Regency Mermaid
This one went super fast. I saw a portrait, felt inspired and away I went! On a different note I will be effectively unreachable in August, don’t worry nothing too dramatic is happening, but due to unforeseen circumstances I’ll be taking a social media break for a bit. So if you are looking for me, want to ask a question, or have a commission idea, I won’t be able to respond until the very end of August. I hope you have a great month, and I’ll see you later! 💖💖💖
I am the artist! Do not post without permission & credit! Thank you! Come visit me over on: instagram.com/ellenartistic or tiktok: @ellenartistic

the weird schrödinger's emotion that is "that character death was narratively satisfying and emotionally impactful and ultimately the best way to handle their character arc" simultaneously with "noooo but I wanted them to live :( :( :("

“I like your gift,’ said Mrs. Pentstemmon. ‘It brings life to things”. -Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
By Kelsey Hamersley. August 2013. Sharpie on vellum (I did a rougher pencil drawing and drew with the vellum over that; Tony DiTerlizzi inspired me). Howl’s Moving Castle-inspired, in a vague way. I’m not happy with how her face came out (I have the awfullest time trying to capture Sophie!). But the style was oh-so-much fun. :) More Howl’s Moving Castle-esque imagery (not mine) on my Pinterest board.

“If Sophie or Howl had had any attention to spare, they might had noticed that Prince Justin, Wizard Suliman, and Mrs. Fairfax were all trying to speak to Howl, and that Fanny, Martha, and Lettie were all plucking at Sophie’s sleeves, while Michael was dragging at Howl’s jacket. (…) But Sophie and Howl were holding one another’s hands and smiling and smiling, quite unable to stop. “Don’t bother me now,” said Howl.”

Dear video essay creators. A video analysis is when you analyze a piece of media. No no look at me. A summary, no matter how thorough, is not an analysis. An analysis requires you to draw conclusions about the media such as authorial intent, real-world parallels, discussion about themes/worldbuilding/character motivation, and so much more. You have to stop summarizing something and saying that’s analysis. The Gaylors are doing more critical analysis than you. Is that who you want to lose to? The gaylors?
#too much summary not enough food#if you have more summary than analysis you really just prove you didn't have anything to really say so you fillered#video essays
