sometimes in fanfiction, making an OC and giving them a different character's backstory but with a twist feels like the most unoriginal thing ever.
but other times... there's a trauma that's just so common that that's the most sensible thing to do. Make your character relatable TO THE OTHER CHARACTERS. Explore a theme, maybe. Show how one catastrophe affected lots of people. Bring people together with it. Bring cohesion to the world.

god said let’s make a girl who will be heart achingly lonely in her bones and always feel like a stranger in this world who doesn’t belong in any room she’s in and always has one foot out the door

you know what Christians should be able to say?
your life is good.
your life is good even if you go to hell.
if you have ever been alive, you have experienced more good than can ever be undone by circumstance or sin. and I am glad that you were able to have it.
if you, Christian, believe in eternal suffering, I cannot comprehend how you can actually say it. a century of good, of life, no matter how good, will eventually be lost amidst the sea of eternity.
annihilation is the humane option.
I wish my unbelieving friends and family would come to Christ, be washed free, and get INFINITELY MORE good than otherwise, but the good of having been alive is good enough.
the good of being alive is good enough for God to have given it to them despite the pains.
because life is inherently good, otherwise He would not have made it or given it or bestowed it.
If you are an unbeliever, I respect that. I'm glad you're alive. I'm glad you're in my life. I'm glad you exist. I'm glad you get to experience this wonderful, awesome, delightful world.
And I wish as much happiness as possible for you in this life.

y’all know I always try to give people room to shit on Christianity, but I swear, this website really doesn’t know that Christians are not always inherently the oppressor and communities of them exist in actual daily danger. Like y’all realize this ain’t all Catholic imperialism and American christo-nationalism , right?

"Preoccupation with television prevents active inner creativity— children and adults merely sit and watch the pseudo-world of the screen instead of confronting their own difficulties. If there is a conflict with parents who have no time for their youngsters, the children surrender all the more willingly to the screen. The screen talks to them, plays with them, takes them into a world of magic fantasies. For them, television takes the place of a grownup and is forever patient. This the child translates into love."

This REALLY doesn't hit as hard without Canach's voice actor's PHENOMENAL performance, but I really prefer his version of #1 here.
Tumblr media
but to be honest a solid half of these Shakespearean ones I would also not be surprised to hear out of Canach's mouth. particularly 8 and 9

I agree, no loving God would do that. No just God would do that. No merciful God would.
I think our God is a God of love. He delights in life. If life is only - or most of the time, or even in a 50/50 cointoss - to end in eternal suffering, the bad far outweighs the good. I do not think God is trying to eke out every miserable scrap of goodness out of this earth and this life, such that he will tolerate an eternity of evil and torment afterward.
That is not who he is.
We all know John 3:16, but what sticks out to me is the very end: "that whosoever believeth on him should NOT PERISH, but have ETERNAL LIFE."
This means that those who DON'T believe... DON'T get eternal life. they DO perish.
The atheists are right. There IS oblivion after death. How long after, I'm not sure: hell does still exist and there is still a period of torment. But certainly, certifiably, according to the solid text of Scripture and a common-sense reading of "perish" and "eternal life," there is no such thing as eternal torment.
What sinners go through after death is still terrible and I would prefer as many people as possible to avoid that fate, but it IS a fate that I can respect people for choosing over serving God.
And maybe that's what makes the difference between me and your average "pushy" Christian: I am capable of respecting a sinner's choice to stay a sinner. I am not tormented endlessly by the image of endless torment for those I love.
I am, instead, comforted by the idea that their life is still good, and there are good things in it, and this person thinks those good things are worth it.
Life is good. God made it. It is not a desperate shout into the void hoping for salvation; life is, in itself, good, and every last one of his creatures gets to enjoy it.
Of all the billions of people who have ever lived, will only a select number “make it to a better place” and every single other person suffer in torment and punishment forever? Is this acceptable to God? Has God created millions of people over tens of thousands of years who are going to spend eternity in anguish? Can God do this, or even allow this, and still claim to be a loving God? Does God punish people for thousands of years with infinite, eternal torment for things they did in their few finite years of life?

you guys ever know a person who isn’t a christian but you just know would make an amazing one and give so much glory to God? like their actions and everything are so Christ-like and if they believed they would be the kind of follower of Christ we are all called to be?
anyway please pray for the conversion of this person in my life, that God calls him and softens his heart, and that he responds to the Truth.

I usually don't yeet out my messy sketchy but I really want to change that, especially since my full artworks eat up SO much time, and I also hope that those little practices will hopefully help me get better with character art and expressions🙏✨️
So have some small trahearne sketches to start of

I'm solo discipling a couple right now and I KNOW I can't do it alone. I invite them to church but they're uncomfortable coming. All I can do is hang on 'till reinforcements show up. And I'm praying like anything. Maybe Christ can work through me as if I were a community the same way he gave me a community just by giving me himself, or maybe he'll send someone in the fulness of time, but I just gotta keep on keeping on.
I've been hurt by church people more than by anybody else. And yet, solo discipleship is not a biblical option. I'll give up on the local church when Jesus does and not a second sooner.

Once again thinking about misplaced forever partners. I can’t stand you I would kill for you. We are not friends and I would cross a country for you. I don’t like you but I will stitch up your wounds and hold you at night. We will never be together and we will be intertwined until the end of time. I hate you. I love you. I need to stay away from you for your own good.

i will never forget the time luka threw his most prized possession, his guitar, on the floor and broke it to reject the akuma to protect ladybug and chat noir
or the time he dropped everything and ran to the bakery because he got marinette's message and knew something must be wrong
or the time he helped marinette catch up to the bus she missed by bicycle and trailed it until they caught up to it
or the time he never got angry at marinette for being unsure about her feelings and told her "i hope it'll help you figure things out" when she went to new york
or the time he decided to leave because he knew their identities and decided to leave everything he knew behind just to give them a chance to defeat the villain
or the time he was always there for marinette, listening to her love life problems about another boy, when he loved her himself
or the time he helped marinette in the path to discovering her true feelings for adrien and never harboured any bad feelings towards adrien at all
he is not a green flag, he is a green forest, and he deserves so so much

We Christians, we are the worst, we have a serious problem. We say everyone is welcome to come to church but when they do come, we are unprepared to receive them. We stand closed off in our little circles but we must welcome everyone. Everyone. The person might be your future killer, so what? That is God's business, not yours. We must open the circle. A man comes to me and says "Father, I am a homosexual and I have AIDS" (AIDS was a very frightening thing at this time. Very serious. Many priests would not visit people who were sick with it because of fear). And I said "So what? I am a doctor and Christ says His mercy is for the sick." Because this is the thing, mercy. We must always think "how would the Panagia [Virgin Mary] meet this person?" She would remove her veil and place it over them and cover them in mercy. So must we show mercy to all. Mercy. Mercy. We Christians are useless without mercy.
