Perfect continuous conditional? To me this sounds better as “we would have been a family.” I’m trying to think of it in the scope of other languages (Spanish, for example – habríamos sido una familia, where again its a form of the conditional of haber, an auxiliary, and the participle form of ser). Then again, if it’s a conlang, you could always make your own tense... thoughts?

I have a quick question. I can't figure out how to set rules for conjugating something in a conlang because I can't think of the name of the tense. It's the tense for what the future was going to be, in the past. Like, in Moment A, Moment B was the future, except Moment B didn't happen and can never happen, and now we're in Moment C, where Moment A is in the past. (The example I'm trying to conjugate is "we were going to be a family". Specifically, the person's spouse died).

It’s not that i’m sexist, I just remember a time, when I held the door open for a girl, and she began to scream and cry. “You oppressive piece of shit,” she began to say, and when I tried to calm her, she kicked my way. I used self defense, and moments later she was on the ground. The cops were called, and I’m writing this from prison now. It’s not that I hate women, just a selective few, the ones who abuse the system, and many of them do.

My favorite method of learning pronunciation in another language is singing. 

I spent the hours I travel on the bus singing reggaeton and have almost no accent when speaking Spanish. 

Bollywood soundtracks helped me master the ड़ sound. 

One of my students struggled with the English w sound and I had him sing the song “I Want It That Way” and he can say it almost perfectly. 

Sing. Even if you suck. Sing.

I’ve found myself thinking about this text recently, and... it’s just so fascinating. This is the poem “ Namárië” (Farewell, also called Galadriel’s Lament). The poem is from the Lord of the Rings series, by J. R. R. Tolkien, written in Quenya (Elvish, the text above I believe is Tengwar script?). Seriously, how does one mind think of all of this? The text reads, in Quenya and in English, as follows.

Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen, yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron! Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier mi oromardi lisse-miruvóreva Andúnë pella, Vardo tellumar nu luini yassen tintilar i eleni ómaryo airetári-lírinen. Sí man i yulma nin enquantuva? Saw this video in my suggested videos, and I thought it was SO funny. Holly (who is a wonderful Youtube Spanish teacher, go ahead and check her channel out) has lost her voice, so her husband (a native Spanish speaker from Mexico) voices over her video while she does a make up tutorial for her daily look. I’ve also never done a vocab list before either, so here's a brief list of some Spanish makeup vocab used in the video!

So today, while looking for some Esperanto poetry, I learned that the opening(?) song of Final Fantasy XI actually has a section sung in Esperanto!!! Is that not absolutely incredible? Of course, I can’t simply stop with that knowledge right there, so here’s my take on the translation.

Memoro de la Sxtono Fluas nun sango senkulpa Sur Vana’diel, vasta ter’ Tremas la tuta mond’ Pro l’ plago en desper’. Preventas gxin nenia sort’, Haltigas gxin nenia fort’.

The problem with following multiple langblrs/studyblrs is seeing #bujo, reading #buHo in your head with a Spanish j, wondering why they put “#owl”, then remembering the word for owl is not bujo, but búho... You know what, maybe this is just a me problem...

Super excited for my friend who just found out she’s going to ITALY for her mission! She’ll be spending two years there, so my challenge is to be just as fluent as she is when she comes back. Conversation practice, anyone?
