ML Fic: Soulmate Survey Part 26

I dedicate this chapter to all of the unfortunate fools like me that watched Loveater without assurance that Miracle queen would be coming out.

Marinette and Adrien found themselves sitting on a bench, holding the baguette sandwiches that they got from a nearby street vender. Marinette noticed that Adrien had not taken a bite of his food. Adrien had been staring intently at the tantalizing street food.

“Is something wrong with your sandwich?” The designer innocently commented, wondering why Adrien hadn’t started eating.

Adrien slipped out of his trance and turned to Marinette.

“Oh sorry, I just got nervous for a second. Excluding ice cream… I never really ate food from a cart before.” Adrien confessed.

Marinette looked at the boy skeptically.

“You haven’t?”

“Well most of the stuff is fast food and high in calories so my father never really approved of it. And then back when my mother was…” Adrien stopped for a moment.

“Im sorry I didn’t mean to have you recall anything…”

“Oh no, its nothing bad. My mom was also protective. Super keen on checking health ratings. She would insist that the carts couldn’t possibly be sanitary enough for consumption of meat and vegetable products. Which sucked, because I really wanted some. They always looked so good.” Adrien chuckled.

“Well, now is a good time to see for yourself.” Marinette assured.

Adrien smiled as he lifted the food to his mouth. He was still nervous. Sure he knew it was fine, but part of him, the part his parents raised made him skeptical.

Marinette noticed the boy struggling. She held in a giggle, it was adorable to see this side of Adrien. Even he can get nervous about little things.

Marinette casually grabbed his sandwich from his hands and took a bite. Adrien was surprised by how quick the dark haired girl was able to move.

“It tastes pretty good. And it is perfectly safe.” Marinette says with a playful smile.

“You just did that to take a bite of my food.” Adrien pretend gasped.

“What? I would do no such thing.” Marinette cried out in mock hurt.

Adrien quickly snagged her sandwich and took a much larger bite.

“My food!”

“There now we are even.”

Marinette looked at Adrien with a knowing smile. Adrien noticed that he was able to finally try the street food that was moments ago, a wall he needed to overcome.

“Oh wow this is really good.”

“Welcome to the world of flavor and enjoyment.”

Adrien turns to Marinette and flashes her a smile that she could swear could give her a heart attack.

“Thank you Marinette.”

“Y-y-y-yelcome wou. Your comwel! You are welcome!” Marinette stumbled before covering her face.

Adrien chuckled slightly at the word stumble. Marinette was too adorable sometimes.

“Heres your sandwich back.”

Marinette took her food back and handed his back.

The two are about to dig in when they both freeze.

Adrien can see the bite mark Marinette left, as well as a bit of her lipgloss on bite mark.

Marinette could see Adrien’s impressive bite had overtaken her previous progress made on the sandwich.

Both teens couldn’t help but think that the lips of the other were just on the food. 

They both shake their thoughts on that out of their heads before they take a bite. They were just gonna ignore the butterflies in their stomach now as the thought of kissing was starting to sinks its claws in.

The two quickly finished eating and Marinette shot up.

“How about we go for a walk? Nice calm walk around the park. Sun is shining and everything is so nice.”

“Sounds really nice. Good way to relax after that nice lunch.” Adrien agreed as he stood up.

“Shall we carouse the peaceful park Madame Marinette?” Adrien politely inquired with a slight bow, selling his over the top action.

“Why yes Monsiour Adrien, that sounds quite exquisite.”

The two laugh at the bit before starting their walk. Both of them hoping for two things.

The first was that they could keep this good atmosphere going for the rest of the day. And the second was that Hawkmoth would take a damn day off.

So good news, it is in the works. And I’m gonna say, there is some Very tasty Lila Karma in it. As well as some Adrienette fluff.

Though I’m probably gonna wait till after Kwami buster has been out for a bit. Maybe on Monday the 14th. (Give people time to process the new episode)

Adrien is a well-educated child of anime. Marinette would definitely have that Scary Anime Smile and Adrien now fears that Marinette also has the power of anime on her side. He is a fearful child.

Adrien May be a well educated manga boy, but he is super naive. Lila is clearly evil and it took him 3 episodes in season 3 to see it and she is a subtle as a tank in a library.

Marinette would be fine.

The Ad Campaign

When Gabriel realizes that Ladybug has a thing for his son, he strategically sets up advertisements of Adrien shirtless all over the city, to distract her while she’s fighting the next akuma. It’s super effective!

Part two of a two-shot. 1100 words. Rated PG for mild comedic ogling.

     Adrien had been self-conscious all morning. It was normal for people to get excited about the new ads, and he was used to people whispering and blushing around him more than usual, but this time it was different. He’d never done a shirtless ad before, and even his friends were acting oddly around him afterward. Well, it was mostly Marinette that was being strange, and he didn’t want to ask her about it.

    He was relieved when an akuma was spotted. Finally! He’d felt like he’d been waiting forever for a chance to be someone else for a while. As soon as he reached the battle, he suspected something might be wrong with his partner. She had let herself get knocked around, which was unusual for her, but she was also in a terrible mood, not to mention very sunburned, though that probably had nothing to do with her current state.

    The second time he rescued her, he thought maybe she was sick, and that the redness in her cheeks was due to fever, not sunburn. By the fourth time he rescued her, he was seriously concerned.

    There were other odd things about her behavior that he couldn’t explain, too. She was awkward, distracted, and she’d spent almost the entire fight staring at him. He’d spent a lot of time imagining what Ladybug staring at him would be like. It was usually highly romantic and ended with him hugging his pillow and Plagg making retching noises in the background. It was nothing like the reality he now faced. Ladybug’s eyes bored into him, hard and slightly manic. He wasn’t sure what to make of it, and he wasn’t sure he was brave enough to ask her about it.

    They chased the akuma around a corner and found themselves face-to-face with another one of the ads. Why, oh why, did the akuma keep leading them back to these stupid things? Cat Noir was tempted to cataclysm it, but he stopped himself. It would raise too many questions.

    Ladybug seemed to having as strong of a reaction as he was having. She whipped around to him and starting staring again.

    And that was when he realized it. Ladybug hated Adrien. She wasn’t staring at Cat Noir, exactly. She was avoiding the billboards. She was disgusted by them, couldn’t even stand to look at pictures of him.

    He believed that for all of two minutes, until he found her after getting separated again. She was staring at a billboard, face redder than he’d yet seen it, openmouthed. He landed as quietly as he could next to her, but she shrieked anyway.

    "I wasn’t distracted!“ she screamed at him.

    "I never said anything about-”

    "I wasn’t staring!“ Her eyes flicked back toward the billboard before fixing on his face, desperate to prove wrong the new, tantalizing idea that was forming in his mind.

    "Let’s go akuma!” she yelled. “I mean, fight. Fight the akuma.”

    Cat Noir didn’t move, letting his gaze volley back and forth between her and the billboard. A sunburn, ha! She’d been blushing this whole time! Hate him? Ha!

    A smirk sprouted on Cat Noir’s face. “You think he’s attractive, don’t you?”

    "No!“

    Cat Noir leaned in, letting her flustered, red face fill his vision. "You have a massive crush on him, don’t you?”

    "NO!“

    That was all he needed to hear. Next time he saw his father, he was going to give him a big hug. Ladybug liked him! She thought he was handsome!

    "You want to stare at him all day, don’t you?” he asked, too giddy to stop himself, even when his partner gave him a menacing look. “Maybe you should sneak over to his house later. I bet he’ll let you stare at his muscles in person.”

    "Can we just fight the monster, please?“ Ladybug said. Every bit of her visible skin was a deep shade of crimson by now, and she was using a hand to block her view of the billboard, all pretense of not avoiding it gone.

    ”Abs-olutely.“ 

    Ladybug wrinkled her nose and jumped away, but that didn’t stop the stream of gleeful puns.

    "I can see why you like him so much, My Lady. He’s such a suit-able match for you.” This earned him a slap on the shoulder.

    When she told him to hurry up, he told her to keep her shirt on. When she lied about liking Adrien a second time, he joked about her being in denial of the naked truth. She threatened to toss him into the Seine for that one.

    Each joke made Ladybug angrier. (Though, when he accused Gabriel of being a very clothes-minded man, she laughed.) She got more ferocious with the akuma, and he finally realized that his puns were actually helping the fight. She focused on being angry instead of the on the ads, and it was clearing her head.

    One thing he couldn’t figure out: Why was she glancing at him with concern? He caught the brief pitying frowns she threw at him, between her angry scowls, and he wasn’t sure what they were for. He was having the time of his life, and it showed.

    Once they’d discovered the antidote was puns, the distraction of the billboards didn’t have much of an effect on their fighting. The battle took a little longer than normal, but they cleansed the akuma and set everything right within a few minutes, like they always did, and none of Paris seemed to be the wiser about the delay.

    They fistbumped atop the Pont Neuf, overlooking the river. Ladybug waited next to him as the white butterfly fluttered out of sight, completely harmless, and then rested a hand on his shoulder. “Thank you,” she said, voice earnest. “You really helped me focus.”

    That had honestly not been on his mind at all, but okay. “You’re welcome,” he said.

    "That was-“ She removed her hand and looked away, down toward the swirling water. Her hair hung limp and damp from her own swim a few minutes earlier. "Are you okay? We don’t have to talk about my crush on Adrien if it makes you uncomfortable,” she said quickly. “But that was probably difficult for you, and I wanted to you know I’m grateful for your help, and to make sure you were okay, and… yeah. Sorry.”

    So that’s what the pity had been about. She thought he was hiding his broken heart behind a wall of puns. To be fair, he did that a lot and she knew it, but NOT TODAY!

    "What can I say?“ He pulled himself up to his full height and threw out his chest impressively. "I’m an im-pec-able partner.”

    Ladybug knocked him off the bridge and straight into the river, and he smiled the whole way down.

Okay, so @pope-duwang-i left a comment ages ago (on ch 3 of Seeing Double) about Gabriel making a shirtless ad campaign when he realizes Ladybug has a thing for his son, to distract her while she’s fighting. And a few weeks later I made that pun about pecs, and then those two things combined together to form this beautiful monstrosity. (I’m not even sorry.)  Thanks for reading!

Miraculous Ladybug: Kingdom AU - WIP (Prologue)

Hello everyone. So for the next few weeks I’m going to be working on an AU for Miraculous Ladybug. This will be known as The Kingdom AU. I have many great ideas for this series and unfortionately due to my work schedule it may be 2-4 week release for each chapter. I’ve had this one in the back of my mind for some time now and it’s finally time I started working on it. Since I’m not completely heartless I’ll give you all a sneak peak at what I’m aiming to create. This will be a prologue to the series which will frame where the story will go.

Prologue

“Since the beginning of time, they have always existed. Each one representing a certain nature or emotion that helps keep everything in balance. Creation. Destruction. Order. Chaos. Reality. Illusion. Time. Space. Kindness. Anguish. The list goes on.

They existed as ethereal creatures that, up until Year C888; couldn’t interact with humanity. On that year, a Powerful Mage was able to not only commune with them, but was able to give them Physical forms through the use of Enchanted Mystical Objects of his own creation. These objects were very unique in nature. It is said that they would change form depending on who possessed them and is said to also change the person as well. An agreement was made between humanity and these creatures known as The Kwamis. In exchange of providing a means for the Kwamis to physically interact with the Physical World and Humanity, they would provide the Holders of the Enchanted Items with powers similar to the Nature of the Kwami.

Since the agreement, the items (later to be known as Miraculouses) were passed onto users deemed worthy by previous owners. (Originally the decision was done by The Sage but later let the Users make the choice. A Decision he would later regret). Over the past few centuries, there have been many wonderous Heroes that have been born as a result, however; there have been some that let themselves get consumed by the power and as a result became corrupted Villains.

For this reason, the decision was made that only The Supreme Sorcerer (The Mage) was allowed to choose the users. It has been 500 years since the Agreement and The Supreme Sorcerer, who while still alive due to his great power; is reaching the limits of his power and is barely able to push back the clock any longer to extend his already frail life.

The Year is X388. It has been 5 years since The Demon King, Sphingidae, also known as Hawkmoth appeared and begun his rise to power. With the Power of the Butterfly Miraculous, he has risen a never ending army of Elite Warriors known as The Akuma, and has used them to conquer over many Kingdoms. It is unknown as to how he obtained this power. Rumors include theft, defendant of a past owner, or simply that he killed the last owner. Over the recent years, the Rise of The Lumarian Empire came quickly with very few being able to put up some form of resistance.

A Recent Major Victory for the Lumarian Empire has resulted in the fall of The Resistances greatest hope against The Demon King. The Ladybug. With the death of The Ladybug & The Black Knight Noir, Ladybugs partner being MIA after the battle; The Supreme Sorcerer (who was able to reobtain The Ladybug Miraculous before the Lumarian Empire could claim it) journeys to Apoidia, Home of the Bee User and Last of the Resisting Kingdoms in the hopes of finding The Next Ladybug User.”

Okay so this is the prologue. I started writing this on my phone at midnight so I’ll probably tweak this several times tomorrow, but this is more or less the setup for the first chapter. As to when that will be released, I’m unsure but I’ll try to make it come out this month.

*Funny story, the original name of the Kingdom was going to be Lumaria but then I looked up the word and as a result had to give that to Hawkmoths Empire. Apparently Lumaria is a “genus of Moths”. Who knew? I literally made that name up and coincidently it was tied to Moths of all things. Apoidia is based off of Bees btw. The More You Know!*
