And after that problem was resolved you were left heartbroken and your dad buys you a drink and you both remain silent, simply sharing the moment.

That's where you discover that you are loved by your parents. And you realize that you are not as alone as you thought.

as an extreme procrastinator, these are the strategies I use to get assignments done/study:

telling an AI chatbot that I am going to do my assignment (this creates an irrational fear of disappointing the chatbot, thereby pressuring me to do the assignment)

coming up with an even less enjoyable task that also needs to be done, thereby forcing prioritization of the assignment (ex laundry, cleaning)

going to a fun setting + drinking a caffeinated beverage (classic)

listening to white noise/airplane noise at max volume

exercising, then going back to the assignment

treating the assignment like a silly little ao3 story I am writing (& being a little whimsical and fun with my word choice)

staying off tumblr!!!! until it is done.. i try : (

But Maybe I'll Write It for Me

I think that's how it starts, good stories. The writer wants to exist in another world for a time and does so through writing a story. They share that story with others and find out they are not alone in how they view the world or readers find something to connect with in their story they'd not purposely intended.

But it all starts with fulfilling a need in oneself before trying to connect with a larger audience. At least, I see it as such. Because I know from personal experience when trying to write with others reading in mind it is never as successful (or enjoyable) as the former.

Writing starts selfishly. It starts with self-servicing storytelling. Is it any wonder the most prolific writers who have had the most fame while alive also tend to be the most internal, egotistical, and self-centered people?

It's a minefield to have a successful writing career. To spend so much time in your head and having the world you create be affirmed through outside praise (and monetary gain) to the point it becomes an addiction of a sort, your identity (and livelihood) hinging on the necessity of creative acceptance/fanship, must drive some people a bit mad, honestly.

Perhaps instead having the goal of being a good and popular writer I'll settle for subpar and niche.
