I just noticed one of your zionist comments and found myself deeply confused when looking at your dash, how do you watch arcane and ATLA? is it not ruined when you realise that you are the bad guys? that you are the colonising fire nation, that you are the piltover police? does it not feel weird to larp as a leftist despite being pro colonisation? im genuinely interested in your view here as i dont think i could square that in my own head, im interested how you view it in yours
i will try to be very clear since reading comprehension is in absolute shambles on this site, as is on every other social media and explain everything with patience. Since you asked, i will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are actually going to read everything i write and that your intention is to learn, not to blindly follow the mindless brainwashed crowd. If i am mistaken in this assumption, you can just leave now because i will list facts and you will not like them. First of all, i have no idea why you kids feel like Zionism is a bad thing. Zionism is a belief that Jews, just like everyone else, has a right to their own state. So if you don't believe that, you are not a good guy, you are an antisemitic racist. Second, my nation has been colonised for over 1000 years. So your whole strawman about me being a coloniser made me laugh a lot. I am very anti-colonialist. And that is precisely why I stand on the side of indigenous people, including the Jews in Israel. It takes a superior level of ignorance of historical facts to perpetrate this blatantly false narrative that Jews are the settlers in their own sacred ancestral land. It's like saying Northern Ireland is and was always English so all Irish people should go back to their original place, the Republic of Ireland. We have archeological evidence of the Kingdom of Israel and Kingdom of Judah from almost 3000 years ago, 1000 years before the name Palestine appeared for the first time. And this colonialist name came from Roman invadors when they decinated Jewish anticolonialist revolt against Roman imperialism in the 1st century CE. Before that it was called Province Judaea. After the indigenous uprising was destroyed, it was renamed Province of Syria-Palaestina. Jews were still living here, but many of them were expelled. When the Arabic ancestors of current 'Palestinians' colonised this region in 7th century, they also wrote about it as the land of Israel. Arabs built their mosque on top of the most holy Jewish place, the Second Jerusalem temple. And kept spreading. So no my dear child, i am not on the side of Arabic colonisers, i am on the side of indigenous people who finally managed to decolonise after almost 2 millennia. If you are on the side of colonisers who openly present their genocidal intent, that is something you need to reckon with in your young mind. I have a master's degree in history, my master's thesis was about Apartheid in South Africa. I know for a fact there is no apartheid in Israel. On the other hand, there is in Iran for example. I know for a fact that there was no occupation before October 7th 2023, because there were absolutely no Jews in Gaza. And i also know for a fact that China has been occupying Tibet for over 70 years and none of you care, just because you can't blame this on Jews. I also know that there has been a genocide and ethnic cleansing of Jews in Arabic world because i have looked at the population of Jews in all of these countries in 1940s and now, which went from thousands, even tens of thousands in every one of them to double digit at most, despite living in those countries for centuries. Many Jews currently living in Israel fled from those countries to escape persecution and death. Now you need to ask yourself a very important question. Are Jews also people? Do they also deserve to live in peace? If yes, congratulations, you are a Zionist. If no, you can stop pretending you are a leftist or that you care about people. None of you people protested when there was an actual genocide in Darfur. I have not seen a single post here about the Druze in Syria. So i would love for you people to stop pretending you care when you never even bothered to check facts and only follow tiktok trends spoonfed to you by literal terrorist organisation. I am sure i missed many important points so feel free to ask follow-up questions, i am a teacher with 15 years of practice and i love explaining basic facts to people. Good day.

Ok minor detail but ...
So I noticed in A:TLA, and it’s carried over in LoK, that Airbenders always seem to have an advantage in a fight. And at first, it felt like plot armour, particularly in A:TLA.
But when Aang fought Bumi, he lost most of that advantage. And I realised that this wasn’t just plot armour. Someone had sat and worked it out: nobody has had to fight Airbenders for generations.
None of the other nations have had to train to face them, or practised sparring with them, or anything. Apart from Bumi, no bender in the show has ever even met an airbender before Aang comes along. And in LoK, for the most part people still haven’t. We never see fights between those who have (for e.g. we never see Tenzin and Lin fight); when Korra and Tenzin use airbending, its a unique fighting style that people aren’t trained to manage.
It’s a really small detail, and it fundamentally works to give the heroes an advantage (and make up for Aang’s young age and lack of combat experience), but I love how it’s an advantage in combat for completely logical reasons.
The detail in these shows is amazing.

For Day 6 of Domestic Caitvi Week a little Summer Rain :) Don't think too much about how long she went without rain...
The downpour starts and Caitlyn is immediately running for the house but Vi just stretches like 'nah imma enjoy this'
And then comes in afterwards like she attended a wet T-shirt contest (which... yes please) and probably catches a cold 2 days later :D Always worth it though

god the half of it (2020) is so good. the emphasis on finding meaning and emotion both in art and philosophy, but also the quiet and miraculous mundanity of food and connection. this being contrasted routinely by loneliness ("gravity is matter's response to loneliness" / "must be nice [not to believe in god]" "no, it's not. it's... lonely") because of queerness, race, and interests, juxtaposed again by those who can assimilate more successfully but at what cost vs those who cannot but also feel more subsequently limited. the respect and reverence it affords solitude and creativity while also celebrating different kinds of love: not only queerness, but queerness as a sociopolitical identity on disavowing amatanormativity and valuing friendship above all else. love being the effort you put into your relationships, the way it's never too late to find your people in unexpected places, the centring of understanding and being fully truly seen. the journey towards self actualization and beginnings because fear and hope are two halves of the same whole. the importance of finding your boldest stroke and following through. to be a boy running after a girl on a train not because he's in love with her, but because he Loves Her. "this is not a Love Story," but it is a story overflowing with love.

This feels like a rant after someone read a book by Travis Baldree recently. And mentioning him I have to say, the problem is not cozy books. Not every books needs a big plot. But if there is hardly any plot, it needs to be character driven, which means that your characters, especially the MC needs to have a character, not just sort of be there and once in a while say something. If there is not much going on externally, there should be something going on internally. It doesn't have to be huge or groundbreaking, but it needs to feel real and relatable. Otherwise all you have is empty words on pages. A lot of them, but still just words...
I think another trend I've seen recently is the lack of Real Problems. The main characters face a threat from an encrouching overlord - but one of them is the most Magical Person Ever from page 1 and can just turn the guy into an ant. The love interests have an argument that may endanger their relationship - but nope, by the next chapter they've made up and the fight wasn't that big of a deal.
Conflict, both external and internet, is the guiding force behind plot, but I do understand why it can be lacking. It can be really hard to put your characters into a Situation and to keep making that Situation Even Worse, but it's also the only way to really earn a satisfying conclusion.
This doesn't mean every story has to be bombastic or over the top. Quiet, character-driven stories still have conflict within them (MC gets fired, breaks up with his boyfriend, avoids honest conversation with their mom, etc) that drives the story into a deeper understanding of that character and why they are the way they are.
If your character can solve their problems from the start, you need to either take that ability away or create a Situation preventing them from doing so. Without that, your worldbuilding feels flat, your plot meanders, and your characters come off as tropes and not relatable beings.
