BEN Drowned

Past:

sacrificed by The Moon Children cult in 2006

was drowned in a lake in a forest in Maine

gets triggered by the mention of cults - but doesn't remember why

Behaviour:

Ben is extremely childish but outgoing and enjoys pranking people

is afraid of large bodies of water but also doesn't know why

is a good liar and manipulator, he likes to psychologically manipulate people, is also surprisingly intelligent

has a slight god complex - knows there are no repercussions for his actions because he's a spirit

because he doesn't remember anything from before, he thinks he's always been a spirit

Liked video games, specifically retro games (Legend of Zelda, Mario, Street Fighter, Pac-man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong etc)

Relationships:

he doesn't like Sally - finds her annoying and kind of creepy

gets on with Toby the most - they hang out a lot, have similar humour, and play games together

Abilities:

pretty powerful compared to most spirits because of demonic energies that were infused in his soul during the sacrifice

can control devices, possess devices & small objects & weak-minded people, can electrocute people, emits a buzz of static electricity

Liu was a reserved and well-behaved child: he stood up to the bullies because he wanted his little brother to like him

he constantly tried to please Jeff & see the good in him, even when he found his box of animal corpses

had nightmares about that night from 16-18

Sully is an imaginary friend created to help Liu cope, instead of an alter because of DID. Sully is a protective, brotherly figure to replace the brother Liu never had. He would often have delusions of Sully, bordering schizophrenic hallucinations.

Now:

attends therapy consistently

managed to let go of what happened, without being haunted by Jeff

he doesn't kill nor does he live in the forest

he's just a regular guy, trying to live a calm life as a florist

Behaviour:

isn't hostile to 'victims' and doesn't kill them - he takes what he needs while they sleep and leaves (administers anaesthesia and stitches them up after)

can suppress his demonic urges, but sometimes faces 'blackouts' where he attacks anything in sight (can't control it). They can last anywhere from days to weeks

is one of the most sane ones and is very similar to how he was before the ritual

he does sometimes experience depressive episodes

he fears himself and what he's become

most empathetic - chooses not to kill people, and often helps people who are injured or lost in the forests

he enjoys poetry and music (The Smiths, The Beatles, Joy Division, Bauhaus and similar)

Past:

follows the Chernabog (The Black God) cult story-line

was studying to be a paediatrician at UNMC in Nebraska in the 1980s

he never had many friends, so he felt inclined to accept Jenny's offer - he was also just excited to be a part of something

he remembers the entire thing - the ritual took place in 1986 in Nebraska National Forest, Bessey Ranger District

the demon possessing him is Chernabog, unknown how old - at least 2000 years old

he still wears the mask he took from a cultist - but is more of a hood than a mask

there are no tar dripping from eyes

is primarily a black hood with a blue circle for a face

he dislikes hot showers and liquids because it reminds him of tar being poured into his eyes

he has a discomfort around religion, ceremonies, and candles

Physiology:

constantly smells of blood, even slightly - it won't go away no matter how hard he scrubs his skin

he heals very quickly because of his demonic constitution - and he is immortal in the sense he will never age

he can still see - but it's blurry and spotted

his own strength and stamina frightens him

all his senses (except sight) are heightened to the max, which means he can get overwhelmed easily)

his voice box is kind of busted from screaming during the ritual, so he often speaks in a raspy whisper or speaks in a demonic two-toned voice

Relationships:

doesn't have much interest in relationships. If he was, he wouldn't talk much because he's scared of hurting people

he doesn't get along with the other inhabitants, nor does he like them

he does, however, like Sally - she reminds him of his own siblings and he has an affinity for children anyway (was studying to be a paediatrician)

Toby Rodgers

Personality:

has bipolar disorder - can switch between polar emotions very quickly (from cruel and sadistic to calm and neutral)

has border-line personality disorder - struggles to regulate and recognise his emotions

when he's murderous, is in a state of euphoria. This is his only reference to what he thinks 'happiness' feels like, but it's only because of high amounts of adrenaline

likes to prank people - will stalk victims for weeks and make them think they're crazy

has a slight god complex & is fond of himself - seen as cocky

is a very good manipulator and gains pity

Relationships:

is a valuable asset to The Operator because of his CIPA, but Toby is kind of scared of him because he hallucinates him often

shares a similar sadistic sense of humour as Jeff

him and Ben get along, playing pranks & playing video games

doesn't really care for romance - feels people are joking when they say they like him

Past:

same past as before

likes music (stuff similar to the Beatles) - his mum would play it for him after his dad's abusive outbursts

doesn't remember most of this because of his amnesia

but still often hallucinates Lyra's decomposed body

doesn't know who she is so just thinks it's because of his schizophrenia

some memories resurface - but the names & faces are gone. Remembers he had a mum, dad and sister and that his dad was abusive

was a bullied bully in school - enjoyed seeing people hurt and weak like he was at home, became an outlet for his repressed anger

Disorders:

Tourette's - his tics are mostly joint cracking, which leads to reduced grip strength so he usually drops his hatchets

Schizophrenia - has visual hallucinations, usually of Lyra or The Operator, this leads to manic episodes

BPD - has trouble regulating his emotions, doesn't like getting close to people, but is obsessive & possessive with who he is close with

impulsive & dangerous

is not in touch with reality

takes pride in what he does: keeps recordings of news reports, newspaper clippings

likes to keep photos of his victims & show them off to people

poses the bodies in dehumanising ways: usually in a kneeling position because it puts him in a higher position to them

never hides his tracks because he uses the gateway system to run/hide

doesn't plan his kills but often goes after families because of a deep-rooted jealousy

Likes to kill in the most painful ways possible: strangulation, bleeding to death etc

Solipsism:

reality is not 'real' in the sense of being external to him

thinks of himself as 'God' and the only real thing

Relationships:

love and friendships are like a game to him

it's funny to have someone follow him around like a dog & worship the ground he walks on

likes to manipulate people into staying with him, often trying to get pity for his face

The Operator is interested in him, but Jeff dismisses him

doesn't use the term 'friend' with people, just views them as entertainment and satisfaction for himself

as for Nina, he doesn't care for her. She feeds his ego and acts as a way to let his anger out. Also views her as a means to dispose of bodies when he needs to

similar to the 2011 storyline

but he pushed the bullies to light him on fire

doesn't regret what he did - both the fire and his parents - and would probably do it again

used to kill animals when he was younger: performed 'autopsies' on them and kept the remains in a box hidden in the yard

Is not actually a real thing

is a manifestation of the forests' energy

People who come into contact with this energy

experience extreme mental deterioration & delusions

causes the Sickness - which leads to them seeing the Operator

Proxies

already mentally unstable individuals who were exposed to the energy

they are rare to come by because most die by the hands of the energy

those who do become proxies have a split personality - their normal selves and their proxy self

has a mist surrounding it

The Forests

Forests all over the world, even some in the same countries, are connected

transportation between them are connected via gateways/portals

a gateway is marked between 2 trees with the following symbol

the symbol will never fade (regenerates itself) even if the tree is cut down (will latch onto the nearest tree)

The forests are conduits for supernatural/paranormal energy

you can find all types of 'mythical' creatures/creatures from folklore: wendigos, skinwalkers, elves, faeries etc.

these creatures usually stay deep in the forest, away from people

it's very rare to see them

People who enter the forests

they are never believed when they tell people what they saw/what they experienced

cult activity happens regularly near these sites

people will slowly lose their minds because of exposure to the energy

they wander around aimlessly and never last long
