re: pokegyns & nuancefem projects
hiiii so things are pretty chaotic right now since i, lay, manage these projects but i started a new job and i'm going through a loooot of life stress that is a bit hard to juggle on top of creative projects.
this means that we'll be taking longer to put out zines & other creative nuancefem stuff, and things may come out a lot more randomly. buuuut the more financial security i get, the more i'll be able to fund these nuancefem projects for us including zine projects, video projects, articles, etc!! i feel terrible asking anyone to volunteer time for free, so i do really value being able to fund things properly even if it's just small giftcards and i'd rather wait things out or do things on a smaller scale. things are hard financially rn but this new job is very promising, so i might be slower to put things out there or update y'all but awesome things WILL happen down the line!
i need to embrace a more fluid way of being creative while i go through a very chaotic part of my life. if you're interested in submitting art, being interviewed, writing for our projects, etc anything submitted would be published more casually on this blog rather than more fancy zine projects and wouldn't involve giftcards until i settle a bit more in life. if you do want to support the project, feel free to donate on kofi and mention in notes how you want the money to be used!! we can gift it to artists, writers, etc to keep things going. i just need to be a bit more strategic for now.
really appreciate all the gyns who have been participating in my crazy little projects. thank you for being so patient with me thru it all <33

Anon, i made that page. I am someone who was staunchly against cross sex hrt for years, and am now on it for health reasons. I *know* al the critical arguments. Exceptionally well, as i have spewed basically any of them that you can think of. I was *hardline* against it. As pikachu said, this is an informal project. My article was not saying there is no risks, and i say multiple times. However, this is not the focus of the article. If you’re here on this blog, in these social spaces, you can find easily find many negatives about t(which i do directly encourage people to find and consider. Its just -not the point of this article). And for some people, the last thing we need is every single source that aligns with our more tra critical views to just be about how t has hurt people.
Just like how some detrans ppl are recovering from tra bullshit, some of us are recovering from hardline anti trans radfem and gencrit bullshit that pushed us for years to stay in a dangerous health position to align with *our* politics.
I see no reason to indirectly belittle the experiences of people in my position by not giving us the equal space to air out things regarding our needs. Again, no where did I erase the fact some people regret t, or that it isnt a fit for everyones health. I didnt say “t is literally a superfood omg go get it now.” I was bringing light to experiences like my own, and i am not comfortable with the idea of needing to talk just as extensively at the same time about those who t is not a fit for while doing so. Respectfully, genuinely, thats the same sort of expectation that tras unfairly impose on detrans people who only share their negative experiences, which is something i think is IMPORTANT TO PROTECT. Like, not everyones focus needs to be talking about everyone elses experiences at the same time, whats important is not *erasing* those others, and i completely stand by my article and its framing.

I applaud the pokegyn’s focus on nuance. However I feel y’all have missed the mark a little with the stuff about testosterone in your zine.
When TRAs are advocating for people to use hormones if they want them (and sometimes pushy towards “just try it!!!” and egg cracking stuff)
And radfems often talk about the way detrans people regret using testosterone, and the medical issues it can cause, the “nuanced” position is not “look at these health benefits!”
It’s not wrong to mention the benefits some people get from it. But in a situation where you don’t mention the negative effects, just that “some people regret it”, you’ve ignored nuance. If you want to objectively present stuff in a nuanced way, you’ve gotta actually do it.
(I like y’all, this is criticism and not rage)
that is completely fair anon!! thanks for reaching out.
honestly since we had a 100% detrans focused edition of the zine not so long ago we ended up going with some aspects that aren't typically talked about on radblr. a large amount of us are detrans women, so it's not meant to be from the pov of people who don't know the risks! i know we need to be mindful of the message though. we'll refine it over time, don't worry. we view this zine as a very experimental, ecclectic, "omg let's set a deadline just to see what we can make as a community! let's explore! let's make whatever we can within a month!" type challenge for ourselves as creatives. it's still absolutely a prototype for me (lay) since i'm really trying to just get back into making creative stuff at all after many years of being too depressed to really make anything. this zine is evolving all the time and we do really appreciate the feedback! i'm thinking maybe next year we'll keep the same monthly themes but then evolve them, refine them, go more indepth with them, be more precise yet still experimental in fun ways and be even more creative. if you have any kind of specifics on what you want to see - 10000% reach out to me @tirfpikachu i'd love to chat more about whatever aspects you think should be done in a different way next time or elaborated upon. i'll note things down in a google docs or smth for next year.
i'm trying to boost the voices of those who are interested in the project and in the little nuancefem movement we're trying to build, building bridges, going through those messy conversations and interactions and experimenting with what holds water and what doesn't, what waters down the message and what strengthens it. we're always growing and we want to show a more complete picture over time. you can feel free to join our nuancefem community on here and bring up your ideas! just make sure to be creative with it too. how would you compare it? what would you want the vibe to be? how do we compare trans experiences vs detrans experiences in a nuanced, complex, healthy way? i'm always taking notes. trust me, i have reverse dysphoria, i regret my experiences, i know if i had gotten the community building i needed at the time my life would've been radically better so we don't have a yolo attitude about it all. we also have rad-leaning trans folks on the team who have pretty complex experiences. we're still trying to find a happy middle ground.
really appreciate the input! 🫶

I AM LOOKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hi, hello. i am LOOKING. 👁️w👁️
FOR A NUANCEFEM VIDEO EDITOR
CRITERIA:
MUST be somewhere where canadian dollars are equal or above, i absolutely REFUSE to underpay some poor usamerican. sorry
MUST align as a TIRF and/or a nuancefem
MUST have a very casual interview first
MUST be willing to finish at least one video a month
potentially will manage my streams as well once a week
this will be a LONG-TERM THING
MUST have plenty of experience and be SKILLED at video editing, art, writing, music making, and website design. or willing to go through courses to learn the basics! there will be a small test.
serious inquiry only pls & thank yew
pokegyns squad members WILL be prioritized
the vibe on youtube we'll be going for is miggy with the mcelroys, lexian with markiplier, etc.
it's 100% ok if you must take breaks occasionally! so long as you're willing to find someone else to temporary take ur place. if the workload ever gets too much, lmk and we can find a 2nd person.
i need someone who is consistent, reliable and incredibly silly. you will be made to watch things no human being should be put through, my raw youtube video footage and potentially several other things.
you will get custom art made of yourself and have a canonical nonsensical connection to me under an alias as my editor on my youtube channel and my @nuancefem blog, which i shall be wiping clean next week-ish to start using it as a more tidy creative space, which in part will be collaborative and have arg elements. we are currently working on a website to use instead of tunglr/substack.
please reach out on discord @ bunnyrats. thanks :]

Hello! I am a graduate student researcher in linguistics. I am sending out an online survey for a research study titled Perceptions of Neopronouns to collect data on people’s perceptions of neopronouns and LGBTQ+ pronoun usage. Please consider taking it if you are fluent in English and are 18 or older. You do not need to be LGBTQ+. It should take you about 10-15 minutes to complete. Thank you for helping me with my research project! https://unt.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9R188eTxX1Yi6J8
of course np, thanks for reaching out! <3
