PAKHALA DIVAS: 2023 Wishing each and everyone out there a very HAPPY VISWA PAKHALA DIVAS in advance.. it’s on 20th of March, but I’m celebrating it with my family and Conosh on 19th of March which is a Sunday. Booking Link is available in my stories and my bio.. Pakhala is not only a dish but emotion for all Odias around the world. We Odias are very proud of our rich heritage and culture, we all know how food is an integral part of our culture. Making around 15- 16 vegetarian and 5 non vegetarian dishes in total to along with the Pakhala. I am making Dahi Chhunka Pakhala which is basically cooked rice soaked in water, tempered with Cumin, mustard seeds and fennel seed along with crushed ginger, chillies, curry leaves and raw mangoes (amba kasi) and added curd and slices of lemon on top. Pakhala will be served with various side dishes called BHAJA-CHHANA, TARKARI , PODA-JALA and PAGAW-BHARTA-CHATUNI and to finish off this meal on a sweet note .. there is something in the MITHA - PITHA too.. Striking the cheesy touristy pose in front of Petronas Twin Towers… Well, I had to… After all, it’s World’s Tallest Twin Towers and the Modern Architectural Pride of Malaysia. Fun Fact: A project this big would usually require eight years, but the Malaysian budget only accounted for six. To ensure that the towers were completed on schedule in 6 years, the government gave the contract for the construction of Tower 1 to a Japanese company with Tower 2 constructed by a South Korean firm. INTERNATIONAL PAKHALA DIVAS CELEBRATIONS with Family On 20th March, we celebrate World Pakhala Divas, a trend which was created few years back on twitter giving it the recognition it very much needed. Sunday was International Pakhala Divas, and my kitchen was very very busy cooking up a storm for the special occasion.. Made around 15vegetarian and 5 non vegetarian dishes in total.. kinda over did I think but it was fun. At the end I was very very tired but so so happy and felt a sense of achievement..
