I wasn’t tagged by anyone for this, but I’ve loved seeing them on my dash (it’s a great insight into the person behind the blog!) and it looks like fun! So, here we go...

Classes were cancelled for the day due to the snow. For someone who had never seen it before he’d come here, I was already bored of it - heck, most of the dorm was outside enjoying themselves, while I was inside watching the weather updates.

Heavy snowfall for the next three days. What fun.

“I couldn’t sleep.”

“Me either,” She mused. “Oh well, at least it gives me more time to work on my sketch before classes start.”

I peered over her shoulder to take a look. “That looks great.”

“Drawing is the one thing I’m good at. It’s something I got from my Mum - I’m just not as good as she was...” Amelia suddenly looked up and smiled. “But I’ll get there.”

It was hard to hide my disappointment the next morning, when I woke up to the sounds of a busy dorm. I’d barely walked out of my room when I spotted Amelia sat in the hallway, her sketchpad resting on her lap. “Do you always sit here?” I asked.

“Yep, it’s good for my inner muse.” She answered, only briefly glancing over her shoulder at me. “You’re up early.”

I went to bed that night with hopes of waking up at home.

She led me up to the first floor and into a room tucked away in the back corner; inside was one double bed, an empty desk and a small cupboard.

“I hope this is okay for you?”

I shrugged. “It’s perfect. I won’t be here too long, anyway.”

“You won’t?”

“I’m due to go home any day now. Suppose you could say I’m not cut out for this whole college thing...”

I could have sworn she looked almost disappointed by my answer. “Well, that’s a shame.”

When we arrived, I recognised the building instantly - I’d passed by it dozens of times on my way to classes. 

“This is great, Amelia. Thank you.”

“Don’t mention it. C’mon, let me show you the room.”

Amelia stood up. “If you’re short on a place to stay, there’s space in my dorm. Some guy dropped out last week and it’s been empty ever since.”

“Oh, um...I couldn’t poss-”

“I really don’t think staying out here tonight is a good idea, it’s meant to go below freezing! You’re too cute to die a popsicle.”

“I’m Amelia, by the way.”

“I’m Felix...”

Once she’d finished, Amelia smiled faintly and looked around, her eyes narrowing on my tent behind us. “Are you camping out here? You’re going to freeze!”

“I’ll be fine.”

I was halfway through my hot dog when company joined me.

“Hi,” She smiled. “Those smell great! Can I?”

I barely had a chance to open my mouth before she helped herself. “I thought I was the only weirdo that liked coming to the beach in this weather.”

Time to use the skills I’d gained from my family and camp out under the stars - I’d already been here three weeks, Toc wouldn’t keep me here too much longer.

Maybe it was a good thing I was going home alone, after all. The curse could die with me.

Even covered in snow, the small beach reminded me of our island. The sound of the gentle waves only made the ache in my heart grow - I missed my Mum, Dad and Kai. I missed our creaky house and the crystal clear waters.

I was done with adventuring and DONE with every person I’d met here.

With nothing else to do but wait for Toc to call me, there was only one place I could think to go - the only spot around here that reminded me of home.

There was nothing left to say as I watched her walk away - and deep in my heart I knew that it was the last time I’d see her.
