UPDATE:
Over the last 4 hours, I've been building a pepakura model of a Warlock's helmet in Destiny, since I'm never happy with having just one cosplay from this game. I should be able to finish the model tomorrow, as the majority of it is build. After that, I'll coat it in polyester resin to strengthen it a bit, coat the inside with Rondo (a homemade mixture of polyester resin and Bondo auto body filler) to make it practically bulletproof, then try casting it. That's all. Bye!

51. Cast Hunter's Knife
Etsy Page: Link
Yay! I am finally on the level of mas production! Just on Sunday, I cast my first hunter's knife from Destiny, and have cast 3 more since! One of the bumps I encountered along the way with this project was making the second half of the mold, as my mold release didn't work. Essentially, I was stuck with a big, expensive block of silicone rubber. But, with a trick I'd previously saw in a tutorial, I cut a zig-zag pattern along the side of the mold, made it a little deeper, and finally pried out the original foam copy. Then, it was a simple matter of pouring in some resin and cleaning up the copies. And, since they're plastic, they can be spray painted! Unfortunately, with the nylon rope around the handle, the top hole for your pinkie is a little tight; I had to cut myself out of the finished casting above! Either way, I could barely be happier with my results, and I hope whoever buys these casts is too. Bye!

UPDATE:
The Pocket Infinity is almost finished! All I need to do now is paint the light grey areas and a few details.

UPDATE:
Okay, so I'm actually leaving on Saturday, so I have one more day to work with. I've done the black and grey parts of the gun, and a bit of the gold, but I still have most of back to finish.

UPDATE:
I've just primed the Pocket Infinity. Since tomorrow I'm leaving for Chelan, where I will have my photoshoot for the Hunter cosplay, I've got to paint this one pretty fast, and some of the details I might leave off until I get back, so I can make it properly. That's all. Bye!

UPDATE:
I've finished carving the Pocket Infinity, for the most part, today. All that's left are the pipes that you can see in the reference picture above, which I think I'll make out of jewelry wire, since it'll be the right color and flexibility to form it into the pipes. That is all. Bye!

I've decided to make the Pocket Infinity fusion rifle instead of the Monte Carlo. I've got the top assembly and the rail and scope carved out, but not much else.

I believe I've found the most stupid thing anyone has ever put effort into.

UPDATE:
On the news of the Monte Carlo, sanding it was a horrible idea, as it ruined the swirly carving on one side, and left cavities elsewhere on the prop. I've decided to start over completely on the prop, this time marking it out with washable marker, which I'll remove prior to painting. But more importantly, my silicone and resin will arrive tomorrow, so I've already built up the box mold I'll be using and built up a clay bed for the knife to stay on while I'm making the first half of the mold. It should take two days to make the mold, and a day to cast it. Then I can paint it up and add the rope around the handle. Since the resin and all is so expensive, I'll also be selling some castings on Etsy. I'll aim for 5 castings sold, each for 40 dollars, which is REALLY affordable compared to the other ones on there. That is all. Bye! Also, I'll link to the Etsy page once they're finished.

UPDATE:
Welp, I applied a second primer in some spots and painted over it again, but nothing. Now, the sharpie AND some spots from the primer are visible. I might just sand down the parts with the sharpie, as a last ditch attempt, and put on one last coat, but that's my last idea. After that, I'll just finish it up and know that I did everything I could to fix it. That's all. Bye!

UPDATE:
I've made a lot of progress since last update. There's still a lot to do, though; I have to install the acrylic to the scope, clean up the paint by the top, add the details to it, like screws and emblems, and I want to mask the sharpie marks that are still annoying visible through TWO COATS OF PAINT. That is all. Bye!

UPDATE:
The Monte Carlo, as you can see, is completely carved. Since this prop has quickly become a labor of love for me, I've even gone the extra mile and thermoformed a piece of acrylic so it's curved to the scope, just like in the game. I've also primed it already, so it's ready for painting. Clearly, anticipation for Destiny is an excellent catalyst for prop making, compared to the time I took on the Archer. At this rate, it could be done by Monday! Anyway, that's all I've got. Bye!

UPDATE:
Been working on the Monte Carlo today. Most of both sides are done, as well as the blade, so all that's left is the scope and a few details on the magazine. I'll keep you posted.

50. Archer Heavy Rocket Launcher
Well here we are again; it's always such a pleasure. It's finally done! This prop honestly required a ton of work in every field. The barrel is two sheets of foam glued together, and the majority details are additional foam pieces glued on. You'd think the sight would be pretty easy to make, right? Wrong. Because it's just a small piece of foam hanging off the size of this massive prop, it's broken off innumerable times. Also, it was a massive challenge to make sure everything was smooth and nice, which is always hard on cylinders, especially something of this size. Painting was probably the worst, since the Archer has so much surface area. I also lost my inspiration to finish the prop half-way through making it, since after playing the Destiny beta, every other video game seemed dull and repetitive. Also, painting the reticle was difficult, as the paint wouldn't stick to the acrylic. I solved this by scraping up the areas on it that I'd paint with a piece of metal, giving the paint a rougher surface to adhere to. Ultimately, though, I'm very pleased with the results, and I'm glad I pulled through to finish it (mainly so I can get on to making the Monte Carlo for my Hunter cosplay photoshoot)!
