part of the reason it's so annoying is that while they're screaming about how insensitive and awful it is for you to not interpret the show the same way because it's a slap in the face to their personal trauma or whatever, they're completely ignoring the fact that you have your own experiences and possibly even trauma. it's just so egocentric and self-centered.

this is exactly it. it's one thing if someone is coming into your inbox or replying to all of your posts with stuff that upsets you (in which case the block button exists) but if you can't handle the mere idea that there are people out there holding opinions about fictional characters that you don't agree with and that thought upsets you so much that it affects your mental health?? then you are not mature enough to be engaging in media any more complex than mickey mouse clubhouse and you shouldn't be in fandom spaces.

why do so many sam fans seem to think that everyone else is under some kind of obligation to make sure they're interpreting the show the exact same way so as not to upset their delicate sensibilities........... as opposed to it being their own responsibility to not seek out content that will upset them???
