4 Important Reasons to Keep Your Exhaust Range Hood Clean
Kitchen exhaust hoods and fans can get dirty quickly and there are some really good reasons to clean them thoroughly and frequently.  The first is safety, fire safety to be specific. Let’s say you had a fire break out on one of your kitchen appliances (a stove top, grill, oven, fryer, etc.) and you had a layer of grease built up in the hood, duct, and fan.  That grease is combustible and since heat rises, it will be the first thing to ignite if the fire isn’t put out quickly. It gets even more serious from there. A fire needs three things to burn. 1. Heat (already provided by the fire that just broke out on your stove top), 2. Fuel (that’s the grease that you didn’t get around to cleaning in your hood and duct), and 3. Oxygen.  The exhaust system is designed specifically to provide a high flow of air to keep all those vapors from your cooking from filling the kitchen and eating areas. So as the fire catches in your hood, the exhaust system will act like a bellows and the fire will just roar up through the ductwork and to the roof of your building. By this point you will be evacuating the building, calling the fire department, and hoping you have good insurance.  And in a worse case scenario, someone could get hurt or die.
If the above example wasn’t good enough reason to keep up on hood cleaning, a second compelling reason is that many (probably most) states require the hood to be cleaned by law.  This is for good reason. As you can imagine, if a neglectful restaurant manager causes a fire, it can put the public at risk of death or injury, and other properties at risk as well.  So if the State authorities discover that you are not in compliance with the local laws, you are likely to be fined and possibly shut down until the situation is remedied. The fines will add up quickly and the lost revenue from being shut down is going to hurt.  Aqua Jet is located and operates in Utah where the State has adopted the NFPA 96 “bare metal” standard. This is a common standard, and to see what your state uses, check your local fire marshal website. To sum it up, the standard basically states that when the hood is cleaned it must be cleaned down to the bare metal throughout the ENTIRE system.  So you aren’t going to pass inspection if you just clean the hood and filters.  You will also need to clean the plenum, duct(s), fan(s), roof top, and everything under the hood.
The third reason to keep your hood clean is that many insurance companies require the cleaning.  You may want to check into your insurance policy, because if you have a fire and hadn’t kept up on your cleaning and don’t have records that it was cleaned by a licensed professional, it's possible that your insurance may not cover the damages.  One instance of this happening would put many owners out of business for good.
The fourth reason is a little less dramatic, but also has an impact on revenue.  A clean hood looks good and gives your patrons, employees, and business associates a sense that you keep a clean kitchen. They will infer that if you take care to keep your hood nice and shiny, you are more likely to take care not to let salmonella or e-coli get into their food.
In short, frequent and thorough hood cleaning can save lives, save money, and make you look good and your customers feel good.

Using a Pressure Washer to Kill Weeds
Are you tired of getting on your hands and knees to kill those annoying weeds in your front yard and back yard? Stop hurting your back and using those harmful chemicals by switching to using a pressure washer to remove those weeds.
Using a pressure washer is a more effective, easier and an affordable way to get rid of those pesky weeds.
Steps to Eliminating Weeds With a Pressure Washer:
Pull those large weeds out of the ground by hand.
Once those long weeds are removed by hand, use the pressure washer around the stones to remove the rest of the weeds growing out.
You will want to remove the debris and sand from the joints. Make sure you are being gentle around the bedding layer that the pavers rest on, because you can eliminate and damage the sand or material that is holding it together.
Once you have removed the weeds with the pressure washer, we recommend using a paving sealer. Paving sealers will set your joint sand and will stop the damage done if a pressure washer is used to remove weeds.
If you are washing any areas that have brick, make sure to replace the sand or sediment you eliminated with the pressure washer.
Tips to Getting Rid of Weeds With a Pressure Washer:
To make things easier and more effective, try pulling the largest weeds by hand. These weeds can oftentimes be a little more difficult to remove with the pressure washer.
Do not use a pressure washer to remove weeds on a consistent basis because it can tend to cause long-term damage. An example of damage that would happen would be removing/eliminating sand or any other sediment that is used between bricks or other material.
If you see the sand and sediment being removed, you can make sure to replace it after it has been cleaned by the pressure washer.
Replacing the sand can make the area a “less” habitable area for future weeds, which will also make it less inviting for weeds to grow back.
Use a paving sealer after you have eliminated the weeds from the pressure washer.
Be cautious on how often you use the pressure washer because it can lead to loss of strength in the ground which can cause sinking of the paving.
When you have a lot of brick around your property, they may make the your property look beautiful, but it is also very easy for weeds to infiltrate and start growing between the bricks. If you let it grow too long, it can tend to make it very hard for you to remove it later on.

Best Way to Remove Paint From Walls (Home Exterior)
Are you looking for an easy and effective way to strip paint from your home exterior or deck? Using a pressure washer is the way to go. However, before attempting to use a pressure washer for this purpose you MUST do your research and know the do’s and don’ts to ensure you do not damage any of the property while attempting.
Type of Pressure Washer to Use:
Pressure washer with around 2000-3000 PSI is recommended because it requires a lot of pressure to break the chemical bond between the paint and whatever type of surface it is on (note: do not use a pressure washer on hardboard siding because it tends to absorb moisture, causing further damage).
Preparation and Safety:
Prep your doors, garages and windows before using the pressure washer on your home. This will help prevent damage to the items, as well as prevent water from getting inside your home.
Have on the appropriate safety equipment (i.e goggles, gloves, closed toe boots). The pressure on the pressure washer is strong enough to break through your skin, so we can not stress enough why it’s important to wear your safety equipment.
Identify what your house is made of.
Vinyl does not absorb paint like wood does, therefore making it easier to remove. However, wood is a little trickier, meaning you may not be able to get all the paint off of wood, but you should be able to get the majority of it off.
Identify what kind of paint you are removing.
The most common type of paint is latex-based paint (water-based). This paint will be the easiest to remove.
To determine, water-based paint will look “thinner” when it is dry and may have some texture beneath. Oil-based paint looks more “opaque” and does not peel easily when you chip at it.
Another way to determine what type of paint you have is by applying a small amount of alcohol on a rag and rubbing the paint. If the paint stains the rag then it is latex paint.
Tips to Removing Paint With the Pressure Washer
It is recommended to strip paint when the weather is warmer outside. This makes the paint peel and come off easier.
Make sure you have the correct pressure to remove the paint. The pressure depends on the type of paint and the type of surface the paint is on. Typically a PSI of 3000 or more is recommended for vinyl surfaces and 2000 PSI is recommended for wood surfaces.
Use the correct tip for the pressure washer. It is recommended to use between a 15-degree tip and a 25-degree tip.
Make sure the pressure washer is used in the same direction of the wood. Move parallel to the lines (one end to the other). By doing this, you will help prevent any damage of the actual wood.
Keep the nozzle at an angle to the surface so the water gets under the paint without damaging the wood.
Note that ALL of the paint may not come off, but the majority of it should.
Wait 48 hours or more before you begin painting to ensure everything is dry.

Pressure Washing Vinyl Siding
Pressure washing your vinyl siding can be simple, safe and quick if you follow the below tips and tricks.
How much pressure to use?
When pressure washing your vinyl siding, make sure you are using a lower water pressure so the water doesn’t get behind the siding which can damage the surface. You can slightly increase the pressure if you need, but you should always make sure to start on the lowest pressure.
Should I Use Detergent?
Washing with a detergent is always better than using just water. Most pressure washers include a spot to put the detergent so it comes out directly in the jet stream. However, before purchasing any detergents make sure it is made for pressure washing. This will be located directly on the label. By making sure you have the right detergent, you are ensuring the detergent is environmentally friendly and will not damage your pressure washer.
Steps to pressure washing vinyl siding
When using the detergent, make sure you are using the pressure washer on low. Starting from the bottom and working your way up will help to ensure there will be no streaks.
If your home has never been pressure washed, or it’s been a while, you might want to use a brush. This will help loosen all the layers of dirt that have been sitting there since who knows when. All you need to do is attach the brush to the pressure washer wand.
Once you apply the detergent, let it sit for 5-10 minutes so it has time to breakdown all of the gunk. If it’s warm outside, make sure not it doesn’t dry on the surface. This could mean to rinse it off before the 5-10 minutes.
Now it’s time to rinse off the detergent with the pressure washer. The key is to give yourself enough distance between you and the siding to ensure you do not damage the exterior. Make sure you set your machine on low-pressure. Once you begin you can gradually move closer to the building if you need more pressure. Make sure you are using a general-use wand tip which provides a 15-20 degree angle that will provide a stronger pressure stream to remove the soap and dirt.
After rinsing off the dirt and soap, use a dry towel to wipe the residue of the inner and outer corners of the siding. This can also help prevent water damage.
Tips when pressure washing the siding:
When spraying your sidings, make sure you are not spraying any vents or light fixtures. The pressure can break these items.
Keep the wand pointing down when you are using the pressure washer so you don’t end up spraying under the laps of the siding.
For two-story homes, consider using a gas-powered pressure washer (these are more powerful and can reach higher). Or consider purchasing an extension wand for your electric powered pressure washer.
Before you start pressure washing your vinyl siding, make sure you inspect around the house to make sure everything is intact and there are no loose pieces of vinyl. Make sure all of your windows are shut before beginning as well.

When Should You Pressure Wash Your House?
Pressure washing your home is a regular maintenance task that should be done at least once a year. When should you pressure wash your house? Spring is a great time to power wash your home because of all the snow, hail, rain and dirt that winter brought to your home.
First Things First:
What areas of your home can you power wash?
Exterior of your home
Deck/Patio
Roof
Gutters
Walkway/Driveway
Siding
When should you pressure wash your house?
Ask yourself these questions when deciding when exactly you need to get your home power washed.
What kind of  weather do you live in? The climate where you reside will determine how often you should clean your home. If you live in a damp and humid environment, then your home is more likely to get mildew faster, meaning you should power wash your home more frequently.
Is your home located near a dirt road? If this is the case then cars driving by and the wind picking up can end up blowing the dirt towards your home causing buildup on the exterior. Is your home surrounded by trees? Sap, leaves and dirt build up can gravitate to your front porch, gutter, roof, etc.
If you live in an area that has hurricanes or snow storms, you may want to consider power washing your home more frequently.
Are you planning on painting the exterior of your home? Often power washing the outside of your home before you begin these projects will help prepare the surfaces for painting.
Does the exterior color of your house look different from what you remember? This can be due to all the dirt and mildew that grows on your home, therefore, making your home seem darker than it originally was. This would be a good time to get your home power washed.
If you are looking to sell your home we highly recommend pressure washing your home so it looks it’s best when potential clients and the future homeowners come to visit.

Caring For Your Concrete Driveway During The Winter
Caring for your concrete driveway during winter is an important thing to do to ensure your driveway is safe and intact after the harsh winter weather conditions. Snow, wind, ice and other debris can cause your driveway to crack and deteriorate if it is not properly taken care of. See below our “do’s” and “don’ts” to ensure your driveway is cared for in the winter.
What “TO DO”:
Clear the ice and snow from your driveway on a daily basis
Making sure your driveway is clear will help prevent snow/ice from freezing on your concrete, which will prevent future crackings in your driveway.
If you are using a snow plow, make sure it does not scrape the surface of your driveway. You need to ensure the blade of the plow is high enough to not touch and damage your driveway.
Have your driveway sealed and cleaned (recommended every 2-5 years).
Make sure to have a professional power washing company do this so it is ready to withstand harsh weather conditions.
Clearing away the debris, leaves and twigs will help make future management easier.
Remove Stains & Oil Spills Frequently.
This will help prevent any discoloration on the concrete. If a stain forms, you would need to hire a professional or purchase a chemical stain remover to remove it.
Pay attention to your driveway
If you see cracks or any other issues in your driveway, you will need to address it as soon as possible so more problems don’t arise, causing you to pay more to fix it.
What NOT TO DO:
Do not use deicing chemicals.
This may melt the ice on your driveway but it can also eat at the surface on the concrete.
Try to not park heavy vehicles/equipment on your driveway (at least for a long period of time). The weight of these vehicles are too harsh on the concrete.
Do not use corrosive materials.
This material breaks down the concrete in the driveway and can cause your driveway to deteriorate at a faster rate. A smarter removal detergent to use would be something with calcium chloride as a main ingredient.
Do not use salt on a brand new driveway. The salt will damage the settling material. Sand and kitter litter is a good alternative.
Do not scrape your driveway with a shovel.
Use either a plastic shovel or make sure your shovel head is at least a half an inch away from the concrete surface.

How to Prevent the Spread of Infection in Your Kitchen
Kitchens can be considered a “high volume” area in your home, considering food is an important part of our everyday life. With people consistently coming in and out of the kitchen and leaving behind food, spills and dirt, a kitchen can be a place where bacteria and germs thrive. This is why it’s important to make sure you are doing all you can to prevent the spread of bacteria and infection in your kitchen.
Items That Are Sources of Contamination:
Be cautious when handling raw meats, poultry and fish/seafood. These items can carry many harmful bacteria and can be linked to disease like, salmonella, campylobacter, shigella, ecoli, etc.
Look out for unpasteurized cheeses and meats. This can carry diseases like listeria monocytogenes that could be extremely dangerous, especially with pregnant women.
Be mindful of where your fruits and vegetables come from. Some fruits and vegetables can carry parasites and organisms, depending on where they where grown.
Be aware of anyone that is sick! With things constantly being used and touched in the kitchen it is especially important to be mindful of anyone that is sick, so you can properly disinfect.
Areas to Clean in Your Kitchen
In the kitchen many items and gadgets are consistently touched by people. This is why it’s important to make sure you are consistently cleaning and disinfecting the following:
Can openers
Cutting boards
Countertops
Towels
Sponges/scrubbers
Garbage disposals
Sink drains (along pipe under the sink)
Refrigerators
Blenders
Ovens
Toasters/toaster ovens
Any other commonly used kitchen gadget/appliance
Tips to Cleaning
Make sure you know the difference between CLEANING and DISINFECTING
- Cleaning will just wipe off grease, food and dirt, while disinfecting will actually kill the bacteria, viruses and parasites. - Make sure you are using the proper cleaners to make sure you are disinfecting areas properly. Any disinfecting and sanitizing liquids, sprays or wipes will work. - Cleaning before disinfecting is going to be important to make sure none of the food, grease or other buildup will get in the way of disinfecting.
Make sure you are drying your dishes properly! Sterilizing your dishes in a dishwasher is going to be the most effective. The least effective way is by using a paper towel or towel, because that will end up spreading bacteria or germs with a constantly used towel.
ALWAYS wash your hands before eating, preparing food and after cleaning/disinfecting.
- Make sure to use soap and warm water. - Wash your ENTIRE hand (front and back) - Wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds. - Rinse well and make this a habit. - If you decide to use hand sanitizer, make sure to apply the gel around both hands (back and front) and let your hands dry BEFORE touching anything.

SidewalksPower Washing Concrete Sidewalks
Did you know that cement holds and soaks in every ounce of dirt, oil, rust and debris? This means that just sweeping or pouring some water over it is going to scrape all of these items away. Cleaning your sidewalks will not only help with the “aesthetic look,” but it will also help prevent future falls/slips. If dirt, oil, debris and other particles get piled on the surface, it can cause it to become uneven and slippery which can ultimately end up in someone slipping and getting hurt.
With a power washing treatment on your concrete sidewalks, you can ensure a deeper cleaning that will get deep down in the surface of the concrete.
Step to Power Washing Concrete Sidewalks
1) Sweep the entire concrete surface: Sweep off all the debris from the surface.
2) Protect any surrounding items: Cover any exterior walls/doors with plastic sheeting and move any other items away from the area you are pressure washing.
3) Wear the necessary safety equipment: Wear long sleeves, long pants, sturdy shoes, gloves, and protective goggles.
4) Degrease the sidewalk surface: Spray the concrete with a bottle of spray degreaser. Make sure to spray at least 6 inches above the surface. Then scrub the degreaser into the concrete with a pressure-washer attachment tool or a stiff brush/broom.
5) Attach spray wand tip for detergent and attach the hoses: Attach the garden hose to the pressure washer’s water supply and turn the water on.
6) Get the pressure washer ready for the detergent: Put the detergent siphon tube directly on the detergent container. Once you have turned the pressure washer on, the tube will bring the detergent into the water stream of the wand.
7) Start spraying the detergent: Apply the detergent by holding the spray handle down and keeping a distance of 8-18 inches from the concrete. Spray back and forth in a smooth, consistent manner, overlapping each stroke by 6-8 inches. Make sure you let the detergent sit on the surface for around 5 minutes.
8) Now it’s time to pressure wash the sidewalk: Change the tip to a 25-degree tip. Then pressure wash the concrete by spraying with the handle and doing the same smooth, consistent, overlapping strokes (same as when you were applying the detergent).
9) Seal the sidewalk: You will need to pour waterproof sealer into the paint pan and add the roller cover to the roller handle. Next attach the extender pole and start rolling the sealer on from the middle to the outside of the sidewalks. Let this sit for 24 hours before any heavy duty items can be on it.

Pressure Washing a Mobile Home
Not only does the interior of a home need consistent cleaning, but the exterior of a home does as well. Siding on a mobile home can easily accumulate dirt, debris, mildew over time and cause your home to look “not so appealing.” One of the fastest and most efficient ways to clean the exterior of your mobile home is through power washing.
The DO’s and DONTS of Pressure Washing Your Mobile Home
DO’s
Working from one side and moving around the mobile home is the best method. Don’t jump from area to area, so you can ensure every inch of the home gets cleaned.
First use a simple garden hose to clean the dust off the exterior, then use a pressure washer to get the dirt and debris off.
Cover any areas you do not want getting damaged (ie flower beds, gardens, decorations, vehicles, etc).
DON’TS
Don’t use the pressure washer on everything. For example, if a part of the mobile home seems worn and torn, you should avoid using a pressure washer on this area to avoid further damage.
Don’t use harsh chemicals. Harsh chemicals will end up ruining your landscaping. Sometimes just a little soap and water is enough.
No need to use hot water. This is just a friendly tip that the hassle to get hot water is not necessary for cleaning your mobile home. Hot water can also actually affect and damage the paint on your mobile home exterior.
Don’t pressure wash your windows. This will help avoid any damage to the seals of the windows and prevent any possible water getting into your home.
Don’t refill the fuel while the pressure washer is on. This will be extremely dangerous and should NEVER be done.
Do not use the power washer too close to the trailer. You will want to keep a safe distance while washing the exterior of the mobile home. You will also want to use a low-pressure stream around items like light fixtures and vents.
Do not use a high pressure on mobile homes. This can cause damage to the exterior of your home.
Steps to Power Washing Your Mobile Home
Examine the exterior of your mobile home. Check the exterior to see what areas need more attention than others. You will also want to keep an eye on what areas are more fragile and should not be cleaned by a pressure washer.
Remove anything that will be an obstacle. Remove anything leaning up against the walls that can fall or get ruined by the pressure washer. This also includes making sure your car is a good distance away so it will not be harmed as well.
Scrub the dirtiest areas first. Look for the areas that have the most dirt, grim or mildew and scrub the areas off with a large scrubbing brush. Using a bleach solution to loosen the dirt and grime.
Use a pressure spray. Using a pressure wand that has a concentrated spray over a smaller area is going to be your best bet for a mobile home, since the walls are not as strong as a concrete wall on a typical home.
Start cleaning from the top. Use your pressure sprayer 12-18 inches from the mobile home wall exterior. Spray from side to side and work your way down the mobile home. Spray in a smooth rhythm.
Clean around the mobile home. Work around the mobile home until you have done all the walls.
Clean areas like the steps or deck. If your mobile home has a deck, patio, steps or anything of that matter, you will want to use the pressure washer on that too. Try to use the pressure washer to ensure the water and soap does not get on the exterior that you just finished cleaning.
Time to clean the door. Clean off any rust or items on the metal portions of the door. You can use vinegar on any lights or window of the door to get it clean.
Clean the windows. Clean windows with just plain soap and water. You should make sure to clean the inside and outside of the windows.
Cleaning Vinyl Siding
A pressure washer is safe to use for vinyl siding on a mobile home. You will want to use a pressure washer that has a chemical injector that brings soap from the container and mixes it with water.
Cleaning products that have been known to work are bleach, liquid soap and detergents.
Steps to cleaning vinyl:
Cover any flower beds or gardens to prevent them from getting ruined.
Spray the soapy water mix, using a low-pressure setting to spray your vinyl.
Start from the bottom and work your way up. Do not aim the water pressure up, or you will risk getting water under the siding, which will cause mold or mildew.
After spraying the entire mobile home, it is time to rinse.
Go back to where you started and rinse the soap off.
Repeat these steps until your entire mobile home is clean.
Cleaning Metal Siding
Cleaning metal siding is also done with a pressure washer. However, make sure not to use too much pressure or you can damage the metal.
With your pressure washer, you will need a “fan” like stream instead of a concentrated one.
Do not get too close to the siding when spraying it.
Use a chemical that is specific for metal siding.
Steps to cleaning metal siding:
Cover any gardens or flower beds to prevent them from getting damaged.
You may need to use a scrub brush to clean the dirtier areas. This should be done before you pressure wash.
Pressure wash from one end and work your way around the mobile home, moving side to side and top to bottom.
Once the mobile home has dried, make sure to check for any spots that are still dirty.
Repeat if necessary.

How to Clean a Light Post
Items you will need:
1)   Something to scrub the posts with (you will need something with a handle so you aren’t touching the chemicals used to clean it).
2)   Sulfamic acid
3)   Water
4)   Towels
5)   Safety Equipment (gloves and closed toe shoes)
6)   Sprayer (we use a 50 gallon drum with 100 PSI pump sprayer with plain water)
Step by step instructions on how to clean a light post:
1)   Put the sulfamic acid powder in a bucket with warm water.
2)   Dip the brush in the bucket. Make sure you shake the brush off in the bucket to make sure you don’t have too much liquid on it and end up getting the liquid everywhere.
3)   Start scrubbing the top of the light post in a circular fashion with your brush. As you scrub the top of the light post you will see it start to foam (this means its working).  You’ll begin to see the acid working and eating the grim right off the light post.
4)   Next, start scrubbing the actual light, underneath to top of the post. Make sure to get every area underneath. Once again you’ll see it start to foam which means the acid is eating away at the grim.
5)   Now it’s time to work on the body of the light post (going up and down and all around the post). You’ll see it start to foam and the grim disappear again.
6)   Lastly, you will scrub the base of the light post.
7)   Head back to the top and work your way down again with the brush to ensure you got every inch of the light post. Make sure you do this about 2-3 times. If it stops foaming, then you know you got all of it off.
8)   Now it’s time to spray the light post down with plain water. Make sure you spray every inch of the light post to ensure everything gets rinsed off.
9)   It’s now time to get your dry, clean towel to wipe the light post down. Start from the top and work your way down to the bottom.
10)  You now have a brand new looking light post!

How to Eliminate Restroom Odor
Everyone can agree a restroom is not the most pleasant place to be, especially when it comes to odor. However, when it comes to public places, restrooms are a place that dozens or even hundreds of people use on a daily basis. By having so much foot traffic, restrooms can tend to get dirtier and even stinkier throughout the day. This is why Aqua Jet wants to provide a few ways to ensure your restroom odor is controlled and eliminated for guests/customers.
Make sure to perform daily restroom cleanings
Ensure you have employees or a cleaning/janitorial crew that can perform regular daily restroom checks. They should ensure that not only should all items be fully stocked (ie toilet paper, paper towels, etc), but to ensure everything is also smelling fresh and clean. Cleaning crews and employees should be trained to have the proper cleaning supplies and know how to properly clean, sanitize and eliminate odor.
Use an odor digester
This cleaning product has a specific bred bacterial enzyme that breaks down organic matter by digesting it. It will help eliminate odors.
To use an odor digester, you should use a trigger sprayer and apply the cleaning product to the bottom of the toilet, urinals, and any floor/ground space. If your restroom is not cleaned on a regular basis, you may want to use a floor scrubber to get the deep stains and odors from the floor. Make sure to wet the entire area and let the odor digester sit on the floor until it is completed dry. If any water or other chemicals are applied before it dries it can remove the odor digester, therefore losing. You will also want the floor to completely dry to help prevent any slippage.
Make sure to read the directions on the cleaning product you are using. If the product calls for the product to be cleaned and removed off the floors, make sure to use a wet/dry vacuum to remove and left over chemicals (not a mop).
Ventilate your bathroom
To help eliminate or control odors, making sure you have proper ventilation is important. Having a ceiling fan on or a window open will help circulate air flow to reduce odors. Just make sure to have your fan cleaned at least every 6 months.
Use air fresheners or odor eliminators
Keeping an odor eliminating spray bottle by each toilet is a good idea. This way it can be used as often as needed. Just make sure the bottle says “odor eliminator.”
Having air fresheners in the restroom is a good idea however, air fresheners tend to just “cover up” the odor, rather than eliminating it like an odor eliminating spray bottle would. However, if you do have air fresheners in the restroom, just make sure to be on top of changing them once the smell has run out.
Get an air purifier
If your restroom has poor air circulation, you may need to purchase an air purifier that helps the air circulation and can remove odor.
Use desiccants
Use desiccants if you tend to have mildew issues. Desiccants are dry materials that are designed to absorb water. Make sure to keep these out of reach of children because they can be toxic if swallowed.
For a more natural alternative, you can use live plants. Plants like ferns or lily plants can help remove those odors.
Take out the trash consistently
Make sure you have someone assigned to take the bathroom trash out regularly. These restroom trash cans can have items that can cause enough odor to fill the restroom (i.e. diapers, wet wipes, dirty paper towels, feminine products, etc).

Best Way to Remove Paint From Walls (Home Exterior)
If you are looking to hire a professional and currently reside in Utah, contact our sister company, Aqua Jet to help you out! 🙂Are you looking for an easy and effective way to strip paint from your home exterior or deck?

Outdoor Spring Cleaning Areas
It’s Spring cleaning time and what better time to do this then when we are all stuck at home.
See below NINE outside areas you should think about cleaning this spring time.
Windows: Clean off those windows by doing it yourself or hiring a professional. For those easy to reach windows, you can use glass-cleaning spray and a microfiber cloth or squeegee to clean. If you have windows that are too tall to reach, consider hiring a professional. You’ll even notice how much more natural sunlight comes into your home after getting those windows sparkly and clean.
Outside leaves: Get rid of all those leaves (or flower petals) that have been building up on your front lawn or backyard. If you have a large lawn, it would be a smart idea to mulch the leaves with your lawnmower in order to remove it faster.
Home exterior: Hire a professional to come pressure wash the exterior of your home. Your home exterior can have contaminants like algae, mold or dirt that tends to build up over the winter months that you will want to get rid of.
Sidewalks and patios/decks: Hire a pressure washer, or do it yourself, either way you should have your sidewalks and patio/decks cleaned to ensure all the dirt and grim is washed away. This will also help ensure no future slips or falls happen on your grounds.
Gutters: After the winter season, now is the time to clean off all that build up debris. Make sure to check and see if there are any “clogged” areas that need attention, and have them cleaned right away. You can do this on your own (make sure to have someone there with you as a “spotter”) or you can hire a professional.
Rooftop: If you see any black streaking or moss on your roof, you will want to get that cleaned as soon as possible. If you let this sit, it can eat away and cause deterioration of your roof. This could be done CAREFULLY by yourself or we highly recommend hiring a professional.
Outdoor furniture / kitchen: Before inviting friends and family over, you should get your outdoor furniture and kitchen areas cleaned to ensure all dirt, grime and bugs are out of sight.
Garden beds: Start raking your leaves, pulling weeds, and trimming past planted items to get your garden ready for any summer blooms. For food planting beds, you’ll want to get rid of any weeds and prepare the soil to plant some new vegetables/fruits for your summer/fall seasons.
Garage: Before you decide to get your garage floors pressure washed, you’ll want to go through your garage and donate unwanted items or have a garage sale. Once everything is cleared out, clean up those spider webs and other debris by doing it yourself or hiring a pressure washer.

Sponges, Scrubbers or Scouring Pads?
Sponges
Sponges are made of cellulose (wooden pulp) and is mainly used to clean kitchens, windows, counter tops and restrooms. These sponges last up to 100 uses.
A negative about regular sponges is that it can harbor bacteria and can be more difficult to clean grime off of items compared to sponges like scouring pads. They are not recommended to be used in cleaning restaurants.
Tip:
Separate your sponges and cleaning supplies based on what they are being used for. For example, separate sponges, mops and buckets specifically for restroom areas or kitchen/break room areas. You do not want to use the same products on a toilet and a kitchen counter.
Scrubbers
Use scrubbers for more aggressive surfaces. Scrubbers are attached to one side of a sponge. The scrubber is both a sponge and a scouring page and can be used for cleaning harsher grim, compared to what a regular cellulose sponge can handle. Be careful not to use them on surfaces that are easily susceptible to scratches.
Scouring Pads and Sticks
Thes pads are used for heavy duty projects. They have light, medium and heavy options, depending on the use.
Lightweight pads can be used on windows
Medium weight pads can be used on items like commercial kitchen equipment
Heavy weight pads can be used for industrial equipment
Extra heavy weight pads can be used on extremely dirty commercial equipment.
Scouring pads and sticks have tough coiled fibers that are low-abrasive and can make 11 times fewer scratches and it lasts 10 times longer than other household sponges. The design allows items to be rinsed out easily. The pad can be replaced with steel wool and can be used wet or dry.
A negative thing about scouring pads however, is that they can tend to leave behind ugly scratches on certain items so you will need to be careful on what you use it for.
When determining what sponge or pad to use make sure you ask these specific questions:
What surface will you be cleaning?
What areas have the roughest surfaces to clean?
What intensity of grain do I need them for?
How frequently am I using the sponge?
No matter what sponge you decide to use, you should either make sure you are replacing it frequently or cleaning them. To clean sponges they found it most effective to run it through the washing machine on the hottest setting using detergent or bleach. You can also transfer sponges used for places like the kitchen, to the bathroom where hygiene isn’t as critical.

Coronavirus Prevention
With the panic of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) going on right now, PCT wanted to provide some background information and prevention tips for those in need. All of the information provided in this post was taken from the CDC website (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html).
Symptoms (What to look for):
Fever
Cough
Shortness of breath
These symptoms could appear anywhere between 2-14 days AFTER exposure.
However, if you experience any of the following symptoms, you should immediately go to the emergency room:
Difficulty breathing
Constant pain/pressure in your chest
New confusion or inability to arouse
A bluish color to the lips or face.
If you have any other concerning symptoms, you should call a nurse or a doctor immediately.
Who is at higher risk for COVID-19?
Older adults
People who have serious chronic medical conditions like: heart disease, diabetes or lung disease.
What to do if you are sick:
The first thing you should do if you believe or know you have COVID-19, is to avoid going ANYWHERE but your home or a medical facility. You should avoid any public areas (work, school, stores, etc), do not use any public transportation and avoid being around other people and pets. If you are able to, stay in a separate room by yourself (unless you need to use the restroom, in which others in the home should avoid).
If you have someone else living with you, you should have them take care of the children, pets and any grocery/store shopping.
If you decide to leave your home to go to the doctors, make sure to call the doctor’s office to let them know that you have or believe you might have COVID-19. This way staff can take measures to avoid other people from getting exposed.
Other Coronavirus Prevention tips:
Use a facemask whenever you are around people or pets.
If you are caring for a person who is sick, you should also wear a facemask.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough and sneeze. Make sure you dispose of or wash whatever you coughed or sneezed into.
WASH YOUR HANDS. You need to wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Do not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, utensils, towels or bedding if you are infected or if anyone else who has been infected has used it.
Clean surfaces that are touched everyday. This includes counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, phones, keyboards, tablets, etc.
Use household cleaning spray or wipes and make sure to follow the directions. You should also make sure to wear gloves and have good ventilation during use of the cleaning products.
If you seem to be getting worse, seek medical attention ASAP. Make sure to call ahead of time to let them know you are coming in.
Ask your provider to contact the health department to alert them of your condition.
Get approval from your healthcare provider before you discontinue home isolation.
Make sure to have supplies on hand (medications, toiletries, food, water, etc), in case you are quarantined.
