Projectile Motion
It is motion in a plane or motion in two dimensions.
A projectile is a particle, which is given an initial velocity, and then moves under gravitational force. We assume that particle is projected obliquely near the earth’s surface so that acceleration due to gravity can be considered constant. We also neglect the resistance of air and assume the motion as it’s in vacuum.

Graphical Representation of Motion
If displacement of a body is plotted on Y axis and time on X axis, the curve obtained is called displacement – time graph. The instantaneous velocity at any time can be obtained from the graph by finding the slope of tangent at that point.
case 1 : If the graph obtained is straight line, parallel to x – axis. i.e. there is no change in…

Vertical Motion
Motion in vertical direction
Projection of a body vertically upwards
A body is projected vertically upwards from a point A with initial velocity u. Take upward direction as positive. g is the acceleration due to gravity in opposite direction, i.e. negative direction. So at any time t,
-> velocity, v = u – gt

Motion in one dimension
Motion in One Dimension
Consider a particle is moving on straight line, AB. For simplicity we consider this line as x-axis and can choose any reference point as 0 co-ordinate. We call it origin. Generally we take right direction as positive and left as negative direction. You can assume otherwise as well i.e. left side positive and right side negative. At any point, if a particle is at point B,…

Kinematics : Speed, Velocity & Acceleration
Distance, Displacement, Speed, Velocity & Acceleration

Let’s go through few definition first –
Mechanics : Mechanics is the study of the motion of masses and of the effect of forces in causing or modifying these motions.
Kinematics : Kinematics is the study of the characteristics of different kinds of motion without reference to the forces involved. Kinematics
Kinematics deals with position,…
