Affects of toy gun on children and parents role? In my opinion, it has bad effects on children mental health due to various reason which are 1) its association with aggressive behavior, 2) danger of projectile or air gun, 3) potential confusion between toy gun and real gun. These are some of the main factors that can effects from various ways on children developmental effect.

Child also learn from their toys. For example, education toys help the children in good leaning but the toy gun is an aggressive toy because children become more aware with killing people when they are not even aware of the concept of death. She also added that children should play with those toys that did not harm others mentally or physically. Girls play with dolls which help them to understand relationships and interactions as do with pets like dogs or cat. Children should play games that are not aggressive but competitive which help them to grow in helpful and positive way.

Another factor is cultural because children don’t know what is right and what is wrong. But in some culture, for them use of a gun is heroic. In most of the TV shows, cartoons, power is associated with gun which unconsciously effect and change the thinking pattern in negative way. It’s also involve parents which some time (more in males) encourage the child to use it as a fun. And the child develop more interest in these type of games that work as a catalyst for encourage aggressive behavior.

Toy gun is associated with aggressive behavior. It is still unknown that aggressive behavior is totally whether genetic or learned. Many studies show that both factors effect on the behavior of the children. When a child play with these type of toys. They feel good while doing violence like killing the monsters in game or fight with other siblings or friends. Its act as a positive reinforcement in the child to play more violent games and take more interest through developmental stages which decrease the tolerance level of the child in the later age of development. Which make them vulnerable and they irritate easily and find solution through violent response to avoid the situation. Children don’t differentiate right or wrong himself and the stereotype of aggressive behavior use in normal for them.

The use of air or projectile gun is also bad because of the consequences. One of them is they can harm themselves or others from different ways like shot the other person eye or other body parts and damage them. In some extreme damage, the other person can lose his/her eye. The child can also shot the birds as a fun or for pleasure. The life of the birds and others are also in dangers.

Most studies shows that, there is more percentage of the children those who cannot differentiate between real gun and toy gun. A survey in which the pictures of the real and toy gun are shown to the children to recognize them, as real or fake but more children cannot differentiate them.

Effective violence prevention counseling requires an understanding of norms regarding parental attitudes, practices, and the factors that influence norms. And other techniques are role pay of the good boy and bad boy is effective to giving insight to the children. But in this, parents should set the limits for the children while doing play. Pretending role play has developmental values, helping children to make sense of the world. Some of the limits are:

Children shouldn’t hurt each other’s while pretending gun battles.

Should not Pointing or shoot at others faces and not shooting others members of the family or pets are important.

Make sure children should know difference between real gun and fake gun.

Parents should teach the children the causes of the use of real gun. Also teach them what to do when they encounters real guns.

Parents should give the toy gun with others toys to neutralize the effects of association with power or aggression. Parents cannot control what is outside of their home but they can improve inside environment of the home which develops the children personality. Little boys lookup to their fathers and try to imitate them subconsciously. Fathers can help them to socialize, take them out and play with them. Educational toys are important for learning positively. Some of the good learning games for children age between 1 and 2 years old include car push, walkers, themed toys, and themed books which help them grow positively.

The repetition of the book with pictures and sound like dog and cat often lead to associate them with the sound of that particular animal. This type of game teaches children to develop skills like recognition and literacy skills. There are also some games that a child should play to build healthy physical and cognitive development which includes tricycle, basketball, counting toys, racing etc. these type of game are beneficial for growth and development of the child.

Parents also should improve the surroundings of the children environment. Parents should teach their children about guns if the child shows interest toward them. Sometime child see his father cleansing the gun or rifle or hearing about the shooting. The parent should pychoeducation to the child about guns and preventions for their awareness.

These are the effects on children while playing games but some studies opposes them with results like child showed calmness in real life who play more gun game but also have insight about use and differentiate.
