The city of Detroit wanted to separate itself from the governments brand of news, MACUSAs newspaper; The New York Ghost. Taken from the city’s known Mythological and Legendary demon, they chose the Nain Rouge, or a red dwarf as the mascot. And to expand the competition, the company created a Quidditch team; The Detroit Rogues.

The Detroit Rogues is the second Quidditch team in Detroit. Officially it’s the team that was created by the city’s newspaper The Detroit Lutin as way of competing against other newspapers. The Rogues has a unique set of broomsticks that differs from the known Starsweeper; known as the Airshift (sometimes the Gearshift or Aeroshift), the broom has an aesthetic that reflects the city in a imaginative way of steampunk using a different kind of enchanted technology. The Airshift also is what gave their famous move, The Freefall, a move by seekers where he or she goes all the way up and at one point, loses all control of the broom and falls towards the Golden Snitch. The team Name was chosen to reflect the papers mascot and the city’s existing demon, Nain Rouge. The name was chosen to reflect the confusion spelling. images might be subject of copyright.

The Woodward Wendigos is a long running Quidditch team residing in the city of Detroit, which was around since the 1920s. It started out as an all African-American team before expanding into a mix-race group of players by the 1990s. In wanting to represent Detroit, the team leader adopted the Latin Moto of Detroit Speramus Meliora Resurget Cineribus, we hope for better things. It will rise from ashes. 1/2 Quidditch teams of Detroit

We both believe you, by the way. […] Thanks. It seems you’re about the only ones that do. I don’t think that’s true. But I suppose that’s how he wants you to feel.

Ilvermorny Robes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I read the article/essay/short story, History of Magic in North America by J.K. Rowling at Pottermore, I immediately thought of the films version of the robes in Harry Potter films 3-6/7 but red and blue. The vision is that everyone is wearing the robe with blue on the outside and red in the inside. Afterwards, I went against the idea and made a fuss about it when others did there own and...I was like “I’ll make one to.” It’s based on the colonial jackets. It’s a trade coat/frock coat. In fact, I think that is what the students were wearing in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Of course they would be longer then those pics, and what is worn underneath would change over time to blend into the No-Maj society.
