lotr is a lot for me cos it’s really just this little guy who lost so much as a child taking it upon himself to risk it all for the sake of everyone else. like do you ever stop and just think about the absolute selflessness and sacrifice and love of it all

"My father wouldn't send you," Arya said. She snatched up her stick sword. The Lannisters laughed.
"Put down the stick, girl," Ser Meryn told her. "I am a Sworn Brother of the Kingsguard, the White Swords."
"So was the Kingslayer when he killed the old king," Arya said. "I don't have to go with you if I don't want." (Arya, AGOT)
arya really just cut that white cloak to shreds with one line lol the kingsguard arent worth shit. if they can't even be relied upon to uphold their sworn oath to defend their own king why uphold their other oaths of knighthood to defend the weak, the innocents, women, children, ect? they won't and they don't. they aren't there to help arya. they are literally there to arrest her. and if they had captured her they wouldve harmed her.
when they first arrived arya almost falls for the kingsguard's illusion of authority as they claim to be there on her father's behalf, but syrio holds her back. this gives arya the chance to remember that they are no allies of hers. they are not her fathers men. they are not even guaranteed to be the king's men - whoever the king may be (arya's not even aware of it yet but thats joffrey, in this scene, and he is no friend of hers) at their core the kingsguard are hired thugs and arya cannot trust them.

The reason Annabeth, Percy and Grover doesn't suspect Luke is so simple.
It's because he is the one person they wouldn't suspect. The one. He is all of theirs blind spot.
It's Luke, Annabeth's family. It's Luke who was part of the first demigods Grover had to protect and probably one of his closest friends before Percy,it's Luke,Percy's first friend at camp. The one who was kind when he thought he lost his mother.
They can't even fathom the idea not because they are dumb but because he is in perfect position to be the traitor to them specifically.
