ppl tag me a lot in posts about cracker barrel and ppl ask me a lot about the time i lived in norway but i think ppl aren't connecting the two and that's essential. i worked at cracker barrel and it was so bad that one night i was having a complete meltdown after a shift so bad that i finally decided to quit and i was crying in the group chat, i said, "but what will i do?" because working at cracker barrel and my manager Dave messed me up so bad that quitting wasn't enough. and my friend said "idk i have a friend who moved to the other side of the state to volunteer on a farm one time" and i said "oh that's an idea. but where would i go?" and my friend said, "you like the cold?" and i said, "that's true." so i looked up "farming in cold climates" and something came up about a specific variety of potato from Arctic Norway (Gulløye) and I said "sure" and I moved to Tromsø 2 weeks later. to get away from Dave.

So I watched a couple of YGO DM episodes in French, the Battle City arc. It had been a long time since I watched the anime, so I didn't have a lot of memories of it. But damn it. They are all so stupid and the French dub makes it even worst.

First, they seem to not be able to get the characters' names right. Marik's name is mispronounced, Ishizu is called "Shidzu" and Mokuba "Makuba". Why? Also they translated absolutely everything in French, Battle City becoming "Bataille Ville" sounds so bad.

Then, Yami Bakura and Yugi's duel is so freaking funny. I have no idea if the dialogue are exactly the same in English, but here are a few quotes translated:

Bakura: "And the letter is the-" (there is a blank in the dialogue as if he was checking the card) "F!"

Bakura "I have 3 letters out of the destiny board!"

Yami: "I know how to count."

(Damn, Yami, that was so rude)

Yugi: *give a long, detailed and a bit confusing explanation to everyone, basically saying 3 times the same things differently, to explain why Yami Bakura switched with Ryou at the end.* Okay, that's enough talking about spirit. I think everyone is tired talking about spirit. Let's go.

This is an expanded version of a thought I had on Bluesky the other day.

Season one hinted at it and season two made it explicitly canon: in the ineffables' relationship, food is a metaphor for physical intimacy. They eat together as a way to ease tension, to solidify their bond, to express joy and affection, and in the case of a certain ox rib in a certain cellar, to explore the joy of discovering a new physical pleasure. (Jesus fucking Christ Crowley keep it together before your eyes pop out 😂😂)

Food is how they fuck, is what I'm saying here.

So near the end of season one, when they're ordering ice creams from the cart and get nabbed by their people, is that like them getting caught in the act? If we take this metaphor a little further, it's like:

Crowley: We need to get the attention of the homophobic cops and draw them out into the open.

Aziraphale: I know just the thing. Pucker up, buttercup.

And when he hands Crowley the vanilla with a flake, Crowley is like, This isn't how we usually do things, do you want me to just hold it or....

Okay I'll stop now. This is a fun as hell metaphor though, I could do this all day.
