“This—” Draco’s voice trips rough, matching the snag of his hair on the stone wall he’s getting sucked off against and the hand he’s got brambled in Potter’s curls—everything tangled, everything— “does not excuse you stealing from my storeroom.”

His thief pulls off, beaming sunlight. Levers back on his heels like the cat who got the—well, nearly there. Navy dress robes (Draco’s, fuck’s sake) pool around Potter’s knees like holy water. An obscene, fallen halo. Merlin knows they’ll need it.

Potter tips the last of the pilfered Felix down his apparently gagless throat. “Why do you think I stole it?”

A harp-wielding dwarf sat on Harry’s chest, its prey captured:

“. . .You’re stealing my heart,

Like an arrow in the dark,

I’m so lucky to call you my sweetheart.”

Long after all the witnesses had cleared off and the dwarf took its next target, Harry laid there with his eyes closed. He knew by sound alone the footsteps that approached above his head. Sure enough, Draco stood upside down over him, triumphant smirk in place.

“That was so embarrassing,” Harry said.

“What’s the matter, Potter?” Draco squatted down. “You didn’t like my awful poem?”

“You rhymed heart with heart.” Harry shrugged. “That’s just lazy.”

Draco’s smirk fell. “You take that back.”

In a flash, Harry was up on his feet and running. His thundering footfalls were echoed to his rear. Unbidden, the laugh he’d been holding back erupted from him.

“YOU TAKE THAT BACK!” Draco yelled, but he was laughing too.

Draco Malfoy knew the room of hidden things better then anyone else in that school, when the fire started he could have taken off and gotten out on his own if he really wanted.

Instead he stayed back and almost died trying to drag Gregory’s unconscious body to safety, and when Harry came by on his broom he only failed to pull Draco up onto the broom the first time because Draco refused to let go of his friend and Harry couldn’t lift them both.

One of the biggest things to annoy me is how Harry has been proven to have a keen eye for shady shit.

He noticed Severus’ injured leg and put 2 and 2 together easily on why it was injured. Ron and Hermione didn’t notice that.

He knew Malfoy had joined the Death Eaters and that he was on some secret mission during school. Ron and Hermione insist he’s imagining things.

He knew that Luna hadn’t been in her bedroom in months based upon the amount of dust on her furniture. Again, Ron and Hermione didn’t notice shit.

Yet despite how often he’s shown to be fucking RIGHT when he says something shady is up, he gets gaslighted into believing he’s making shit up and doesn’t know what he’s talking about. This is a repeated pattern and it annoys me so much!

Harry’s head lolls on Weasley’s shoulder, fingers curled into blood-streaked blue robes.

“Won’t have long,” Weasley says through clenched teeth. “Ten seconds?”

Draco leans in. Harry’s eyelashes flutter.

“Stop fighting. This is Mungo’s. You’re with Ron.” Draco touches Harry’s face. “I have your wedding band. I won’t leave. Weasley? Now.”

We’ll keep it brief, he and Draco agreed after they had fallen into bed with each other on the job.

“I’ll see you soon,” Harry promised when he kissed Draco next in parting.

“Forever,” Draco spoke on their wedding day.

Malfoy's pleading for his life. There's no moment of decision, just instinct. Harry has just risked himself and his friends to save Draco, he's not letting some random Death Eater ruin that. The Stunner hits true. Draco's beaming smile is unlike anything Harry's ever seen but there's no time. Ron punching Malfoy snaps Harry out of his brief lapse. After, he'll think about it after.

For someone so mouthy, Malfoy keeps it brief—Potter, cupboard, now.

Harry tries to sulk for all of two seconds before trotting after him. Comes full circle, crams himself into the dark.

Malfoy’s mouth is preoccupied, but he makes full use of the silence—turns Harry’s throat inside out, timeless.

. . .

He shoves Potter to his knees, the taste of him still warm on his tongue. Potter always goes pliant after he comes—opens obediently, loses his bite.

Draco’s breath clings to the dust, this room a bubble in reverse.

He draws it out—fills Potter’s whole existence, if only briefly.
