i will never understand how people who will talk about or write jegulus as being “regulus bullies and is mean to james and james just takes it” don’t realise that dynamic is a complete disservice to both of their characters. to me, regulus is mean only as a shield. it’s a facade, a way to not let anyone get close enough to see the real him. and in some cases it’s to protect james too because he doesn’t want to hurt him. but his personality isn’t mean. he doesn’t want or like to be mean. and james isn’t the kind of character who would just sit there and get abused? like yes, he loves with all his heart and he is understanding and accepting and stubborn. but not to the point of accepting abuse. that’s not a healthy dynamic. that’s not love. and to me, that’s not jegulus.
