like i well and truly don't understand how ppl read that chapter and come away thinking that afo didn't experience significant trauma that shaped him into the man he is today like. trauma doesn't automatically mean redeemable or misunderstood i don't know why people think a character has to be ontologically evil to be irredeemable

ftr i'm of the opinion that insisting that this chapter proves afo was "born evil" not only goes against a core theme of bnha's narrative but also strips him of the autonomy of his villainy

hfjdkd yeah i mean that's probably the bulk of it tho tbf i don't know if the person whose post inspired mine was a shipper so much as a bakugou stan who just doesn't care for deku. regardless it's an idea that never had any basis and so it's funny to see so many people screaming crying throwing up about it, saying how hori ruined his character, it's so ooc etc.

where did ppl even get the idea that bakugou hated deku calling him kacchan in the first place like i've always been under the impression that he didn't mind it because otherwise he would've, y'know, told deku to stop at some point?

there's a meta i had in my head for years that i wish i had gotten around to writing because it got very explicitly validated by afo's reaction to bakugou and comparing him to the 2nd

i understand that in this case the point was that bakugou's own hard work is ultimately what saved his life and kept edgeshot from having to sacrifice his own and i can accept it on that basis even if i personally think it's a little cheap after it was presented in story as a life for a life but i hope they don't have toga somehow manage to survive too like. i love her with all my heart she's one of my favorite characters but i think her death was fittingly bittersweet. she died living and loving the way that she wanted and i don't want that to get taken away
