Sometimes the path that we take isn't always the most traditional one, and that can be an interesting lesson to learn. I'll admit that this was something hard for me to learn. As I continue to pursue the things that I enjoy and cast aside the notion that your career should be the thing that is fulfilling your life, I am finding myself re-discovering my sense of identity. For years I prided myself on doing what others wanted, reaching achievements, and "making it happen".... but I was also burnout, exhausted, and felt very lonely on this journey. I found that while I gained a sense of accomplishment from these things, I never felt fulfilled by them. My 2021 year has been anything but ordinary. I've grown friendships, let some go, gained new hobbies, and stepped away from activities that no-longer fulfilled me. Along the way, I'm starting to finally learn who Karley is and what she wants out of life. While the first step into the unknown was one of the scariest I have made, I am so grateful for all of the growth I've had along this journey. While I will acknowledge that there is still much to learn, I am grateful for having the courage to forge my own path. Have you forged your own path in the things that fulfill you? Sometimes the path leads us in a different direction. Looking back over this year, I am amaze by just how much I have grown and changed this year. While it has been full of ups and downs, I've been able to push myself and grow to levels I didn't think we imaginable. I've been able to focus on healing myself and building goals for the future, not just surviving for the end of the week. The shift and growth in my mindset is one of my biggest takeaways from this new path in life. While I still have moments of uncertainty and fear, I know that I can focus on those things that are to my benefit. I am so grateful for all of the amazing support and reflection that has come from this community. You all really are the best. Every success starts with an idea. Big or small, it is that initial idea that leads us down the path to our goal and eventual success. When I first started sharing about my views on the equestrian mindset and success, I didn't expect for it to resonate with all of you! It is amazing that I now have 250 of you joining me on this journey! While I can hear some of you saying "Well 250 isn't a lot on social media...." Do what you love, and you'll never grow bored. I'll be the first to admit that not riding is absolutely soul crushing. When I left the sport, I knew that I needed a break. I was exhausted, burnout, struggling with my mental health, and the horses was the thread that connected it all. That being said, I'm grateful that I took this time away to understand how important horses are to me. I'm aware that the content on this page is shifting a bit, and that may not be your cup of tea. But, I'm coming to terms with the idea that I won't be owning a horse for a while now. While I will still be taking lessons, making consistent content from lessons is a huge challenge to do. Between that, working on my career, and planning for a move in January, I recognize that I need to do what is going to be right for me. As much as I love creating all of the equestrian content, I also love sharing my art. Don't worry, the horses aren't going away entirely, and I will still make text posts, blogs, and podcast episodes.... but I'm excited to continue sharing my hobbies, thoughts, and experiences with all of you! When you challenge yourself, it is amazing what you can push yourself to accomplish. I'm only a few days into this challenge, and I'm amazed by how much I am already learning. While it may sound cheesy, I'm enjoying getting to create every day, tell a story through my art, and interact with all of you! I do have some plans to draw Instagrammers as part of this art series. I think it is only fair to include this amazing equestrian community in my 365 days of art! I'm looking forwards to including all of you in on this journey. Are you truly who you intend to be? Through our lives, we are going to grow, change, and shift in our opinions of who you want to be. Yet in the moment, those all seem so far away, right? I want to run you through these questions to see if you're where you should be right now. ☑ Do you feel most satisfied with your day-to-day routine? While we are all going to have good and bad days, can you look back on your day and feel content about the choices you made and the experiences that you had. ☑ Are you working towards your goals? Do you have goals? Yes, we can be totally content in where we are, and also strive towards our goals. If you feel like you're no longer working towards your goals, or perhaps you find it hard to make goals, you may be in a place that is not to your best needs and intentions. ☑ Lastly, are you grateful for where you are and where you are going? It is important that we live each and every day with gratitude. Give thanks for where you are and where you want to be. Living with gratitude is a good indicator that you are where you currently intend to be while working towards your manifestations. If you found some of these questions hard to answer, perhaps it is time to re-evaluate your situation. While we all are going to have big goals and dreams, it is important to realize that our current state should be giving us the tools to help us towards those goals. Living as you intend to be is more than just having the success you seek, it is having your emotional, physical, and mental needs met so that you can continue to grow.
