"Climate distress" is sometimes more accurate than "climate anxiety" to describe how people are feeling. Our emotions are much more complex than just being anxious - we feel guilt, despair, anger, grief, and even denial, toward the threats facing our landscapes and lives today.
Many are turning to social science for new solutions and answers on the climate crisis. I hope my work can continue to be an example of how our lives, identities, and stories aren't only relevant, but are essential for creating impact in the world.
I hate reading articles like, "will humans survive climate change?". We know what will happen because it's happening now. We can survive, but that's largely dependent on just systems and equity.
It's awful that our lives are going to be defined by the climate crisis but here we are. We're waking up, shrugging off the dust of past beliefs and stretching muscles within that have been patiently waiting for us to dance with them again.
