Kamen Rider Double: Episodes 3-4
So, as a Kamen Rider fan, I finished watching Kamen Rider Double and came across some expansion scenes I hadn’t expected, so figured it’d be a good way to start things back over here.
Kamen Rider Double is part of the Kamen Rider TV series and franchise, which started in 1971. Double is the 2009-2010 entry of the show, the eleventh season in the series’ Heisei Era (which KR designated as 2000 when it returned to TV) and the twentieth season overall. The season follows a pair of young men, Shoutaro an amateur detective trying to emulate the classic ‘hard-boiled noir’ type, and Philip, a mysterious amnesiac who has literally all information on Earth available in his head. Together, the two can merge together into the eponymous Kamen Rider Double, aiming to take down the organisation known as Museum, which bestow devices called GaiaMemories to people, acting like drugs which when inserted turn them into monsters referred to as Dopants.

One of the early Dopants fought is Taison Kaga, the Money Dopant, the head of the underground casino Million Calosseo, who sets up people to win at games before they spend all their winnings, and should they not find a way to pay him back, he transforms and uses a coin to drain them of their life energy, turning it into a life coin while the victim is in a coma. From there, he can store the life coin in his person. (Pic 1)

The heroes are made aware of him via two of his customers, a young woman wrapped up with snobbish avarice and an older man who’s wracked with poverty in his house and gets his life drained by the Dopant. It’s from this scene that we witness him bloating up, gaining a potbelly as he stores the life coin away, which helps to emphasise his greed and sadism. (Pics 2-5)

Kamen Rider Double goes after him, but a timely intervention from Money’s GaiaMemory supplier cuts the fused hero off from beating him down. (Pics 6-7)

Later on, he transforms and reveals he already has his swollen stomach, storing life coins in there already before draining the energy from the young woman. As he’s challenged by Double to a card game to win back the people he’s taken, the Money Dopant ejects them from him before turning back into human form, laughing as he does so with the clear confidence in victory. Fortunately, as one might assess, our heroes defeat him, destroying the GaiaMemory and ensuring he’s arrested by the police. (Pics 8-10)

Hi, would you ever consider doing posts on other DC stuff? Like the Lois Lane issue where she becomes fat or the Jimmy Olsen one? There's so many of those especially around the Superman cast, but I believe it's happened to characters like Wonder Woman as well. I love your insights towards the details in official weight gain media and would love to see you tackle some of them.
Hi there, I appreciate reaching out, funny enough I’ve had these other DC instances on my mind for some time, especially Lois’s one, so they are on the list of expansions to cover.

Scooby-Doo! Team-Up Issue 18
Now we move onto the currently most recent Mammoth Mutt, who bounced into the pages of Scooby-Doo! Team-Up. The book was published by DC Comics and featured the Scooby Gang - Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy and Scooby Doo himself - interacting with multiple characters from other Hanna-Barbera or DC properties. It was bi-monthly book, with the digital releases dividing each issue up into two, making the overall 50 in-prints into 100 digitals. So if you're aiming to look up this issue and others, keep in mind the numbers; #18 here is told across #35-36 in digital format.

In #18, Scooby teams up with Krypto, Ace the Bat-Hound, Wonder-Dog and Green Lantern G'Nort to travel to Sirius-9 to aid the SCPA, who we soon see in action against several feline foes. As we're introduced to the members, the fear-inducing Scaredy Cat has Tusky Husky cowering until Mammoth Mutt quite literally butts in and knocks the sinister kitty unconscious with such hefty humungous hindquarters. Psi-Ameese briefly disorients Mutt, but thankfully he's left wide open for Krypto to defeat. (Pic 1)
The SCPA suits are from the Silver Age, while Mutt's design is clearly harkoning back to Mammoth Miss due to the similar-looking breed and an inflated design bearing all limbs out providing easy mobility, while being significantly taller than everyone else. While this Mammoth Mutt is Miss-inspired, I'm assuming Mutt's male; despite seemingly having eyelashes in their second panel (which are only otherwise used for the female Yankee Poodle), these aren't present anywhere else in the story, plus Mutt's not referred in pronouns so that's all I can go on. So compared to the Krypto TV show, we've got a more balanced and faithful mix of the Mammoths - Mutt's name and gender with Miss's suit, breed and inflated looks.
One other thing of note - not once throughout this entire story do we see Mammoth Mutt deflated, so not only is there no exact scale of reference between being normal size or inflated, but it could easily be taken that there is no inflated size and that this is just Mutt's actual size. However, given the curve lines around Mutt when dropping in, we can infer that it's meant to represent inflating into this big spherical shape.

Mammoth Mutt and the fellow canine heroes enter the HQ, the Doghouse, revealing that the current members SCPA are just the latest iteration, inspired by the very first superheroes, the Canine Commandos, five members thought to be long-gone. The page also gives us a good size reference for Mutt alongside the rest, with Scooby going up to the arms. (Pic 2)

It very quickly turns out the Canine Commandos aren't just brought up for backstory - as Mammoth Mutt brings up, his body close to Krypto and Scooby, the supervillains weren't the reason why Scooby and co were summoned, as the Doghouse is apparently haunted. (Pic 3)

The group look out as the ghosts of the Canine Commandos materialise into the Doghouse, his body taking up a good third of the page's width and half it's length. (Pic 4)

Our heroes go head-to-head with the Commandos...except Mammoth Mutt, for some reason, who doesn't even appear in a full page view of everyone else (bar a scared Scooby) rushing towards the 'ghosts'. It could probably be down to pacing reasons, especially when the scene has more 'living' members than the CC, the panels having close tight views, and has to set up the confrontation, the Commandos being untouchable and getting the truth behind this in quick succession. (Pic 5)

It turns out the Canine Commandos aren't ghosts, but were trapped in another dimension for decades after an accident involving their enemy Dogaton in a war. Thankfully, G'Nort's power ring combined with the wilpower of the superheroic Earth-based dogs allows them to return home after so long, with the more anthro Yankee Poodle beside Mammoth Mutt and his large belly. (Pic 6)
Unfortunately, Dogaton was also freed as well and uses this opportunity to free the cats, leading to an exciting, busy action scene that once again doesn't feature or utilise Mammoth Mutt, which is even worse this time around since the single page spread here is a lot more open to show off the fights in play. One would assume a hero who's essentially a living bouncy ball would be useful, but apparently not. (Page 7)

Once the fighting is over and done with, the Canine Commandos aren't too sure about their place in the world seeing as they've been gone for 70 years, but Mammoth Mutt reassures them, specifically Yankee Poodle right in front of him, that the living legends will always have a place in the SCPA. (Pic 8)
This has been the most recent incarnation of the colossal corpulent canine, and it's a bit surprising to see just how little Mammoth Mutt actually does outside of his introduction; even the other SCPA members not fighting were at least seen during it. Still, it's a fun cute return to the character's roots, distilling Mutt and Miss into a simple streamlined representation in across a story that's overstuffed (much like his physique) with fellow dog heroes.

DC Super-Pets: Attack of the Invisible Cats
DC Super-Pets is a kids book series featuring Krypto and other animal characters in the DC Universe, including the Dog Star Patrol, but with designs altered to reflect the simpler softer design.
In 'Attack of the Invisible Cats', Mammoth Mutt inflates, revealing that her fur sheds when she does so, allowing the three titular cats to be seen and handled. Her size from as she grows and covers the felines has her in a rough round form, her legs sticking out with the paws almost near the body. (Pic 1)
The illustration of her covering the fur hitting the cats has her body larger and the limbs sunken in to the point the paws are the only visible sign of them now. (Pic 2)
As Krypto makes a joke on Mutt's shedding, she's now even larger, taking up the majority of the page as she receives a treat for her part in saving the day, floating upside down with her cape (not present elsewhere in the inflated illustrations) defying gravity as well.. (Pic 3)
And with that, unless there's anything else I'm missing, is all of the Krypto the Superdog show's version of Mammoth Mutt! It's been a very long covering of her but worth it in seeing how varied and, in a word, animated her power's utilised. With so many scenes and scenarios, it's a great expansive time!

Krypto the Superdog: Issue #6

In the finale issue of the 'Krypto the Superdog' spin-off comic, the Dog Star Patrol set up decorations for Fun Day, an intergalactic mailman version of Christmas, with Mammoth Mutt using her inflation pwers to float upwards as part of preparations, appearing larger than her previous instances inthe comic. (Pic 1)

The gang's archenemy Mechanikat arranges for the mailman to be captured, leading the heroes to intervene and confront the villain. Mammoth Mutt grows here, floating in midair, but the shape isn't wholly round throughout the page, it's noticeable on the back nearing the head, slanting a bit in the last two panels, and the size is at its largest in the first panel. (Pic 2)

The fight takes to Mechanikat's robot minions, leading to the DSP defeating them via their abilities, Mutt roll her way through three of the large bots, looking smaller than in Pic 2, whih can be taken as making it easier to roll and carry speed along. (Pic 3)

The encounter ends with the nefarious cats surrounded by the group, with Mammoth Mutt inflated in midair again for another intimdating presence in her puffed up bulk. (Pic 4)

Krypto the Superdog: Issue #4

Krypto and the DSP take on Snooky and the femme feline fatale Isis, both of whom have been exposed to Orange Kryptonite, granting them increased super strength. The surprise of their abilities throws Krypto and co off guard...and around! Mammoth Mutt inflates to a modestly big size, probably a fair bit larger than Tusky Husky and Brainy Barker. She, Barker, Husky and Terrier take on Snooky, only for Snooky to easily overpower the four; Mutt winds up getting hit by Tail Terrier on the side, the collision hurting her as her side and belly deflate from Terrier's presence. Two panels later, she's back to normal size again.

Krypto the Superdog: Issue #2
The Krypto the Superdog show had a comic book adaptation, which lasted 6 issues, each one telling two stories.

The Dog Star Patrol is introduced in the book in its second issue, providing readers with a rundown of the DSP's names and powers. Mammoth Mutt's power is described as 'ability to change size, weight'. (Pic 1)

Ignatius, Lex Luthor's pet igauna, steals Luthor's new SOL-1 rocket, and comes into conflict with Krypto and the DSP, with Mammoth Mutt handling some of the missiles launched by inflating her body, taking on at least two missiles, judging by the impact of one hitting her belly and an upcoming one nearing her way. Neither of these harm her, demonstrating her bod and spacesuit's strength. (Pic 2)

Krypto the Superdog: Season 2 Episode 11b
Here we are, the final Krypto the Superdog show's final appearance of Mammoth Mutt, and the final instance of the tiny chihuahua inflating into the gargantuan pink sphere she becomes gracefully and pragmatically. 'Invasion of the Peanut People' has the Dog Star Patrol go after a gang of intergalactic peanut thieves, culminating in the heroes tracking them down to their giant peanut-shaped spaceship containing their entire nutty stash.

The DSP go up against members of the elephant gang, with Mammoth Mutt initiating her inflation, front and back puffing up into a rounder shape, the back gaining more prominence as it bulges upwards, her front legs spreading further apart in equal width to her back legs which stick to the ground until her head starts to rise upwards. We can see the leg on her left side be absorbed into her ballooning bulk and the formation of fat surrounding it and the rest of her limbs; it's a subtle touch that I appreciate. The curve of her chest shifts upwards into, essentially, the chest area of the body before subsequently vanishing into the smooth fat rounding out. Meanwhile, the folds surrounding her head are present, but as she grows big, the folds wind up appearing to draw closer to her neck, to the point they look like a thin neck straining against the collar. Given the back-heavy formation, Mammoth Mutt winds up getting a mid-inflation look that brings to mind an exagerrated hunchback appearance.
Right before she inflates, Mammoth Mutt cheekily asks, "Why don't you pick on someone your own size...?"
(Pic 1)

The rest of the inflation process isn't seen, at least not in the usual fashion, as we have her shadow and the elephant staring at her in rapidly-ascending horror to realise that she easily outsizes him. Her shadow displays her head just barely noticeable with the ears sticking out and the lumpy shape of the body. (Pic 2)

Now we see Mutt's end result size, the elephant's head just about reaching the halfway point of her body. The legs stick out so far away while she rest of her groin, the tan underside of her belly staring the enemy in the face, her entire form clearly outclassing anything he can do. In this enormous ball of a body, her fold-nestled head staring down at him she completes her boast...
"...Like me?"
And with that, Mammoth Mutt pulls back her body, arching forwards as the belly gets sucked in with two lines folding across the midsection, bracing her body before she unleashes her move, a powerful belly bash that slings the held-back fat into the elephant, further distorting this fattened figure into a what would resemble a chunk C-shaped look. The elephant is sent flying from this aggressive gut-punch, and Mutt's body starts to get back into its smooth round shape before the shot cuts away to the elephant, leaving our final Mammoth Mutt look with her in this near-complete doughy form.
(Pic 3)
And so, finally, I've covered all Mammoth Mutt inflation scenes from the Krypto TV show. There are a couple of scenes from the Krypto comic and books I'll cover, but they'll be shorter posts. After that, I'll tackle the Mammoth Mutt from the Scooby-Doo Team-Up comic.

Note
To be honest, considering both Violets were both IRL minors I dunno if its a good idea to cover them. But that's just my opinion.
Yup, that's pretty much the major reason why I've not really wanted to cover them on here after all this time. While the scenes are great, it's just too risky to even attempt it.

Krypto the Superdog: Season 2 Episode 7 Part 3

Krypto asks the Dog Stars if they can move the ship close to him while he's out on his mission, with Mammoth Mutt's voice in its deep huskier tone. While Tail Terrier and Paw Pooch easily walk their way over to the control system, Mammoth Mutt is slightly surprised by them heading off, so she proceeds to hop along to catch up, each short bounce accompanied with a fitting sound effect. (Pic 1)

Making their way to ship's main controls, they try and get the ship moving...only they have absolutely no idea how. Mutt's size is generally conistent with the previous shots, though the position of her head appears higher up in the front view compared to the back, with the initial back view making her look somewhat squat. There are more rolls in her close up where she tells Tail Terrier to press anything, and her voice from here to the rest of this scene is normal rather than deep. There's an error made when Tail Terrier asks how they get the ship to move - Mutt's eyes are green, but when she turns her head to face Terrier, they've become black for a short moment. After her close up, we then get a shot of her facing the others, the collar visibly sticking out as she glares, not a roll in sight to boot, but her eye there is once again black. (Pic 2)

Tail Terrier's handling results in the ship shooting forwards, leading to the heroes gripping onto the console in the same shot as Pic 2, and a shot of Mutt closer than that in Pic 2 to show the intensity of the moment, yelling to pick something else. The second pick winds up making the ship spiral and throwing everyone to the walls. While Tail Terrier and Paw Pooch are fine, Mammoth Mutt's inflated round state helps cushion the potential force of the impact, but comes at the unfortunate cost of the air being expelled from her backside the second she slams into the wall, leaving her looking as flat as a pancake, her head, legs and tail all in view. Embarrassed by this, she meekly excuses herself. This fun moment is also the only time Mutt's deflated entirely against her will, not to mention the only instance she's made flat in any way. (Pic 3)

Krypto the Superdog:Season 2 Episode 7a Part 2

While Krypto goes out to gather resources, the trio set about repairing the ship, with Mammoth Mutt prioritising herself with smoothing out bumps across the floor. It's done slowly yet forcefully, the rolls around her head helping to cushion it as she moves forward, making her sink into herself, showing off the sense of softness and fatness in this state. Paw Pooch realise he's in her path, and just about manages to get out of the way before she strides along in a slow but heavy motion like a bowling ball. (Pic 1)

Later, they get into an argument trying to decide where to put the ship's navigator system, all tugging it in various directions. This is the second and final rare case of MM's inflation abilities used to inflate another body part, once again her hand, as she grips it with a hand just larger than her torso even with the fist made, made more evident in the close up of her. A neat detail in the wide shot is that her arm stretches out in an elastic quality, so it's not just a case of getting bigger, but longer too. However, the fighting over the device from pulling it in different direction leads to it breaking apart. (Pic 2)

After this, Krypto sends out a call to the Dog Stars, which they answer. Mammoth Mutt's squashed between her allies, so she inflates herself to get some sufficient space, the bounce sound used as she pushed the pair off of her. In the quick motion, there's an inbetween stage with her front legs starting to get sucked in the tanned front, the collar sinking into the gaining rolls and the back left leg rising up. Once she's done, she's blown up to around four times her width and twice her height, the left leg not seen now, while the right is perfectly visible, her ballooned bulk having sent Paw Pooch and Tail Terrier back to the sides of the screen. You should do violet beauregarde next after mammoth mutt
If I ever wanted to cover it, that would be something that'd require a lot of time and dedication covering a lot of details both little and large if I aim to cover every iteration in one long stream, most especially think of the 2005 film version. Seriously, it's one of those scenes where you find more details on rewatches over the years, I think that would take the most time covering. It'd probably be broken down one at a time with some gaps inbetween, if anything.

just wondering how long does it take you to make a post including images?
Hi, that's a good question. It all comes down to a few factors: 1) Whether the scene I'm posting is the whole scene or part of it. I'd have to figure out how I'm going to divide it all up 2) The number of shots I aim to cover and how many I can put them together for one picture 3) If there's a little or a lot to go over in the scene 4) If I've got the privacy to go over the images How long this might take can vary, it could take a couple of hours if I'm juggling other things and/or sorting out pictures for the following posts.

gotta say, one of my fav write ups of yours is of Yakon from Dbz
Thank you, I'm glad you like it, it was a fun case of seeing just much more the anime could really expand on the manga's material, so to speak!

have you ever thought of revisiting some of your older write ups of expansion scenes. Fleshing them out some more now that you have more experience?
Hi, that's a good question. I've never really thought about that, so I appreciate the suggestion. It's one I'll have to think about especially when looking back at my earlier material.

Krypto the Superdog: Season 2 Episode 7a Part 1

'Too Many Cooks' give us the most screentime of Mammoth Mutt's expansive abilities. It starts off with Hot Dog and Paw Pooch falling onto her, leaving her body as flat on the floor as possible. Annoyed at this, she asks, "Do you mind?" before inflating her way off them, from one motion to another. The inflation is very quick and naturally very forceful, as Mutt lifts herself up which would probably help give her ballooning body a little extra 'push'. As she grows taller, the shot follows her, leading to her feet being offscreen as we focus on the top half of her body. (Pic 1)

She, Tail Terrier and Paw Pooch wind up getting into a three-way battle for control of Dog Star HQ when Brainy Barker's incapacitated, each offering their own reasons why they'd be the leader. Mutt vouches for herself with, "I'm the biggest and brainiest, if you aks me," her inflation conducted offscreen as a concerned Krypto looks on, her body twice as tall as Tail Terrier and three times his length in its firmly taut ball shaped frame, collar buried in the first roll surrounding her head. (Pic 2)

As Paw Pooch gives him reason on why he should be in charge, on account of his mulltiple pairs of arms, Mammoth Mutt looks in a good view of her front, with a more fat lines on the side and the top. (Pic 3)

Krypto chimes in, the shot presenting all four heroes togehter in a way that shows off the back view of Mutt herself, no head to be seen, just a total round ball. (Pic 4)

The trio respond by glaring as Krypto and yelling at him to go ahead, the folds around Mutt's head shifting with her head as she looks from to Krpyto. Her body noticeable sways as well, given her belly grows closer to the floor between the first and last frames. (Pic 5)

Andso Krypto leaves them be, his exiting accompanied by Mammoth Mutt taking up the right half of the screen as she looks on annoyed, presented as the great curve of a ball with her head in the middle and a fold of fat connecting it to her frame. (Pic 6)

Mammoth Mutt's position as she decides to deflate has her proportions off by way of her legs, as they're palced on her side rather than further back. The left leg's a little bit obscured by Tail Terrier, but the right leg is cearly seen raised higher to the point it's nearly on pair with where the tail is. The sequence of her deflating has an unique way of going about it, as once she jumps up and gets her front legs next to each other, the back end rushes towards the front, essentially getting sucked up while her front legs stay in position as the body loses the solid spherical stature and bends into a lumpier look before vanishing with no smaller frames leading to her normal state. However, this also inflates, as it were, the glaring issue with the hind legs being raised so far up and away from where they would naturally be; even with all the movement, the left leg is obscured at times while the right always atches your eye. (Pic 7)

Here’s a little diversion to break things up from Mammoth Mutt for a while.
‘Trigun’ is a Japanese sci-fi western manga series by Yasuhiro Nightow, initially published as ‘Trigun’ in Shonen Captain for 20 chapters before the magazine was cancelled, at which point the manga continued in Young King OURs under ‘Trigun Maximum’ for 97 chapters. It’s been adapted into a 90s manga (made before Maximum thus it had its own original and very different ending) and a more recent anime Trigun Stampede in 2023.
The story is set on the desert planet No Man’s Land (or Gunsmoke in the 90s anime) 150 years after an event that causes an Earth colony ship to land, with the descendants trying to make a desperate living while utilising mysterious beings known as Plants. The protagonist is Vash the Stampede, a goofy, kind and pacifistic gunslinger with an incredibly high bounty on his head, wandering the world with insurance agents Meryl and Milly and mysterious priest Nicholas D. Wolfwood while getting into adventures and eventually being forced to battle his heartless brother Millions Knives, the instigator of the ship crash.
Eventually, Nicholas dies during a confrontation between his evil mentor Master C and his childhood friend Livio the Double Fang (also known as by another personality, Trip of Death). In Chapter 65, Vash, trying to express himself as he mourns Nicholas, serves up food for him and Livio to eat to regain their strength for the upcoming fight against an ever-strengthening Knives. (Pics 1-2)
The pair go through bowls and plates of fried rice, spaghetti and vegetables, Vash cooking them up while Livio eats what’s there ravenously. The eating itself is played lightheartedly, the simplistic comedic panel of them starting on the spaghetti harkening back to how Vash and Nicholas once ate together. (Pics 3-4) While Vash bears a composed focused look in his eyes, owing to what will come ahead and internalising the loss of Nicholas, Livio is more expressive as he sheds tears on account of his part in the fight that took away his childhood friend. No words are said nor have to be said as the men think back to the man who meant so much to them. (Pics 3-5)
As night makes its way into morning, we see the pair finally finished with their extensive eating, many more empty plates and bowls spread between them. Vash and Livio now bear great swollen bellies. Vash’s stomach is presented in its width in a centre view, his signature jacket unbutton to give it room as a hand rests atop it, while the lower half abdomen is obscured by the table. The black shirt he wears isn’t able to stretch out far enough to keep up with covering the stomach, though we don’t get much flesh to be seen thanks to the table in the way. Livio’s belly is nearly as prominent, being pushed to the side of the panel and table, the muscles given way to fatness, and with his case we can roughly see the whole of the abdomen and the weight presented on the sides. The pair are left sweating from the pressure of their overeating, forced to admit that they’ve overdone it. (Pic 6)
