I really love when someone comments on my fic, and it’s fuel for me. There were times I wanted to delete my fanfiction altogether, but then I saw that one person who kept leaving comments on one of my stories, and it kept me going.

On the other hand, I have another fic that reached 300 views, but only received a few kudos and just two comments over 15 chapters. Honestly, I lost the motivation to continue it.

It’s not that I expect anything specific… but it feels like maybe I haven’t written enough, or well enough. I know I write for my own happiness, but I’d be even happier if there were more interaction around my fics.

"I didn't comment on a fic I liked because I don't think the author would care or remember my comment anyway". fanfic writer here, I still remember comments I got on my fics from seven years ago. I still think about them and they still make me smile. your kind comments are what motivates us and what helps us keep writing.

I personally know writers who take screenshot and print out comments they got from their readers.

TL;DR comments matter to us writers more than you think. if you like a fanfic, never be shy to let the author know ♡

Going back to old writing is either just like:

1. “Who wrote this masterpiece?! It was ME?!”

2. “Who wrote this absolute shit? Oh fuck my life, that was me, wasn’t it?”

A fucking menace. Anyway, read 'The Law Of Love And Punishment' on ao3. i don't think there's much romance in my fanfic. I want the main focus to be on action, puzzle-solving, mystery, and action. Of course, there will be romantic moments like display of affection, but they won't happen right away. Maybe not until chapter 30 or later.
