i feel the exact same way. honestly thomas’ behavior is making me want to leave the fandom entirely. i’ve already basically created my own interps of the characters that are so far from canon (since thomas is literally destroying the nuances and beauty of the characters with each episode) that it’s hard to even put him next to them anymore.
you guys probably have noticed that i started reblogging a bunch of ts criticism lately, and that’s because i’m on my last fucking straw. the last thing i want is to leave the fandom i love so dearly, but all of Thomas’ bullshit [and some other things] has thrown me so deep into an art block, i can’t draw anything even unrelated to the series.
i’ll try to continue drawing fanart of the characters i love but it’s getting so fucking hard.

They need to remove the "convicted felon" option from job applications, and anything else that requires you to say whether or not you have a criminal history. Because CLEARLY if we can have a convicted felon in the white house, then convicted felons everywhere should be allowed to get jobs, should be allowed to vote, etc.

They called it… they fucking called it
To those who were eligible to vote but refused cuz of Harris- well congratulations! That orange fucker won. Hope you’re happy. Also don’t start bitching when all of our rights starts to get taken away (reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, etc.) we fucking warned you. We warned you that if you didn’t vote then trump was more likely to win. Also you pulling this stunt- isn’t gonna help Palestine. Y’all claim that you are pro Palestine but after this election- you just proved that you really don’t give a damn about them. So congrats!

i hate when people try to say that dear evan hansen is a good musical and that it deserved the tony.
it’s literally one of the shittiest musicals ever written.
ā€œbut evan is supposed to be complex, he’s supposed to be morally gray!ā€
then the writers should have done a better job of portraying that. half of the audience who sees deh walk out of it feeling pity for evan and wanting to forgive him when that’s not the point! the point is that people with mental health problems are infantilized to the point where it hurts both them and the people who are doing the infantilizing, and that people with mental health problems are HUMAN which therefore means they are JUST AS CAPABLE OF EVIL. the point is also that intention doesn’t equal effect! but pasek and paul did a GODAWFUL job at portraying that.
also all the songs sound the same and they are all shit.
and ben platt is not that good of a singer, he sounds like a goat.
and don’t think i didn’t notice that the only poc in the obc was the smallest and least influential role, and was also heavily demonized in the show, even more so than evan (im talking about alana).
great comet and come from away are SO MUCH BETTER. they’re both about mental health and morally gray characters too, but it’s done in a much more mature, fleshed out, and cohesive way that isn’t just a bunch of white 30 something dudes wanting to relive their high school days.
great comet recontextualizes war and peace, exposing its heavily relevant and poignant themes in a way that audiences in the 21st century can grasp without losing the magic of the legendary prose. as much as i hate tolstoy, this particular interpretation is a beautiful rendition of a shockingly resonant story with such a fantastic arc and even better music.
i cant even describe how amazing come from away is. the fact that it expresses such joy and exuberance while also balancing the chilling horrors of what it was like to be alive during 9/11. it takes my breath away. the fact that every actor played at least two massively different roles with different accents and mannerisms takes SO much talent, and i adore that the obc is so representative of what a group of ordinary humans smushed together by chance looks like, and that it’s not just a bunch of 20 somethings.
great comet and come from away were robbed because deh brought in more money. that’s the cold hard truth of it. but money doesn’t mean everything. it’s so clear what the better musicals are.

No, I’m fucking not. I’m not your parent. My past-times do not automatically sign me up to act in loco parentis. If you need someone else to monitor your own content consumption online, go get mommy and/or daddy to set up a content blocker on your computer.

well you didn’t phrase the post very well at all, bro šŸ˜…
you have to admit that the way you wrote it was very scornful in attitude towards roman 😭
but i appreciate the clarification
I really hope Thomas doesn't play into the fanon stereotypes of the characters tbh. specifically Patton. Patton is kind of manipulative and guilt trippy. And i kind of hope Thomas knows that and kind of rolls with it (And maybe Orange becomes the #1 Roman defender and calls out basically everyone lol)
I'm not dissing Thomas or anything just my opinion on the series rn (I love Thomas btw)
Patton is flawed, and I won't disagree with that, he has his guilt trippy moments for sure, and he can be manipulative even if he doesn't realize it. Honestly he reminds me of a stereotypical southern white mom who truly wants the best for people but struggles when the best is outside his usual understanding. He's kind and genuniely caring but can't help but throw the sunniest shade. I want Thomas to roll with that.
As far as Orange goes, I don't really have any hopes in particular. I don't know if I can see him being #1 Roman defender so much as #1 callout king for everyone, especially Roman. Janus proved that you really can't defend Roman without getting burned.
Orange would absolutely rip into Roman's self doubt, his attitude, and his pride. Roman didn't learn from discussion (the trial) and he won't learn from friendly words or brotherly annoyances. This prince needs a fight and if the embodiment of fight-or-flight won't provide, maybe Orange can
And it's cool to vent your frustrations every so often, it's not like you're attacking the guy

no offense but i hate this take.
the last thing roman needs is ANOTHER person calling him out.
poor roman can NEVER win in the fandom’s eyes. he bends himself backwards to try and make the others happy. he works so hard to be the best creativity he can be, he’s constantly apologizing and groveling and changing himself to make the others happier with him.
he barely even has his own identity anymore. all he does is follow whoever guilt trips him the most. it’s horrible.
roman needs someone in his corner. someone who doesn’t just use him for their own personal gain. because that’s what both patton and janus have been doing for the ENTIRE FUCKING SEASON.
roman doesn’t need a fight. he doesn’t need to be told off about his ā€œprideā€. he has NO MORE OF THAT. absolutely none. whatever is left is nothing but a halfhearted act. his spark has DIED.
right now this series just feels like roman vs. everyone (but virgil).
the LAST thing the series needs is another nail in his coffin when honestly roman tries harder to improve himself than patton ever has.

i LOVE this.
and from janus’ end, what is he thinking about all this?
i mean it’s explicitly stated that janus is only kind to roman when he wants something from him.
but maybe when janus realizes how much roman sacrificed, not just for his own agenda but for JANUS’, despite him knowing full well that he’ll lose everything, it makes janus wonder if roman really deserves to be treated like a toy.
maybe he decides to amend his ways and become roman’s sole ally.
or maybe he doesn’t, and when roman finds out that he’s nothing but a pawn to janus and that really, he’s all alone, what happens? what is the ego without respect, or friendship, or even basic appreciation?
i feel like roman would fall completely apart in this scenario, like whatever the metaphorical equivalent to disintegrating is. which is such a huge contrast from the outcome of the first option i laid out.
idk i just like thinking about roman.
Kind of mentally working on an au thingy rn.
So what if Roman decided "screw it" and said that thomas was still going to the callback, even though Patton wasn't fully on board?
What if Janus was praising and complimenting him the whole time, and Roman was willing to strain his relationships with Patton and Virgil by following Janus more readily in the sake of success?
So maybe they don't even win the callback, and now Roman has gone against Patton and upset Virgil for nothing.
Or maybe they do win the callback, and Thomas' career starts to really take off from there. And as happy and excited as Roman (and Janus) is by this, he can't help but wonder if it was worth losing the respect of two people he still cares about.
However it goes, it still ends the same: by favoring Janus and his own goal over his friends, Roman finds himself rejected by Patton for being selfish and shunned by Virgil for taking Janus' side.
He still has Janus, supporting and flattering him the whole way, but Roman can't help but notice that lately Janus is the only one who's said anything nice to him after the courtroom.

Patton, walking up to the group after being kidnapped: What are you guys doing?
Roman, about to climb through a window: Uh- We're here to save you?
Patton, tearing up: You were going to save me?
Logan:..Yes. It was a really good plan too..
Patton, smiling widely: Awe! Well I can go back inside and you can still do it! I mean the bad guys are all unconscious but still!
Logan:..No need for that, Patton.
