How to find new media to consume!
My personal recommendations on how to keep on finding media to consume that is (relatively) easy! Keep in mind that this is for people who usually have time on their hands lol...
Music:
My #1 recommendation for if you're on Spotify is a Discover Weekly! This is probably your best to discover new music if you're lazy (like me). It's a curated playlist that finds new songs for you every week to listen to! I like listening to my Discover Weekly on commutes or whenever I'm bored and free to listen to music uninterrupted. If you don't have Spotify, there are alternate platforms like Discoverify, Discover on Demand, and Radiooooo.com :)
Listen to albums! There are plenty of people who just find songs from artists, and just only listen to the songs they already like! If you like an artist's song, it couldn't hurt to check out their discography. You'll also find that some albums tell a story, and I think it's really fun to interact with art that way.
Films/Shows:
Follow a few film accounts! I follow a few Instagram film accounts that post whenever a new film is out, and if I'm interested, I check it out! (I also follow video game accounts, but saying that in the video game section would be redundant).
If you have a watchlist you need to seriously start taking a dent out of, try putting them all in a wheel and choose something to watch randomly. Personally I find not having to choose more fun, because then it seems less daunting to start watching something. If you don't feel like watching shows specifically or movies specifically, just limit putting them in the wheel! If you're one of the people who would keep on spinning the wheel until you get something interesting, I see you, and you should probably stop (and maybe this tip isn't for you?) :p.
https://pickamovieforme.com/! This is a pretty useful website, because you can customize literally everything every time. Its just a few quick and easy questions, and then it picks a movie for you! Choose carefully for your genres though, because if you're kinda picky like me, you might end up with a movie you won't like.
Games:
Check out itch.io! itch.io has a bunch of new games to check out, and a lot of them are indie games. Itch.io is really helpful to me personally when I'm feeling quite bored. I actually have found a lot of visual novels and horror games to play there. I also look in new releases on Steam.
I also like using video game recommendation engines, but if you want to try something new, check out some gameplay videos on YouTube! That's how I find a lot of new games to play, especially multiplayer ones. Also try out really popular games if you're a pretentious loser who thinks you're better than that. I was there, the games are popular for a reason.
And those are my recommendations! These have worked for me since forever, and if you really are getting to be sick of whatever media you're consuming, take a break! Do something else, build knockoff Legos or whatever. Distance makes the heart grow fonder or whatever, soon you'll stop being sick of it and you can enjoy things again!

on Wicked (2024)
The 2024 movie musical Wicked directed by Jon Chu and starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande is a great movie but really needs to capitalize on the original charm of the Broadway musical. Specifically, the color grading of the movie-musical is kind of dull, and doesn't have the warm and playful tone that the musical has (at least for the first half). The coloring makes it feel like I'm watching a Keeping Up With the Kardashians or something similarly beige. The music was amazing - both of the starring actress's voices are unreal. I think my favorite song would be What Is This Feeling? (or Defying Gravity, of course). Overall this was a very good movie, and I would probably rate it an 8.6/10?
