//Looking at Alhaitham's birthday mail, and it's honestly really sweet. Like each year he sends something for Paimon to practice and learn to read progressively more advanced things. Praising her progress, too. I think it's really sweet, even though Paimon might think him excessively rude, he's contributing to her growth and looking out for her in his own way.

"Of course!"
Barbara wouldn't be able to even focus on her work while knowing that Ella had gone missing. She'd end up searching anyway, even if Ethan insisted on doing so alone. It was much better this way, with them both working together, so that they didn't waste either person's effort.
"Yes, meet you there!" Barbara called out after him, before turning her attention to the grounds of the cathedral.
She asked a few of the other Sisters if they had seen Ella around, reassuring them when the questions brought forth concern. Unfortunately, she got little information from them--aside from the rather unhelpful knowledge that they had not seen her.
But still, Barbara searched everywhere around the cathedral that she could, including the graveyard behind it. She worried that Ella might've gone up to the top of the cathedral's towers, and so from the interior, she went up to the bell tower to check, shivering at the blast of wind from being exposed so high up.
Troubled? Yeah, he guessed with the way Ella was, her worries would reflect in her work at the church. He should have tried harder to help lessen the burden that was constantly being placed on her shoulders. If only he wasn't so weak all the time. He sighed, running a hand through his hair, an attempt to calm down his racing heart.
"You'd help?", he gazed at her in slight surprise. Part of him wanted to insist that he look alone, that he didn't get in the way of her work, but he also was worried enough that the speed of two people looking instead of one would help ease his mind a little, "Thank you. I'll leave the area around the church to you then - I'll run into town and see if she's got lost or something..." As unlikely as that was, her sense of direction was rather terrible.
Tumblr media
"I'll meet you back in the plaza!". Somehow, he resisted the urge to hug her, another small bow given before he activated his vision, sparks flying around his form as he rushed out from the church.

"Thank you. That'll be helpful." Although Jean didn't think it would be that difficult to find the location of the blast--explosions tended to make themselves obvious--it would save time anyway.
And she felt that Bennett would rather be helpful, rather than getting sent away. She didn't want to give the impression that she was upset with him after all.
Hearing that Klee had gone running off, Jean gave a long, weary sigh. "I'll have someone inform Kaeya and Albedo, then. They're most likely to know where she'll be hiding."
Lately, Klee had been good about "turning herself in" when she'd done wrong. Although Jean still had to keep up the discipline, she also wanted to encourage that sort of accountability in her. However, Klee was still a child, after all, and children often hid away when they believed they'd get punished.
Jean's temple throbbed, and she massaged it lightly. This was already shaping up to be a long day.
"Alright, then. Lead the way."
Tumblr media
"I can go down with you and show you where the explosion was if you want. But no one else besides Klee and myself were around, so no one else was in the vicinity." Even if the blast wasn't his fault, Bennett still felt a certain degree of responsibility for it, but also wanting to make sure things were taken care of swiftly and not made worse by his notorious bad luck. Heck, maybe that's why it happened in the first place, it wouldn't be the craziest thing that had ever happened because of his luck.
Tumblr media
"I don't know exactly where Klee is, she just said she was going to hide somewhere you or the Captain couldn't find her since he's still obligated to bring her to you when she's in trouble. So she could be somewhere in the woods, she could be hiding in the library with Miss Lisa, she may have gone to hide with Mister Albedo too...."

//My queue ran out and I didn't write anymore replies to fill it orz
But you know, Christmas and all. I started crocheting scarves for my parents and four younger sister way back in June, and then two weeks ago my sister was like "Hey do you know how to crochet like a Gengar beanie" because Gengar is my nephew's favorite pokemon rn, so I started THAT, and a matching beanie for his dad @.@

Barbara knew how she must look after the exertion - climbing wasn't exactly pretty. She pulled the ties from her hair, allowing her hair to cascade free into a mess of wavy-curls. After being pinned up for so long, her hair kept an odd bent, trying to maintain the shape it had before, but she didn't mind how it looked. It was only the two of them up there anyhow.
When they started back for the city, she would redo her hair, of course. Right now, it was a relief to shake it free of its confines.
"Right? The lake is so beautiful, especially with the sun glittering across the top of it, and the city in the distance."
Barbara pulled a couple snacks from her pack, a couple different cookies, some dried fish sticks - spicy to her taste, of course - and even a soft pretzel carefully wrapped up. Blessedly, it was still warm.
"Miss Sara baked this one fresh for me. It was so kind of her, but it's too big to eat myself, especially with these other snacks, too. I've got cheese spread for it as well."

Elyon preffered her time in Mondstadt away from the city of Freedom, as far as possible from a certain couple's mansion. Aside from the rare visits to resupply or to her grave, if only for the irony of it, she mostly was away from the city.
Yet she still would find herself with time to iddle, observe and not necessarily document everything. So when Barbara offered her to have a small trip to her favorite spot, Elyon agreed without hesitations.
Elyon had to jump a bit and grasp onto a low branch, before following after Barbara's demonstration. Practice made perfect and while Elyon was far from physically apt in the field of strength and stamina, any small burst of efforts were fine.
Elyon took Barbara's hand as she found herself struggling slightly before eventually pushing through regardless. A golden brow rose in surprise as she noticed Barbara's slightly messy hair, but said nothing.
Tumblr media
Their hands remained together as Elyon followed silently after the healer, lips parted slightly as ocean hues took in her surroundings curiously. " Oh?!" A small amazed gasp escaped her as she followed after her friend, arriving finally at the relaxing looking destination.
Elyon was quick to catch herself when Barbara called her. Sitting right beside the deaconess at the offered spot. Nodding enthusiastly at the offer of treats from the other. " I see." the smaller blonde mused, it made sense, the small spot was hidden by trees and they likely contributed to blocking the wind too. " It's pretty , i ...love the view."

The butterflies in her stomach stirred in response to the kiss to her hand. Such a simple gesture, yet it made her feel cute and treasured. That people cared about her and that they thought her pretty were never in question, but it was somehow different in the way that Bennett expressed such things to her.
"It's ok! I grabbed your hand without asking first, so..."
Barbara did her best to not act like the silly little fool she felt in that moment. She did a rather good job of it, she thought, but she still pressed her free hand to her cheek just to make sure it wasn't too flushed.
"They went perfectly!" Barbara truly loved going through the rituals of worship. She felt deeply connected to Lord Barbatos in the Cathedral, all of her troubles melting away.
If something went wrong during church services, and she couldn't salvage it, Barbara just felt wrong the entire day.
"But Sister Rosaria didn't show up again." She sighed. "I'll try and speak with her tomorrow."
For all her efforts, it seemed to go in one ear and out the other for Rosaria. Anyone else might've just given up and let the Sister do as she pleased, but Barbara was nothing if not a little stubborn and headstrong in doing what she thought was right.
"What about you?" she chirped with a sudden burst of energy. She swung their connected hands. "How was your day?
Tumblr media
No matter what her reason for holding his hand could have been, nothing could have prepared him for it beforehand. But nothing could have prepared him either for how utterly adorable Barbara was with the visible flush on her cheeks, it was a face he'd never seen from her before. Even on her stressed out days, flustered was not an emotion she ever visibly dealt with.
But man he was never going to be over how cute she was. Never ever.
"Yeah, it is nice. Plus I can keep your hands warm this way. Wouldn't be good if I dropped you off at home shivering in any way."
It was a very impulsive thing for him to do, but they were already holding hands so it was clear that affection from Bennett was allowed, but after he held up their hands a moment ago when he was talking about it, Bennett lifted their joined hands again and pressed a quick kiss to the top of Barbara's hand and then immediately realized what he did and coughed to clear his throat awkwardly.
"Sorry, I didn't ask if that was okay to do. But tell me about your day, how'd the services go and everything?"

She could summon a big snake, was that right?
Miko gazed upon Orobashi's remains. She wondered at the discomfort upon the girl's face as she responded, seemingly reluctant to admit too much.
Interesting.
She smiled at Elyon. "Please, there's no need to be formal, Ely," she said. "Why don't you come with me? It's a long way to Narukami island from here, but it's best to not stay too long here. Although this grand serpent is long dead, its hatred still deeply infects this island."
And she could see traces of divinity upon the girl as well. Her intuition warned that leaving Elyon to herself may spell disaster, related to that very fact.
Elyon was confused as to why the other was chuckling , not quite knowledgeable on wether her answer was funny or not. Her head tilting lightly to the right side as she remained silent, in thoughts.
The small blonde almost breathed out in relief when the reply she had given was regarded as good, though this whole introduction felt confusing to the map maker.
Elyon's smile stretched into a slightly uncomfortable expression, she did dig that grave for herself. A small sigh escaped her as she gave another roundabout reply. " i can_ call a big...one." Elyon replied vaguely, right hand reaching to timidly point at the Cryo Vision from Mondstadt hanging onto her snake shaped golden arm ring on her left arm. Although she purposefully hide how large her summon truly was.
Tumblr media
" i don't care." Elyon replied with a nonchallant shrug. Nicknames and the likes were things she didn't credit with much importance. They merely were others' rebranding of a 'name' for their own convenience.
" i see, a _ pleasure to ...meet you, Madame." Elyon replied with a small curtsy, once the other fully introduced herself, with enough precision to make her high status quite obvious.

"I'll go down myself to survey the area." Jean's stress mounted; she rubbed her temple to soothe the headache threatening her at the moment.
"Please don't worry about it. More importantly, was anyone other than fish injured?"
Depending on how big of a blast, it could be damaging to the fishing industry, and any pollution of Cider Lake that happened as a result could hurt the wine industry as well. Jean could deal with the fallout of both of those, though it would mean a lot more work for her - and in general, the Knights of Favonius - for a good little while. She worried more about actual human lives, however, and her priority would always be to keep all the citizens of Mondstadt safe.
"And where's Klee? She knows better; she should've come to tell me what happened herself."
Had Alice visited her daughter recently? Klee tended to be more of a handful following times like those, where the mage tended to encourage rather than discipline their daughter. Unfortunately, it wouldn't matter if Jean tried to ask her to take more responsibility - Alice was too much of a free spirit, and egged that on in Klee as well.
Bennett could feel the weight of Jean's gaze on him as she listened to him speak. Jean wasn't a force to be reckoned with for no reasone, she commanded respect, and even if she wasn't the older sister of the girl he had a crush on, he would be just as apologetic about the mishap that happened within the last hour. He could hear Jean's voice be tense, but there was no anger to be heard there. And when he heard her voice loosen up even more and tell him he's not in trouble, that's when Bennett let out a small smile of relief and his shoulders visibly relaxed.
"Yeah.... I knew she liked to play with them and stuff but I never know when she's got some on her. I was going to go up and see Barbara after I went fishing with Klee, but is there anything that we should do back at the lake to make sure everything's okay? I don't know how many fish may have gotten hurt from the explosion......"

Her lashes fluttered against her cheek as he brought their foreheads together. Eyes closed, she drank in the warmth of his body surrounding her own. Nestled within his dear embrace was like the last frost melting at the coming of spring. Nothing in the world mattered as long as she could be held in this manner for an eternity more, with his loving voice at her ear.
Lashes parting just enough to gaze at his face, Rosalyne brushed her fingertips across his hair. Then she pressed her palm to her cheek.
My love, her lips shaped, but for the moment she dare not voice, lest the dream-like moment burst and Rostam vanish before her eyes.
Yet after a short time lingering in this glow, she finally asked, "How was the expedition? Did you eat well? What sort of sights did you come across?"
Rosalyne herself had never left Mondstadt, but it wouldn't be long before she left for Sumeru. She would apply for entrance into their Akademiya, and prove her years now of self-study worth it.
There always was eagerness in his steps whenever he returned home in Mondstadt. Back to his homeland and the enchantress by the fountain side, his beloved Rosalyne.
Hearring her lovely voice helped anchoring the fact he was back home, to her. Holding her smaller form in his arms felt just right, an embrace so tender as his silvery gaze studied her so fondly, arms lightly wrapped around her ribs.
Tumblr media
He lowered his head until his forehead lightly bumped onto her's, enjoying the ticklish feeling of her golden strands on his forehead, but above all it was her scent that hit his nostrils. How dearly he missed her.
" Yes, i just came back. I missed you my dearest Rosalyne." Rostam muttered adoringly , not letting go of his beloved maiden. The distance between the caused by his duty made his heart ache so terribly.

Arlecchino observed the girl's growing rage, her own expression as smooth as a still lake, not even a ripple of uncontrolled emotion. She didn't feel threatened. Her upbringing had been one of violence and survival, honed into a keen edge by the time she dethroned the previous Knave.
She never discounted the possibility that she would be challenged, and intended to meet it when the moment came.
"Your emotions drive you." Her gaze was piercing. "It's not bad if they are apart of your motivation, but if you let them control you..."
She made a crushing motion with her hand, then let her fingers unfurl as if scattering invisible ash upon the floor.
"Don't start something that you won't be willing to see to the end, whatever the consequences may be," she advised, both because Alice seemed like she may just attack the Knave, knowing her strength, and because of that drive for knowledge about her father that had agitated her so dearly.
Now look at this woman smiling and grinning, trying to make fun of her! It's getting harder to hold herself back, but for the sake of William's reputation she holds herself back, and also --- the fact she's one of the fatui harbingers it'll be very dumb to try and attack her, and she understood it well.
Nevertheless, Alice could barely keep up with the growing rage, which shows in her body changing as well. Once in a while, she didn't worry about it as much as she usually does, though revealing her true nature is risky nonetheless.
Alice's hands weren't revealing the ice, but her fingernails sharpened a bit too as if she was getting ready to fight, but in fact, she knew she stood no chances against one of the fatui harbingers, let off that she's the fourth, almost one of more powerful of them all.

Dottore kept his eyes intent on hers, without a blink to give her reprieve from his gaze. He watched as the weight of the situation fully closed its many-toothed trap around her, and she closed her eyes in surrender.
He held that moment for a few seconds longer, squeezing her face tighter, his own breath slow and calm.
And then he released her. He straightened up, and placed the bloodied scalpel to the side. Slowly, methodically, he removed his gloves and tossed them, before fetching a second pair.
Latex snapped at the wrist once he pulled them on secure. He returned to the table, unhurried. Bit by bit he gathered various supplies, so that he could treat the injury that he had caused - and worsened, to make a point.
It would be a shame if she bled out, but his was a cold anger that he hadn't yet come down from. If she died, it wasn't his problem.
"I'm glad we understand each other," he said, and smiled, regardless of whether she opened her eyes to see it. "Do try and calm down, and I'll treat your arm now."
Elyon was still desesperately fighting to breath when the blade pierced through her arm. And the one thing she could clearly feel was the pain from the extra pressure applied on the injury and the blade sliding through her skin with ease. She shut her eyes close as she felt her heart squeeze, struggling within her restrains to not avail.
The cold metal of the table clinging on her back but what really felt awfully painful was the injury he had cut open. Her fist almost moved to a close as she tried her best to endure. Her lungs on fire from the terrible coughing waves which came with each failed screams. The smaller girl could feel her blood escaping from the injury as the pressure from the wound almost dulled, heavy pants escaping her lips , each breathing burnt her throat raw.
She was terrified, there was no way out and so much pain, she had to get out of here, but how ? Her mind froze on the spot when she felt his grip on her jaw, her gaze forced from above her to his face, something she wished to not have to see again. The feeling of her own blood pressed on her face with the metallic sent got her to flinch noticeably.
His words stabbed through her mind as well as his knife did through her injury. Ocean hues focused on him with deep horror. Trembling from the pain and stress and fear of the man. The hopelessness and dangerousness of her situation slowly slithering in. Her breathing falling short to quick intakes and exhales. Her voice failed her, be it physically or psychologically, closing her eyes as a proof of her surrender.

Lynette noticed the way Elyon flinched at the brush of the petals on her cheek, and her stomach twisted guiltily. Despite that, she completed the trick without a misstep in her flat act of "showmanship".
She sat back down next to the other girl, mirroring the faint swing of her legs. She wished that Lyney where there as well, because he was much better at cheering someone up than she.
"No problem. That's what a magician is supposed to do, make people happy or whatever." Lynette didn't have strong feelings about their "magic", though she enjoyed it, and so the explanation may have come across as careless.
She did, however, know that she was rather skilled in it, and that people did enjoy it, and so she was glad to make use of it in that way for a friend. It was much easier than thinking of the right words to say or the correct behaviors to perform while consoling someone.
"I should get Lyney to show you that trick. He does it much better than me," she admitted. She didn't apologize for causing Elyon distress, because she thought that the other girl might prefer it not be noticed, much less remarked upon.
Lynette would simply have to be more careful about it in the future.
Elyon's current predicament disapearing out of her mind as easily as Lynette made the flower appear or vanish at will. Her previous anxiety and frustration vanishing with a quite literal magic trick as Elyon leant forward with the enthusiasm and curiosity of a child ot observe her friend.
Tumblr media
Watching Lynette hold her hands together and make the flower vanish again, somehow. Elyon's eyes widdened, her head moving repeatedly from left to right by mean of alternated tilting, as if different angle of view would explain the phenomenon. " Huh?!" Small confused noise escaped from the map maker's lips.
Elyon's head recoiled in confusion and a bit of reflex panic when Lynette's hand approached her. Trace of the lingering anxiety from her escaping two kidnaping attempts. Her shoulders tensed a bit when she felt something brush her cheek, but her anxiety melted away as a flower came in view.
She knew Lynette meant no harm and felt bad for being so tense around the other. A small laugh errupted from her lips as she looked at the magician assistant. " Thanks _ Lynette." Elyon's voice was soft, perhaps learning toward the wearrier side of the vocal range. Legs swinging faintly, she really needed tha distraction and was glad for it, she just felt sorry for going back at being tense so fast.

He hoped that this didn't royally bite him in the butt like a wild boar could, but after so long of thinking about doing it the young adventurer finally felt the courage in the moment to go for it. The teenagers were standing in the level above the main square where fireworks were being set off by several knights and citizens were crowded all around in anticipation. He'd been holding Barbara's hand for a couple minutes prior to midnight hitting, and maybe that was where some of the courage had come from, knowing she let him do those little affectionate touches.
When the fireworks began going off into the sky of course Bennett's attention was on that for a moment since fireworks were a rare thing for them to see, but after a few seconds of the spectacle his gaze was moving to the blonde next to him and he squeezed Barbara's hand just enough to get her attention.
It wasn't long, just a moment or two at most before shyness took back over, but as Bennett leaned in to gently press his lips to Barbara's his heart was hammering and he held on securely to her hand so she would know that this wasn't an accident, he wanted to do that; he wanted Barbara to be his first kiss. And when he pulled away enough to open his eyes and look at her again, the dark of the night would hide how red his cheeks were, but not hide the bashful and happy smile on his lips.
Barbara's breath caught in her throat as the fireworks set off. Their explosions drummed upon her heart and the colorful lights illuminated the night with an instant of dazzling glow. The noise drowned out her laugh of delight, before the squeeze of her hand drew her attention to Bennett at her side.
Her lashes fluttered questioningly. A moment later, she saw him lean closer, deliberately, and understanding washed over her.
Before nerves could strike, before she could overthink, Bennett kissed her, and a second round of fireworks went off in her stomach. He pulled away, smiling bashfully at her through the dark, and she giggled giddily, squeezing his hand back harder than he had to hers, because she didn't know how else to communicate how welcomed the kiss had been.
Her cheeks burned hot enough to set off a fuse on their own.

He drew a breath to answer, only for her to quickly cut off any chance of a response, continuing on with her flat rejection. His temple throbbed, irritation flashing hot through his body. It took great effort to not react to his bruised pride, internally nursing it as he brought the temperature of his mood back to zero.
Dottore grew increasingly aware of the path of his breath, through his nostrils, cold as it streamed down his throat, inflating his lungs to max capacity. Then it followed the same path in reverse, warm as it filtered past his lips.
It helped ground him, kept him from reacting poorly.
"I agree. It would be very stupid, and clearly you are not. Otherwise the book would be in my hands already," he said, speaking slowly and deliberately. "I have no intention of possessing it. I wish nothing more than to nurture another scholar's research, and see it to its fullest potential. The worst fate that I can see for somebody's life's work is for it to gather dust in the shadows, fall forgotten by time, or else become limited by something else."
Most of what he said was given in utmost honesty. Before the Doctor's expulsion from the Akademiya, he already disagreed deeply with the rules that limited research.
"I don't mean to cast doubt on your own abilities, my dear," he said. "But there is good reason why many researchers work in pairs, or even groups. Putting together the brainpower of multiple brilliant minds brings quicker progress, and more profound results."
He smiled a pleasant smile. It had been a long time since he bothered to turn to charm as his chosen tool.
"Don't you agree?"
Oh, there were even more dangerous things than just the irrational fear of the notebook is lost or coming to harm---there was even the worst possibility of the fatui laying their hands on the father's whole life research. And as his own successor, Alice never wished it to happen, so she almost guarded it with her life.
Tumblr media
«What do you mean by....a scholar?»
As far as she knew, scholars were studying in the Sumeru Akademiya, and William was one at some point. However, he threw this idea off because he desired his way of researching. Even though his methods were acceptable, his thinking seemed a bit different from that of other scholars, so they didn't accept him, and as a result, he stayed with his research in the shadows for a long time. Until he did a research of his own and was recruited by the Fatui, that's it.
Tumblr media
«...nevermind, I don't care. I did tell it's mine, haven't I? This research I work on, and I'm not going to blindly show it to everyone who desires it.  That's kind of stupid, don't you think?»
After all, sharing her dearly kept secret with a stranger wasn't a good look. She did struggled a lot with the notebook, but won't admit it in front of anyone that simple. Alice tries her best to resist his logic, because she feels alarmed by his very presence. It's his persistence that confuses her,and also startles: he sounded pretty confident, to the point that now she began to consider letting him view it, but still, the hesitation was too strong.
«I can handle it myself, and I don't need anyone! I made great progress recently…so why do I show it to you again?»
Unfortunately, her voice didn't sound that confident, unlike the men's. It's still possible to catch her off guard, even in these defense states. Trying to be as attentive as she is, she hasn't got enough experience which might show her the right person from the wrong one. She's still so easy to trick and play with, even though tried her best not to be.

"Right, right, right, of course. Calm." She said it like a mantra, her words stumbling over her tongue. Sucrose adjusted her glasses several times over, her high-stress evident in her frenetic energy, despite her having every intention of getting herself back under control.
One thing that did help was to take a careful breath, shifting her thoughts instead onto the subjects of her experiments.
"That's right. I actually specialize in bioalchemy. Nothing nearly so incredible as what Master Albedo can do - he's the Chief Alchemist, I'm one of his assistants," she added swiftly, her ears bobbing along with the nod of her head.
"I've been able to create an anemo elemental - still unstable, and pretty dangerous, but it's great progress - and so I thought about working on a hydro elemental as well. They don't have any semblance of sentience, as far as I can tell, which is probably a good thing, otherwise we'd have to discuss the ethical issues of bringing conscious lifeforms through scientific means."
She spoke quickly, dizzied by the lack of air, and so she took a quick gulp before continuing.
"Anyway, sorry, I don't suppose you're interested in the long answer of it. I just get so excited, and normally I don't talk to anyone but Timaeus and Master Albedo about my experiments, so I can get carried away."
A nervous giggle bubbled from her throat.
"Well, ideally not too many but... yes. It would involve more explosions. But indoor ones, where I can control the environment better, change factors until I narrow it down."
Elyon thought for a moment that Sucrose better be sorry, she did cause an explosion in a public area and Elyon could have been injured. But nothing bad actually happened so it felt like the green haired woman's reaction was a bit too much. If anything a nervious explosion-causing woman felt incredibly more tricky. " Calm down." Elyon advised, raising her left hand before lowering it, as if manually lowering the other's stress level.
Tumblr media
Elyon listened to the other and gave out a sigh, it made sense that Elyon would see a doctor if the symptoms didn't withdrew or that the other would be willing to pay for the bill. " fine." Elyon agreed after a bit of mulling, it would be frustrating if more people fretted over it and it would happen if she explained to the doctor that she had been caught in a blast.
" Artificial _ elementals ?" Elyon's voice nerly broke in confusion, how could someone even come up with that idea let alone go through it. It was baffling in the least negative way - today's result aside- it got Elyon rather curious over the other's field of activity . But anything else pertaining to pondering over it would have to wait another time.
Elyon nodded in agreement, she had seen some hidro slimes burst from afar , mostly because of elemental reactions. But for it to literally explode, it was quite a different feat.
Sucrose's comment about more experiments got Elyon mildly concerned but the teasing hint of a smile danced on her lips as the map maker spoke over her recedding ringing. " more outdoors_ explosions ? "
