. . . . gimmie a minutes.....
whumper throws a shovel at whumpee, almost hitting their head, "follow me, i have a job for you."
whumpee pushes themself up and picks the shovel up, "where are we going?"
whumper keeps walking without a word, they go outside and through the woods where a body lays on the ground, "get to digging, we don't have much time before the sun comes up"

Another Proxy one-shot. Tentatively titled 'Poison'
The spell that sealed the door clicked into place the same time as the latch when it shut behind Proxy. They flinched, suspicion rising up their spine as they looked back at the door.
“Hello?” they chirped, and took a few steps into the rather large room. It was warm with a fireplace to one side, bed and vanity table to the other. The woman sitting at the vanity held an effortless pose as she stood, turning towards Proxy with cold, sharp eyes and sharper teeth. “Hello,” she said, somewhere between a coo and a hiss.
“I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else.” Proxy’s eyes narrowed on the woman as their head tilted to the side. This was not who they were expecting. The energy was all wrong. This was not Her.
Proxy felt a flash of rage surge up their spine, and their eyes became golden slits as they leveled on the woman at the Vanity. “Though, now that I'm here-” they started and took another, firmer, step towards the woman, a sneer creasing their face. “I don’t know how you found me but I-” They stopped, a soft scent in the air made them freeze. Is it her after all? No. Proxy squeezed their eyes shut and shook their head, recoiling from the smell.
“You what?” she sneered and flicked her hand.
Proxy was suddenly hanging off the ground by a large hand around their throat. They gave a small choke with the force, struggling against the hold of the large brutish creature that had them. Proxy’s claws extended and dug into the arm of the creature, earning them a roar of pain followed by a swift meeting with the wall as the creature threw them away. The wall caved and splintered with the force of impact  showering Proxy in wood shards as they hit the ground with a solid thud. Proxy’s vision came back in time to register that they were on the ground, head bleeding, and the creature grabbed their leg, ripping them off the ground.
The woman, almost delighted, waved her hand again and the creature stopped, holding a dazed Proxy aloft. “Drop it.” the woman commanded and the creature obeyed.
Proxy hit the floor harshly and coughed as the wind was forced from their lungs. They laid there panting, eyes too heavy to open. They were aware of the weight of their body, each limb seeming a mountain of effort to move. Proxy swallowed tightly as the woman bent down, whispering in their ear. “You have always been so easy to play, you know…” she purred, leaning over Proxy’s form. Proxy groaned, and rolled over. “That was cheating…” they managed and they pulled themselves up to a shaky stand. They rolled their head around on their neck, a few bones popping back into place. Proxy faced the woman again and the looming creature behind her and sneered, blood still trickling down the back of their neck. They straightened their back and took a deep breath feeling their mana reset. “What’s there to do, little podzol?” the woman teased with a laugh. Proxy vanished suddenly, reappearing behind the creature. They slammed an enchanted rod into the creatures back before disappearing again. The creature roared, rattling the room and the rod began arcing, engulfing the creature in a storm of electricity. It howled in pain as it bagan thrashing, trying to remove the rod from its back.
The woman sneered and was forced to dodge her flailing golum. She threw herself to the side, keeping the bed between her and her puppet. Proxy reappeared again next to the woman, grabbed her arm and spun, throwing her into the creature anyway. The woman hit and screamed as the lightning consumed her temporarily before she collapsed to the floor in a smoking heap. Proxy couldn't help the laugh that bubbled from their throat. The creature had been slammed into the wall and collapsed over itself, the rod sticking up from its back like a twisted birthday candle, continuing to arc. The woman pulled herself up glaring at Proxy, who, for their part, at least stopped laughing. Proxy grinned defiantly at the woman, fangs bared as she pulled herself up to a stand.
The woman heaved a sigh and took a moment to fix herself. She ran her hands through her hair and down her dress to smooth them out as the burns across her body healed. She glared at Proxy, who only seemed to actually tense once she freed the rod from the creature’s back. It stopped arcing and plunged the room into a heavy silence. She sighed lightly, and smiled venomously. “Enough now.” She snapped her fingers and threw her arm to the side, creating an invisible wall that smashed into Proxy sending them flying at the nearby wall.
Proxy laid in a crumpled heap on the floor as their eyes struggled to open, to look at her, when her scent hit them harder than the spell did. They made a noise somewhere deep in their throat as they tried to glare at the woman who only smirked in return. It only took a moment before the scent took hold and Proxy was limp, their eyes flickering shut with a soft groan. The woman’s head tilted like an owl as she looked Proxy over, like a chef studying a dish before serving it. After a moment she laced a hand through Proxy’s hair before grabbing a fistful and hauling them up. Proxy’s face contorted and they hissed in pain as they were pulled onto their knees.
“What’s the matter? No more sass…?” she hissed, annoyance betraying the glee in her voice. Proxy managed to lift an arm to grab the wrist yanking their hair only to have it ripped away and stuck behind them with a snarl.
“Wait-” They tried but their voice was cut short by fangs sinking into the side of their neck. They shivered, feeling a dense fog cover their mind that left a deep thrumming in their ears.
Then they felt the familiar rush. Was it the blood being pulled for their veins or was it the venom replacing it? Proxy wasn’t sure either way but they knew, regardless, the intoxication of it. They felt their body lose any will of resistance as their mana was sucked away with each pulse of blood spilling over their shirt. The damage was done. Their eyes rolled back and shut and Proxy let out a breathy sigh of defeat as their mind gave up what remaining will power it had left.
Proxy woke with a start to the feeling of long fangs buried in one of their forearms. Their head felt foggy and heavy and their breathing came in gasps as if they were out of breath. Bleary eyes opened, unable to focus. Their body felt stiff and they huffed a breath in effort to move. The attempt caused a sharp grip on their arm and they fell limp again. They turned their head towards the source and it occurred to them that the world around them was still a blurry mess despite their best attempts to see anything.
“I can't see,” They said hoarsely, and coughed. Their body jolted in pain as the fangs tore from their arm.
“I know,” a soft voice cooed. “You don't need to.” Proxy could hear their blood dripping from the womans mouth as she smiled. The woman traced a talon down Proxy’s neck where the first bite had been, causing them to turn their head away with a shivered gasp. “The venom seems to be working nicely,” the woman purred. “Like I said,” she continued, “Easy to play.”

So anyways with the rapid rise of fascism I feel it’s a good time to point out that it’s perfectly legal to follow unjust orders slowly, badly, or inefficiently

I'm trying my hand at writing with an OC...
Proxy busted out with a childlike laughter at the sentient plant creature below them as they were lofted into the air by one of the plant’s thicker vines.
“Excuse me?” the plant paused, maw agape. “Normally the people around here scream and beg at the realization of being eaten alive.”
Proxy laughed again. “Go ahead and eat me,” they shrugged. “I'm no better than the soil in your planter pot, Little Pod.” Proxy’s tone took an edge then. “I’ll kill you at your own game, absorb you from the inside out. So go ahead, try me.” they dared, and the plant knew there was no bluff to be had.
The plant, Two-y as he had become accustomed to being called, was smarter than the current apex species of this planet gave his kind credit for. Two-y wanted conquest. He wasn’t so stupid to call the bluff of a creature unbothered by that. This one was something… Other. It blended with the other humans well enough but as far as Two-y could tell, seemed to be outside humanity the same way he himself was.
Suddenly Proxy fell to the floor of the shop with a thud.Two-y had pulled all of his vines back around his base, the massive maw assumed the position of a normal plant pod. Proxy sat up, rubbing the spot of their head that cushioned the fall.
“Aww, what’s wrong Two-y?” Proxy cooed, sounding almost wounded for not having been eaten. They scooted closer to some of the plant’s exposed roots and gave them a reassuring pat.
“You make this no fun. And worse, I truly do hunger,” Two-y lamented.
Proxy grinned and stood then, dusting themself off. “I can help with that,” they chirped. “But let's get you cleaned up first.”

I'm not religious anymore, but my understanding continues to be that the New Testament is a fundamentally subversive and revolutionary text (as in, a text written from a pro-revolutionary perspective). The core lessons of the New Testament are about overthrowing the corrupt, disempowering the powerful, seizing your birthright - in this case a personal relationship with the divine - from those who gatekeep it and weild it in bad faith
I'm fascinated by people who treat the New Testament as anything but a revolutionary text. Either because they haven't read it, they haven't understood it, or because they've deliberately co-opted the language of it in order to divert attention from themselves - the corrupt, the powerful, the gatekeepers - towards more vulnerable people.
Anyway. Just in case you're one of the people who hasn't seen this Sinclair Lewis quote before
When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.
