Aokara Chicken Ramen
Tumblr media
There was a culinary event in Bandung that offered free food for the visitors.  I wanted to go there since the event was held close to my office. But it was super crowded. I could even see the crowd from the office yard. So I went to ramen shop that located across from the office instead. The shop name is SAI Ramen. It offers Kyoto style ramen which have rich chicken broth. I often eat there because I like the place and it’s also halal certified. I usually order Chicken Ramen Original Special. But this time I ordered Aokara Chicken Ramen. The noodle was served with chicken broth, chicken chashu, corn, dried seaweed, wood ear mushrooms, spring onion, and half boiled egg. The broth’s color was slightly green and it was spicy. I thought the spiciness and the green hint came from a particular chili that was added into the broth. I didn't know what kind of chili they used, but later I found out on their Instagram that they used ao togarashi for this menu. I like this menu but I prefer the original one, since I couldn't finish all the broth because of it's spiciness.

I made birthday card for my friend. For the card, I used concord paper, washi tapes, stickers, and patterned paper, and put them randomly. It turned out pretty good though. I made the envelope from wrapping paper and sticky notes with flower pattern. I hope my friend will like it.

#Hello Again
Wow it’s been 5 years since my last post here. I intended to post the photos I took and practicing english here. But I no longer like taking photos like before, and writing in english is quite challenging for me since I don’t use it on daily basis. Or maybe I was just too lazy...haha...
I miss writing blog a lot so I decide to start writing again. Maybe I’ll just post anything I want in whatever language I can :)

Bebek Sinjay
Tumblr media
Fried duck is a popular food in Surabaya and Madura, East Java. There are so many restaurants and food stalls that offer fried duck in both areas. Bebek Sinjay (Sinjay Fried Duck) is one of the most popular fried duck in Surabaya and Madura. The restaurant was opened first in Bangkalan, Madura Island, and then it has several branches in Surabaya.
I went to Surabaya for work with my colleagues last year, and we visited Madura Island via Suramadu Bridge in our spare time. My colleague suggested to eat Bebek Sinjay in Bangkalan, because it’s very popular. The place was really simple but there were so many customers waiting to get their order. After eating this fried duck, I could understand why so many people coming here.
Bebek Sinjay now has its branch in Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Bandung. I often visit this place to eat with my family. The fried duck was served with steamed rice, sliced cucumber, and sambal pencit. Sambal pencit is the sauce that was made from raw mango and chili, and the taste was spicy but refreshing. The fried duck was really delicious, the meat was tender and savory. But of course, eating Bebek Sinjay in Bandung feels different from eating at it’s original place in Bangkalan :)

Beef and Cheese Ramyeon
Tumblr media
I went to Chingu Korean Fan Cafe with my friend. The cafe is located at Jalan Sawunggaling Bandung. We knew from it’s name that the cafe served Korean food. At that time, most of the customers were teenagers and young girls. I felt so old LOL. The cafe offers various Korean food such as ramyeon, tteokpokki, kimchi soup, bibimbap, hotteok, kimbap, dumpling, etc. Even they have some drinks that were named after Korean girl group and boy group in the menu. I decided to order Beef and Cheese Ramyeon. The ramyeon was served in a pot, like what I saw in Korean dramas. I think it was instant ramyeon. The noodle was served with half boiled egg, minced beef, carrot, bean sprouts, and grated cheese. I’m not a fan of Korean food but I like this menu, it was delicious and the price was affordable.

Nasi Krawu
Tumblr media
I went to Gresik, East Java with my friend for work. We had a flight from Bandung to Surabaya, then rent a car from Surabaya to Gresik. After the job was completed, we asked the driver what we should eat at Gresik. The driver recommended Nasi Krawu (Krawu Rice), which is the typical food from Gresik. The steamed rice was served with shredded beef, serundeng (grated coconut cooked with spices), chili paste (sambal), and soup. The meat was tender and sweet, the soup was refreshing, the serundeng and spicy sambal make this menu rich in flavors.

Sate Laler
Tumblr media
I visited Surabaya for work several months ago and stayed at a hotel in Manyar area. I found this dish near the hotel. The dish named “Sate Laler”. Laler means flies in English. The satay was made from chicken meat diced into small pieces, so it reminds us of the insect. A serving consists of 25 skewers. That’s not too much because the skewers are very small. Sate Laler is served with peanut sauce, chopped onion, chili sauce, and lontong.

Homemade Chicken Curry Rice
Tumblr media
I always wanted to try Japanese Curry Rice that I’ve seen in Japanese anime and dramas. It looks delicious and easy to make. But I didn’t know where to find curry roux blocks. Then I found this video on Youtube. It shows how to make Japanese Chicken Curry Rice, and the roux was made from scratch. The ingredients are easy to find, and the recipe is easy to follow. I made it at home based on the recipe. I like the taste and my sister said it was delicious. But I think I added too much curry powder so it became too spicy...hahaha... I still like it though, and there was no leftover. Yeah!!

Nasi Goreng Mozzarella
Tumblr media
Mozzarella is really popular these days. There are so many foods added mozzarella to enhance the taste. I tried Nasi Goreng Mozzarella (Mozzarella Fried Rice) at Greenteaholic Bandung. The cafe is located at Jalan Ternate Bandung. Although the name of this cafe is Greenteaholic, there are only several menus that use green tea. Mozzarella and fried rice is a nice combination. It tastes good, but the fried rice was too oily. I went there another time and ordered another menu named Seblak Goreng Samyang, which is the combination of Seblak (Sundanese traditional food) and Samyang from Korea. And I like this menu better than the Mozzarella Fried Rice :)

Infused Ocha
Tumblr media
I saw this drink on Instagram. I think this drink was inspired by infused water, but the water was replaced by green tea. I bought this infused ocha at Dukomsel Bandung. It has 4 variants : Detox, Fat Burning, Healing, and Immune Boost. I choose Detox which contains green tea, sunkist orange, basil seed, mint leave, and honey. This drink tastes refreshing and sweet. You can find more about this product on Instagram @iamochabdg

Sate Taichan
Tumblr media
Sate Taichan is getting popular recently. It’s different from usual satay that served with sweet soy sauce or peanut sauce. Sate Taichan is made from diced chicken meat, marinated with simple seasoning, then skewered and grilled. Sate Taichan is served with chili sauce and sliced lemon. We can also eat it with rice or lontong (compressed rice steamed inside a banana leaf).
I tried Sate Taichan at Jalan Aria Jipang, Bandung. A serving contains 10 skewers with the price of IDR 25.000. We have to pay an extra if we want to eat it with rice or lontong. It was spicy because I eat it with the chili sauce.  It was a nice combination though. A must try for spicy food lovers.
