i hate doing this but i really have no other option at this point.
i had gotten kicked out of my place a few days ago and thankfully one of my friends is letting me move into his house for $750 a month, which is so much cheaper than renting an apartment with my partner where i live. i'm a full-time college student working 2 minimum wage jobs on campus and since leaving, all of my dad's bills (car, phone) have defaulted onto me and my savings is depleted. i've been sick for the past week so my next paycheck will not be nearly enough to cover my expenses.
anything helps. the services on campus are not helping like the health center promised it would and i need food, gas for commuting to and from school, and to help save up for rent (which is due oct 1st). u are not obligated to send anything, but if u do then i have no words to describe my appreciation for u. thank u for hearing me out. pls boost!

Diapsida: The Cladogram
Version 1.11 · 20 March 2016
Attention: This post will be updated should someone here correct a mistake I made. Please consider reblogging from the original post to get the latest update.
After one exhausting week and tons of feedback from paleonerds and graphic designers, the cladograms are finally here! These cladograms explain the relationships between notable genera within the group Diapsida which encompasses all modern reptiles including birds.
The PDF version is downloadable by donation here, and merchandises such as posters and stickers are now available from my store.

I ended up on the Wikipedia page for "oldest dated rocks" and it's got me feeling all sorts of fucked up about the sheer size of geologic timescales.

[image id: a four-page comic. it is titled “do not stand at my grave and weep” after the poem by mary elizabeth frye. the first page shows paleontologists digging up fossils at a dig. it reads, “do not stand at my grave and weep. i am not there. i do not sleep.” page two features several prehistoric creatures living in the wild. not featured but notable, each have modern descendants: horses, cetaceans, horsetail plants, and crocodilians. it reads, “i am a thousand winds that blow. i am the diamond glints on snow. i am the sunlight on ripened grain. i am the gentle autumn rain.” the third page shows archaeopteryx in the treetops and the skies, then a modern museum-goer reading the placard on a fossil display. it reads, “when you awaken in the morning’s hush, i am the swift uplifting rush, of quiet birds in circled flight. i am the soft stars that shine at night. do not stand at my grave and cry.” the fourth page shows a chicken in a field. it reads, “i am not there. i did not die” / end id]
a comic i made in about 15 hours for my school’s comic anthology. the theme was “evolution”

🐢If you ever wanted to see a turtle with cow-like horns and a large, bony tail club, you can find one in the Museum’s Hall of Vertebrate Origins!
🦴This #FossilFriday, get acquainted with Meiolania platyceps. It lived about 120,000 years ago, during the Late Pleistocene and was discovered on Lord Howe Island, a volcanic island about 400 miles (643 kilometers) from Australia. Specimens have also been found in Cenozoic rocks in South America, Australia, and on Pacific islands.
