(Nearly) Lost and Finally Found Chapter 5

His eyes opened tentatively, dim light flooding into his field of vision and slowly revealing what looked to be the inside of a private aircraft, the night sky twinkling behind oval windows on either side of the plane where he appeared to be the only passenger. He’d hoped that seeing where he was would help him understand more about what was going on, but he only felt more and more confused with every new piece of information. What the hell was going on? Where on Earth was he?

Honestly, Charles

Summary:

Keeping after Charles was a full-time job. For a man who could spend hours sitting at his desk, doing work, the second he should have been doing something like that was the time he decided there were so many other things that needed to be done. It had been a car wreck that had caused him to need the surgery, and other than that, they hadn’t discussed it much. The surgery had left him with stitches running over his midsection. It wouldn’t be so bad if Charles wasn’t always getting out of bed into his chair, from his chair to the couch, back to his chair, and into another. The entire time, Erik tried to talk him out of so many transfers and moving around so much. Of course, as stubborn as Charles was, it didn’t do much good and, instead, seemed to drive him to move around more. - Charles is hurt, Erik is protective.

Useless

Summary:

"Maybe there was no one to blame. Maybe it was both of their faults. Or no one was at fault. Maybe Erik shouldn’t be laying in bed at one in the morning thinking about how shitty everything had become, but he missed those days of love and a chest full of happiness, feeling like his heart was going to burst. Now it just constricted and filled him with nothing but longing and sadness. "

Summary:

“What was that?” Erik asked back, trying to replace the hurt with anger—something easier to feel, something more familiar. “What?” Charles asked, looking over at Erik, the confusion clear, not just in his voice but on his face too. "I thought we were dating but you-you were all over her,” Erik said, staring back at Charles, his face set, fighting back the emotions. The man was a genius but Erik was beginning to think that was a lie. “We're not dating..." Charles replied, his voice slow. It almost sounded like he was trying to explain something to a child. Or, maybe, trying to figure out how Erik would’ve come to that conclusion in the first place. Erik blinked, staring at Charles. He wasn’t sure how to respond to that. Of all the things Charles could’ve said, that was one that never entered Erik’s mind as a possibility. “Oh.” He finally said, rather dumbly. 

Baby Dom

Summary:

“Why is it always the old guys that hit on you?” Alex asked, leaning back in the booth to look around Darwin and see the man they were all talking about. “I mean he’s old, right? He looks forty.” “Charles only hits on old guys. That’s why he only gets hit on by them. Anytime someone younger than thirty-five looks at him Charles walks the other way,” Raven stated, looking at her brother who was just all too smug as he sat back down with them. - Working on his second Ph.D. Charles meets architect Erik at a bar and decides to take his chances.

Summary:

“Are you okay?” Best Erik could tell, he was fine. Maybe a few bruises on his shoulder and chest from the force of slamming into his seatbelt, but nothing other than that. He would survive. Charles was, as always, his main concern. “I…think so,” Charles replied slowly, as though he was checking himself over as he answered, “I think I’m okay,” He said again and Erik nodded.

Summary:

"It was weird, Erik thought, as he walked around the schoolyard. Charles wasn’t in the normal place waiting for him, as he sometimes is. So Erik had waited a few minutes, hoping he would show up. Then the bell rang and he had to abandon that idea. He made a quick lap of the grounds around the school, looking for the other boy, but was unable to find him, leaving him with no choice but to go on inside or else be late for class." Or The one where Charles and Erik are in high school and have been best friends for years. Unforeseen circumstances arise that could either bring them closer together or tear them apart.
