Join us on Wed 22 October where we celebrate 75 years of iconic jazz label Blue Note Records.
Blue Note Records was founded in New York in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Max Margulis and have released records from jazz icons such as Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, Thelonious Monk and more! Blue Note was also noted for their striking and unusual artwork put together by artist, Reid Miles.
To mark their 75th birthday, Radio Magnetic are hosting a special livetsream event to celebrate the milestone. The night features music from our resident jazz impresario, Andy Watt and selector of fine rarities, Jaisu. Andy is going to play a broad selection of Blue Note classics, journeying the full spectrum of jazz with Jaisu dropping some Blue Note influenced electronic and hip-hop.

Stream episode 2 of the Hometown Social Club Podcast featuring a mix from Lee Dundas.  Lee is the most recent recruit to the HSC Collective and has been DJing for less than a year. His enthusiasm for the party is truly infectious. Almost immediately upon meeting him we knew we had to find a way to get him involved. Turns out his enthusiasm for the party is matched with his enthusiasm for DJing.  We thought we might never get the chance to share this mix due to some last minute hitches but we’re good to go now.

After a two year hiatus Andy Watt returned to the Radio Magnetic studio to record a new episode of Entropy, full of majestic jazzy delights.
It was like he was never away… Geoffrey (our faithful old mixing desk) was still there, the headphones still only work in one ear and Andy’s selections were as superb as always.
This episode featuring superb tracks from the likes of Billie Holiday, Snarky Puppy, The Overton Berry Ensemble and more. Enjoy!

Rainer Trueby takes the reigns in this episode of CBLS fresh from dropping his latest album, “Slouse – fishing in slower territories”.  The mix is a perfect example of what “Slouse” is all about, a very tasty blend of mid-tempo house nuggets. Sit back and listen to Rainer’s mix, recorded at the legendary Garito Cafe in Palma earlier this year. Enjoy!

Getting back into a regular thing as we move on from our Globules live stream, Experiment 32 lands with an unplanned homage to all that is new and good in Glasgow. Covering new releases from OOFT!, Burnt Island Casuals and Alex Smoke. We pile on the pressure with stormers from Italia 90 and MermaidS. Plenty for the non residents thought with choice cuts from Henrik Schwarz, Moodymanc and more!
Inspiration comes in the form of a signed photo of Mariah Carey courtesy of Jon Phonics.
