Spirit Identification Tarot Spread
A friend of mine recently asked me to do a reading for them based on a spirit that’s been hanging around them lately, so I came up with this spread to help! If you’ve got a spirit (or spirits) hanging around you and you’re not 100% sure what they’re up to, I recommend giving this one a shot!
Tumblr media
1. What is the spirit’s intent? 2. How long has this spirit been around? 3. Is there anything specific that this spirit wants me to know? 4. Does this spirit want to work together in the long-term? 5. If they do want to work together, what do I need to do/how can I make this relationship happen?
Of course, feel free to play around with the questions and tweak them as needed. Hopefully this helps some of you!
Friendly reminder that you can view exclusive content, gain early access to my content, and tons of other perks over on my Patreon for only $2 a month!

The Magical Girl Guide to: Selkies
Tumblr media
So I made my kitsune guide and now I’m finally remaking one of my original posts on my old blog: my selkie guide. Whether you’re a sea witch or a practicing fae worker or even a casual folklorist, you’ve likely heard of selkies.
My hopes with this post is to give those interested in selkies a place to start their research on folklore and someone else’s UPG. So I’ll provide a mixture of the history surrounding selkies and then dive (pun intended) into my own personal experience working with selkies. As always, however, just use this post as a way to get your foot in the door, not the full extent of your research.
This is not an all-knowing expert article on selkies nor is my UPG the end all be all of knowledge on selkies, just my personal experiences.
what is a selkie?
By definition selkies (also called silkies, sylkies, selchies, or seal folk) are “ are mythological beings capable of changing from seal to human form by shedding their skin.” Their mythology itself originates from the Northern Isles of Scotland but there are equivalents in Faroese and Icelandic folklore as well.
selkies in folklore
Selkies probably have a really well-known folklore to anyone interested in ocean-based folktales and their stories tend to follow a specific plotline.
One day, a seal comes to comes to land and sheds it’s skin much to the surprise of a fisherman hiding near by. But the surprise to behold is the fact that the seal is a beautiful woman. Enraptured by the beauty of the seal woman, he steals her coat forcing her to stay on land, marry him, and bear his children. Years later usually because of the children or because the husband was caught slipping, the selkie gets her coat back and immediately books it to the sea and returns to her watery home.

The Magical Girl Guide to: Kitsune
Tumblr media
Finally, an excuse to use a gif of Kurama.
Whether it’s because of a huge interest in yokai or anime, most who indulge in either topic know of the Japanese fox spirit known as the kitsune. To be more specific, you’ve probably specifically heard of the nine-tailed foxes. So if you are a practitioner of witchcraft, more specifically, spirit work, there’s a chance you are interested in working with kitsune but aren’t entirely sure where to start.
So my hopes with this post is to give those interested in kitsune a place to start their research. This post includes the folklore of kitsune first and then my own UPG.
This is my personal experience, not the End All Be All Guide to kitsune. This is merely just a push in the right direction to get started with doing your own research, if you wish to work with them. A tumblr post shouldn’t be your only point of research.
what is a kitsune?
By definition, a kitsune “are intelligent foxes that possess paranormal abilities that increase as they get older and wiser.” In other words, kitsune are magical fox spirits from Japanese folklore.
While all kitsune start with one tail from birth, kitsune grow an additional tail for every century they are alive. Once they’ve achieved their ninth tail, however, regardless of much older they get, they stop gaining tails.
kitsune in folklore: the ranking system + types of kitsune
With the basics of what a kitsune is out of the way, this leads to the various kinds of kitsune in folklore. Beyond the simplicity of being fox spirits, in folklore kitsune society is actually quite elaborate with two main categories of kitsune and the subcategories within those categories.
These two main categories in folklore are the zenko (good foxes) and yako (field/wild foxes).

Ward Types and Components
For the purpose of this article, “ward” is defined as: a wall of energy with a purpose. These are different types of protective wards and components.
Anti-Detection: Prevents you/your area from being sensed by hostile forces in the first place.
Reflection Ward: Repels any outside magical attacks.
Wall Ward: Simply prevents entry/provides a barrier, just like a regular physical wall does.
Offensive Ward: Damages the intruder upon entry/touch.
Redirect portal: Entering this ward will teleport the intruder to another place.
Illusion Wards: Mess up the intruder’s senses in some way. Can make the ward much thicker than it seems to be, or even cast the illusion of being somewhere else.
Binding Wards: Condense into a binding that will limit the intruder’s ability in some way.
Minor Hex/Debuff: Cast a curse on the intruder. This can be temporary, wearing off as soon as the intruder leaves or a short time afterwards, or permanent (as can be).
Sensor:  This component senses anything and feeds that information to the other wards/to other security systems in place.
Warnings: A ward component whose only purpose is to warn the intruder. This component contains a prerecorded message. Usually of impending doom if the intruder proceeds.
Energy Drainer: A component that drains the energy of the intruder, so as to tire them out. Can also be used to redirect hostile energies elsewhere, where it cannot harm you.
The more detailed and aggressive portions, and the portion on recommended ward layers, have been cut out for the safety of the community. To see the complete version of this and other articles on advanced magic, please join my Patreon here.

Ward Fillers
A Ward Filler is what you put on the inside of the ward, in your actual space. This is so that even if an intruder or harmful energy manages to get past your wards, the inner space is still unsafe for them. Anything that you could visualize or imagine protectively clouding or filling up your space could be used as one.
You want your Ward Filler to have at least these properties:
Anti-Teleport: So those that are not invited in can’t just teleport past your wards.
Terrain Damage: So that the area is still unsafe for intruders.
Malleable Cloud of Protection: So that it could concentrate itself around you when an intruder happens.
A few potential examples:
Toxic gas: Made from the clouds of burning incense filling your space, imagine the incense smoke being poisonous to any and all intruders.
Candle: Imagine the fiery energy from the energy filling up the space, burning anything that tries to enter. Additionally, you could imagine the light could fill up the space and be damaging as well.
Light: Imagine the light from a certain lamp filling the space and frying any intruders that enter.
Protective Mist: As you spray the water around the room, imagine the water energy lingering in the air and automatically filling the lungs of any intruders, drowning them unless they leave immediately.
I hope this was helpful to you all!

A Long List of Ways to Spiritually Protect Yourself
(Updated from this old list here.)
Shielding is a practice entirely built on your intention–if you want an eternal shield, you can have it. If you believe in your shield, it will be there. There are many ways that are incredibly powerful with just the slightest trust and a little bit of practice. As soon as possible, start to practice shielding and methods of spiritual protection, since practice, along with your intention, will create the most powerful shields.
Also, you can never shield to much. It’s amazing and very empowering to have layer upon layer of shielding, and the energy and time you put into shielding will really save you a lot of energy and time in the future. Even just walking around, through crowds, cities, etc, drains your energy–negative energy is everywhere, and consciously seeking only the energy for your best and highest good will really, truly, and completely empower you.
You can shield from anything and everything, just make sure to allow in things for your “best and highest interest/good.” ShCast every shield with this affirmation. This allows what people would consider “negative” emotions to still come through, so you can live a balanced life, since not all emotions that are considered negative actually are. This affirmation effectively only allows things that raise or balance your vibration, and help you to spiritually evolve. It won’t cut you off from anything necessary. Shields themselves will never overwhelm or smother you, since they are meant solely for your needs and will always let in positive energy. Here are some simple methods to begin shielding, but you can always adopt them with your own needs and intentions! Do what works for you, just make sure to shield when practicing spirit or energy work of any sort.
Robe of White Light:
Focus for a moment on calming yourself, and once you have a clear mind, imagine a nice fluffy robe around you (I always imagine one like in the game Journey) made of white and protective light. This is the universe’s energy, and nothing ill can penetrate it once it is surrounding you.
It is recommended to repeat once or twice a day to maintain the shielding.
You can also use the affirmation of “I call upon a robe of loving and protective white light, knowing that it will protect me from all energy not in my highest interest. This robe protects me with the power of the Universe/Source/God.”
Guardian Protection:
Ask your guardian spirits (either aloud or through your mind) to protect you.
Always command that the guardians who help that they “come in light.” And if not, say they must leave. You don’t even have to know their name, but if they aren’t here to help, then they shouldn’t be around you. So just command this and all with ill intentions will be forced to leave.
Call on them for a need by need basis.
Auric Hardening:
Imagine your aura (trust whatever color you see in your mind’s eye), and then imagine it hardening, like it’s calcifying around you. It can get as hard as a rock, or like armor.
This can sometimes push away any energy exchanges, so you could feel more distant from positive interactions too. So, it’s best used when a threat is around
Usually lasts between 4 hours-2 days, depending on the strength of your intention.
Sigil warding:
Draw with a pen, marker, or with the tip of your finger (if you don’t need visible lines) a sigil with the intention of protecting yourself. A sigil is most basically an energetic line (or series of them) with an intention. The lines hold the energy and magnify the intention.
Here are examples
A post on sigil crafting
Shielding with Intention and the Universe:
Calm yourself with a short breathing meditation, then focus on what you intend to shield-yourself, another, or a place.
Imagine casting a ball of light towards the designated target, with the intention of allowing the Universe/Source to channel through you and shield whatever you intend to.
Just watch and observe as the shield is built, knowing that it is fully fueled by the energy of the Universe and will stay there, and stay strong, until the shield is released consciously by you.
You can specify this shield for certain purposes, like to only keep a spirit out, or to keep all negative spirits out.
Reiki Shielding and Protection:
In Usui Reiki, there is a technique your Reiki Masters should have taught you about warding and cleansing the room in white light. Channel Reiki energy to do this.
If you are attuned to Reiki II, you should know the 1st symbol and that it can be used to stop all energy that is not in your highest good from coming towards you, working as an effective shield when the symbol is called on.
You need to be properly attuned to Reiki for this.
Bubble shielding:
Similar to the white light or shielding with intention, but focusing on making and empowering a bubble around you.
Replenish this as often as possible, since this is dependent on your own care.
Can be in an oval or a sphere shape. If this is hard to get a hang of, then try just fitting it a couple inches away from your body, similar to auric hardening.
Waterfall shielding:
A bubble shield with the intention of existing on top of an underneath bubble shield.
Focus on this shield and set the intention of having it move around like a waterfall. This way, someone sending negative energy has a very small chance of hitting the same place twice.
Elemental shielding:
All of these are built with a specific intention and visualization of the shield. Time around such element used will strengthen the shield, or a conscious meditation to draw the energy towards you and the shield.
Fire shield: Envision burning fire, that will destroy all negative energy/energy not for your highest good, when it tries to enter your energetic space.
Water shield: Similar to the waterfall shield, but with the visual of actual water flowing that can wash away all negative debris or toxicity clinging to any form of bubble shield underneath it.
Earth shielding: This one can block off positive energy too, since it works more like a layer of earth around the person. Though, it can also be envisioned to only grow/manifest around you in times of need or when you’re being attacked or faced with negative energy. It can also block your third eye from seeing outside. Earth shielding can also work as a means of grounding you, which doesn’t have negative effects (as long as you don’t neglect your upper chakras). If you ground yourself to the earth, and your are harmed or shaken by negative energy, you can replenish your energy from the earth.
Air shielding: Envision a fast current of air around you that sweeps away all negative energy or malevolent beings.
Light shielding: A bright white light that totally purifies all energy that contacts it, similar to the robe of white light. Different colored lights can work too, but they all have specific purposes that you should research first.
Ether shielding: Sometimes this works like a portal, transporting all malevolent energy to another place in the universe. Just make sure to set the intention that things in your best and highest interest aren’t affected, and that the travel won’t severely harm anyone who is transported by the portal (since sometimes negative energy can come from just someone in a bad mood).
Chaos shielding: Not always considered an element, but with the idea of scattering any negative energy–the sudden increase in entropy raises the vibration to something more positive.
Shadow and smoke shielding: Imagining either element around you, mostly for cloaking and making your energy less obvious. This is great for astral projection and spiritual travel when you don’t want to be noticed. You can infuse the energy with an intention of how you want to be perceived, like if a threat comes, then you can suddenly raise this shield and make the smoke cause you to seem dangerous, scaring off the opponent.
Halo shielding:
Imagine a series of halos that spin quickly around you, moving to knock away negative energy if it approaches your space. This can be inside or outside of a bubble or light based shield.
Protection charms and enchanted objects:
Work made by you, when you have a lot of experience, in creating a sigil charm or enchanted object meant for protection. This can also be from someone who has passed down a family protection amulet (just research it and bathe it in light to clear any possible negative energy on it), or from an experienced energy worker making protection amulets, charms, or objects.
Some are religiously charged, like crosses, pentagrams, etc. If this matches your belief, your belief will empower it.

Is Your Spirit A Thoughtform?
This post by Lethe and Acheron was written in collaboration with @scarletprophecies.
What is a thoughtform?
A thoughtform is a mass of energy given form, thought, and purpose by the creator. Their form and label depends on the creator of what purpose they take. It takes time and energy to create a thoughtform. You don’t just think of a character and wink them into existence. It’s your intention and energy spent to put into creation of a thoughtform that gives it a purpose, a face, a personality, etc. They are limited by what the creator knows even if given traits of having known something the creator doesn’t. You can read more about thoughtforms at the end of the post.
Why should I be looking out for thoughtforms?
A thoughtform, on its own, is not bad. They are not inherently dangerous, and if you are aware (or find out) that you are working with a thoughtform, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! The biggest problem, however, and the reason for this post, is that many times people will mistake the thoughtforms they work with for spirits/entities. There is a very clear difference, and these common signs will help you determine if the spirit or entity you are working with is actually a thoughtform that has been misidentified, either by you or another worker.
Working with thoughtforms and having thoughtform friends is okay! Just recognize that they are not spirits, and that a thoughtform might lack the free will or self-deterministic abilities that an entity might have. People try to pass them off as spirits or may mistake them as spirits, which is the problem.
Common Signs
Please note: this is not an all-encompassing list and that someone displaying any of these signs might not necessarily be a thoughtform. As always, it is important that you practice strong discernment skills and that you are realistic about who you are working with.
Your spirit lacks emotional depth and maturity alongside critical thinking skills. They are very one-dimensional, and they may have a very shallow personality.
The spirit doesn’t have a life outside of YOU. They never go anywhere else, or do anything else. They live with you, go everywhere with you, and never seem to leave.
Your spirit has no friends, hobbies, etc. They simply have You and You’re Special™.
The spirit is Perfect™ and you are perfectly compatible with each other. Nothing is ever wrong with them.
You know everything about the spirit after having met them very recently. Anything you find out about them is unsurprising. They lack private lives, thoughts, secrets, etc.
They have the best and worst qualities that you find appealing.
They tend to fall on extreme “anime tropes” as personality quirks. They started off as an OC, or they sound like they could be one.
They act the exact same age as you and/or have the same maturity level as you, no matter how old the spirit is.
Your mood and mental health both overly affect them. (It is normal for both of these things to affect your spirit working abilities, but they should not change the type of energy your perceive from an entity, for example).
They behave how you want them to or exactly how you do. They may act on what you think, instead of of their own volition.
Their interests are those you want them to be. They like what you like — not just overlapping interests, they mirror what you like, and it changes based on what you’re interested in.
They are ALWAYS supportive. ALWAYS.
They act like a loving and patient counselor and/or saintly friend all the time. They have no emotional boundaries or needs of their own.
They like all the people you like and hate all the people you hate, no questions asked. This will shift depending on how you feel.
They never get upset or angry at you. They never criticize you. You’ve never had a fight or serious discussion. You never disagree with each other, ever.
Your values are literally the exact same, or the entity’s values are shallow and/or lack thought. They don’t have their own opinions or morals, etc.
They are all ultra, uber powerful and/or the softest bean.
They have no culture, family, history — they lack something from before they met you. Alternatively, they have exactly the family, culture, or history you thought they did, even before they told you about it.
When you question them, you’re unsurprised by their answers.
They act like memelords and understand ALL the pop culture references you make without the need of an explanation.
They manifest very strongly right after you have spent a lot of time thinking of them or with them, and you feel unreasonably drained after these sessions.
Their energy is flat, it is stagnant, it is weak or flimsy, and/or it is difficult to sense and scrutinize in depth.
You have a persistent gut feeling that they are a thoughtform (beyond regular doubts or anxieties that you might experience in your practice). Regardless of validation from other spirit workers, or confirmation through different divination methods, the gut feeling won’t go away.
Distinguishing if a being is a thoughtform or a spirit/entity can be incredibly difficult, because some thoughtforms are very well-crafted. However, the above signs are still be helpful guidelines so that you are able to draw your own conclusions based on your own investigations and discernment.

Servitors: A Basic Guide to Artificial Entities
By Sparrow
 What Are Servitors?
Servitors are entities made by witches for a specific purpose. For a simple comparison, they are like imaginary friends.
Why Do People Make Servitors?
As stated above, servitors are usually made for a specific purpose. This purpose can be long-term or just until a specific action is completed. The most common reason is to create a servitor to serve as a protector, a living ward and shield. However, the purpose can be as simple as wanting a loyal companion, like a pet of sorts.
Servitors can also be made to carry out spells or curses. They will transport the intent to the target and then will cease to exist as soon as their duty is completed.
Types and Classifications.
Independent and Dependent.
And Independent servitor does not need its creator. It can exist without any attachment to the maker, leaving room for the risk of going rogue and disobeying orders. Independents are generally Intelligent. I do not recommend making Independent servitors. Dependents cannot exist without their creator. This makes them very loyal and will not be able to revolt without ceasing to exist. Dependents can have any level of Intelligence without risk.
Intelligent, Limited Intelligence, No Intelligence (No Free Will and/or no ability to communicate).
The level of Intelligence determines whether or not the servitor can speak, think, and have opinions of its own. It is what determines whether or not it is a dog or a human, to put it simply. This can be changed post-creation and servitors can evolve their Intelligence if given the chance and potential. Simple servitors that are not programmed to specifically stay at a low level of Intelligence can become very Intelligent.
Any combination of Independence (or lack thereof) and Intelligence will give you the basic foundation and limitations for your servitor. These can be changed post-creation, but it is recommended to keep the servitor in its original and intended state. High Intelligence coupled with Independence can potentially lead to trouble down the road if the servitor decides that it is not content with serving.
All of my servitors are completely Dependent, with varying Intelligence levels. It is much safer that way.
Methods for Making a Servitor (Soul Molding, Echo Weaving, Charging)
Soul Forming: This is the easiest way to create a servitor. It also ensures that the servitor is completely dependent on its creator and can be easily destroyed should it malfunction. This is recommended for companion-type servitors and long-term servitors.
Essentially, it is the process of the creator taking part of their energy or soul (whatever term you use), pulling a bit out like Silly Putty while leaving a string connecting to the main piece, and then shaping that bit into a form pleasing to the eyes. Using this method, the servitor is literally an extension of the creator. It is very easy to perform and the servitors made with this method are extremely dependable and easy to control, as the creator is simply controlling a piece of themselves. A good failsafe for this method, should a servitor try to go against its programming, is for the extended bit that the servitor is made of to immediately be reabsorbed at the first thought of retaliation. Nothing is wasted and it is very easy to “edit” servitors made with this method.
The main problem with this method is that it is not the safest method for servitors that might take damage. Protective servitors made with Soul Forming are extensions of the creator. Should they be harmed, there is a high chance of the creator also experiencing some discomfort. There is a possibility that, should a servitor be destroyed, that energy from the creator might not be able to be reabsorbed, causing a period of exhaustion as the creator’s energy work to fill in the gap left. So far, I have not experienced any of these possibilities, though they are something to keep in mind.
Echo Weaving: This is the newest method that I have begun to use. Servitors made with this method tend to have low Intelligence and are not as strong as ones made with different methods. This method is recommended for scouting, swarming, or easy-to-manifest servitors.
To use this method, the creator needs to be familiar with energy signatures, as this is what this method depends on. Everyone leaves behind a sort of echo or trace of their energy behind them, like footsteps. Once the servitor’s design is decided upon, the maker takes that energy signature echo and forms the servitor from it. This way, the servitor takes no present energy from the creator to manifest and it will feed on the constant echoes left behind. This method is currently being tested and has not been in use enough to know any possible problems that might arise.
Charging: This method is used to make a servitor out of a previously created character. It involves taking that character’s personality and form and pushing energy into it, as if breathing life into an empty husk. This method is recommended for those who already know exactly what they want. It is a process similar to charging a sigil or stone.
Each person generally comes up with a few personal methods that they prefer to use. These are just the main ones that I have used.
Anchors
It is recommended that every servitor that is long-term be made a physical anchor. For example, one of my protective servitors is linked to our plane by a painted deer skull. Bones work very well for animal-like servitors. A physical anchor can be anything from a picture to a pencil. Sigils are often used, as well. A physical anchor should be kept somewhere safe and away from any hazards. Should the creator get too weak to manifest the servitor themselves, then the physical anchor is what keeps the servitor functioning properly until the creator is better.
It is also recommended that the creator make themself an anchor. This way, the servitor has a portable anchor and can follow its creator easily. Servitors with this type of anchor are always Dependent. The creator should never be the only anchor for their servitor, only secondary.
Anchors are like save files for servitors. Once a work is complete, it is saved to a USB or a hard drive. It exists in that save file and is preserved. The reason that more than one anchor is important is that, should one of the save files be deleted or corrupted, there is a copy in a different location.
Basic Rules
·         Whatever you create is solely your responsibility.
·         Any offense that your servitor commits falls back on you, as you are the owner and creator. The blame falls on you.
·         If you have no further use for a servitor, destroy it.
Am I Ready to Make a Servitor?
Do you have the design and purpose for your potential servitor? Do you know exactly what you want it to do, how to act, and how to look? Much like creating a character to use in a story, all of this is essential before the actual performance. You are creating artificial life, not doing improv. Details are a must.
Now that that is figured out, do you have your anchor(s) figured out? Are you healthy and have a good idea of how to make your servitor? Do you have shields and wards up in case anything goes wrong?
If all of these questions are answered with “yes,” then go ahead. Good luck.
What Do I Do If My Servitor Goes Rogue? Am I to Blame?
Yes. A thousand times yes. I cannot stress this enough. You made this, you are responsible for every little thing it does. The servitor is a part of you-or was. You must take the blame for anything it does. If it harms someone, you have harmed someone. Keep this in mind if you were planning on avoiding any consequences of cursing someone by having a servitor carry the curse.
If you have a dog and that dog attacks someone, you take responsibility for that attack.
Another thing to keep in mind, servitors typically carry the same or a very similar energy signature to their creators. If I sent out one of mine to attack someone, then it could potentially be traced back to me by someone experienced with energy signatures.
If a servitor goes rogue, destroy it immediately. Whatever it meant to you, it has decided not to follow you anymore. It is dangerous and should be erased immediately.
Things to Keep in Mind.
·         It is possible to unintentionally create a servitor. It is actually a common problem that not many people realize that they have done. If an entity shows up to work with you and acts exactly how you want it to, then it might be a servitor that you unconsciously made. These types of servitors can come in any form, even as a powerful entity that one might believe is a god or divine being. They will act out of character if they are in the form of a commonly known god, though to the creator it will seem completely plausible. They might visit others. The more people that believe them to be a powerful entity, the more power the servitor will gain. There is a possibility that these types of servitors do not know that they are not who they look like. These types of servitors, once discovered to be servitors, should be erased immediately to avoid any long lasting consequences.
·         If the creator does not name their servitor, it might name itself. This is not too big of a problem, but it is recommended to check the meaning behind the name it has given itself.
·         Do not forget that a servitor is not truly its own being. If it malfunctions or there is no need for it, do not hesitate to destroy it immediately. It can be remade better later on.
·         Intelligent servitors can access your own knowledge, resulting in them bringing up latent problems or fears that the creator has not dealt with yet. This can be distressing if the servitor presses to have the issue worked out and the creator is not ready to do so.
·         Servitors do not stop existing if you forget about them. I have one that I forgot about for two years and she is still around-she even gained a higher Intelligence level while I forgot about her. They exist in a sort of limbo.
·         Keep an eye on higher level Intelligent servitors. These can become dangerous if not kept in check.
·         Rogue servitors can come to you masquerading as entities. While you may have not created them, they are still servitors and should not be treated as true entities, no matter what they claim.
·         Should you believe in past lives, servitors created lifetimes ago by a previous incarnation might still exist. They are typically very weak after long periods of having no contact with their creator-many ceasing to exist if separated long enough. Ones that persist through the ages to find their creators are generally very dependable.
·         Servitors that can talk usually come up with a name for their creator. I have been called “mother” and “mistress” and “my lady,” to name a few possibilities. My servitors are generally very aware of the fact that they exist because I made it so, thus having some sort of reverence toward me. I would assume that this is common with servitors that know they are servitors.
·         Servitors are great constant companions. They can also be utilized in astral travel as companions, guides, steeds, and protectors.
·         A servitor might start to weaken over time or fade. Should this happen, push more energy into them to revitalize them.
·         Servitors can be given to other people should the creator no longer want them or decides that the other person can use their servitor better. Once ownership is given, the original creator has no control over the servitor. The new owner can change the servitor as they see fit and give it a new purpose. Only trust another with your servitor if you know that you will never want it back. The new owner can destroy it, as well.
·         Avoid naming servitors that only exist to carry spells, as they will cease to exist as soon as their job has been completed.

in light of yesterday's rant, here are some tarot spreads which you can submit any single question or topic to.
I'll start by linking my this, but not that spread, which while it's only 3 cards, is not a proper "three card draw."

crown and branches (5 cards)
nine card tableau (9 cards)
elemental quarters (4, 5, 8, 9, 16, 17, 32, 33, 36 or 37 cards)
Click here to see if this masterpost has been updated since it was reblogged
[Do you like these spreads? Reblogging the masterpost will not preserve the spreads if the original posts are locked or deleted. If you are an archiving blog, you need to reblog each individual post to improve chances of long-term access.]

Dedicated Spaces in Tech Magic
Welp, I was in a bit of a funk re: my craft and then I was inspired by a question from @artsiwych sooo... Have some talk about making a dedicated space for your tech magic. I'll try to go back through soon and link resources but this was a 2am mad type-up.
So, one of the nice things about tech magic is it doesn't require much physical space or presence. It blends nicely into your mundane life so if you are living with those who don't support witchcraft or just prefer to not explain an altar to visitors to your place? Tech witchcraft is amazing for that.
This does NOT mean you can get away with not having a dedicated space to practice, however. Sure, I'll do programming work on whatever machine is available, but the serious work? The actual craft of things? I have separate devices, accounts, even separate Discord servers for my bots when doing serious magical work like one would do at an altar. Tech magic may be digital but it is still magic and you need to set it apart from your other digital doings.
There's a number of ways you can do this. I'm going to devide this into both physical and digital elements, so think from both angles to find whichever one fits your budget, means, and workflow.
Separate physical devices
Much like an altar can be anything from a table to an Altoids tin, you can easily keep a digital device set apart for your witchy doings. This can be anything from a USB flash drive to a completely separate computer/device.
If you want to go to the moon, you can do something like I have with my Raspberry Pi Zero W where I can remote connect to it using wi-fi. Have I mentioned the device was $15 for the board and the case? It's a steal of a computer, especially if you have some old micro-usb chargers lying around. You could also use an old cellphone just for magical work, if you like mobile apps. Or you could have a flash drive with whatever setup you wish on it, whether that is a bootable OS setup or just a bunch of files. Think outside the box and do some research on small computers or repurposing old tech. There's a lot you can do on this end of things.
Separate digital spaces
If you are using a device you usually use for mundane activities for magical ones as well, consider setting up a separate digital space for your craft. At the bare minimum, anyone using cloud storage for their craft should consider making an account separate from their primary. But this can be much more complex as well, as it is easy to fall into old habits when using the same space for both mundane and magical activities.
One easy way to do this is to make a second user account on your PC and use it just for magical work. This is a trick I suggest to people who have trouble shutting off their notifications on their main profile, as it isolates you from your usual space. This clear digital line between accounts keeps you on task.
On the other hand, if you have a need to swap back and forth, try a Virtual Machine on your computer. This lets you run a computer within your computer, complete with its own OS. Now, installing an OS on a Virtual Machine can be tricky, especially if your current OS license is for one computer only. If this is the case, Linux is going to be your friend. Find a distro you like and give it a try. Ubuntu is always a solid choice if you want somewhere to start.
Things to consider:
- What sort of mobility does your tech space need?
- If writing code, what languages will you need to write and what apps to compile and process?
- If working with graphics, what physical and digital requirements does your space need?
- Do you want a graphical interface, or a command line interface?
- Do you want to use systems you are comfortable with, or do you want to learn something new in the process of setting up your space? Systems you are comfortable with will ensure less fumbling in the middle of your craft, but sometimes pushing yourself to learn something new creates a build up of energy you can add to your work.

I told my big sister about leaving a New Age group because I could no longer excuse its bigotry, and she said I should have stayed on to try to help "reform" it into something more progressive. Please elaborate on why that is a terrible, terrible idea.
Sure, no problem!
So let's pretend for the moment that New Age actually could be reformed, and that pseudoscience and chauvinism aren't baked into its very foundations. Even if it could be reformed, you might not have all the skills or emotional resilience that you'd need to get anywhere with it. It's okay to admit that you just aren't prepared or equipped to deal with a problem.
Also, you are just one person, and New Age is so full of people with their heads shoved completely up their asses that you'd likely burn yourself out very quickly without accomplishing anything. There's just no arguing with people who think Graham Hancock and their own personal gnosis about the Lemurian-Atlantean hyperwar are more valid than actual scientific research. It would be a poor use of your time.
Now let's examine the reasons New Age simply cannot be reformed.
First of all, it proposes that the world cannot and will not get better unless more and more people are converted to New Age. In fact, New Age even goes so far to say that the conversion is an inevitable part of Earth's evolution, sort of like a spiritual Manifest Destiny. The endgame is the eradication of all other religions, which is genocide. To admit this is wrong and that other people should generally be left to their current religions would be to admit that New Age is wrong. You wouldn't really be a New Ager anymore if you stopped believing in this.
Secondly, no amount of assuming that you understand other people's spiritual traditions better than they do can ever be progressive. The whole perennialist "we're all just seeking unity with the Divine Source, so our religions are actually the same at their core" sentiment is spiritual colonialism. It ignores and flattens the (often extreme) differences between religious traditions for the sake of assimilating everyone into a sort of bland post-Christian universalism. To admit that this isn't actually desirable would be to reject the assertion that New Age a superior religion, and thereby reject the idea that converting people to it is a necessary step in making social and economic progress. Again, you're not really a New Ager anymore once you do this.
Many New Agers feel quite certain that New Age must be an overall positive thing because it speaks to their compassionate and idealistic sides. However, you can be compassionate and idealistic in many religions, including ones that don't push eugenics and colonialism. Whatever genuinely positive things are enshrined in New Age, they also exist elsewhere, and you're probably going to have a much more fulfilling experience if you seek out these other communities. There are so many alternatives with so much to offer, and I hope your sister can come to recognize that.

Let me just hop on and rant a little bit…
Astrology does not have an effect on your mental health. Your brain composition, family history, and events/trauma you experienced are not determined by your chart.
I just saw a big post about what astrology placements may contribute to mental illnesses such as eating disorders. Spreading information like this is not only inaccurate, it’s very harmful. Mental health is complicated and extremely personal. Sharing posts like that can prevent people from seeking the help they might really need. I love analyzing my birth chart for so many different details, but knowing that your lived experiences also change the course of your life is so important in our life journeys.
The post also mentioned toxic relationships with family being predicted through certain conjunctions. It’s the same thing. Your life is one of a kind, and astrology can help us analyze many things, but individual relationships, especially harmful or toxic ones, cannot be mapped out at the time of your birth.
Many astrologers may disagree with me, but I encourage everyone, especially beginner witches and astrologers, who see discourse like this to question it a little bit!
Magic/Astrology and Science must work together in order for us to fully understand ourselves and continue healing.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
