jobs, and they’re not interested in competing for emotional reasons because v u l c a n s but they will fight eachother for stupid things like ‘best taste in classical human music’ and ‘best at orion water hockey’ and stuff like that
