A walk cycle with personality!

This was also from the first quarter of the program, but I’m really proud of myself. This one took a few tries to get it right, and there’s one small jump that bothers me, but I feel confident with walk cycles now, and I’m happy that my skills are improving!

This was one of my favourite Photoshop assignments. I don’t have much experience with digital painting, so I was really excited to give this assignment a try. It’s a little off from the photo reference, but overall I am really proud of myself. I’m excited to keep practicing and improving! I found the reference image on google.

This was one of my favourite assignments. I feel like I was able to make it look exactly as I imagined it, and it has the feeling I’m going for. There are still a few mistakes, but overall, I’m really happy with this one.

This is my final assignment for the first quarter of the program. I am pretty proud of myself for getting the timing to work and making it look pretty smooth. There are a few things I could improve, but at least I know what to do better in the future.

Class visit from Todd Ramsay

We had one of the owners of the animation studio Yeti Farm, visit our class. He talked about how he got into animation and how he and his wife started up their studio with only 5 students to start with. He also talked about an accident he had that ended up breaking his drawing hand and how he taught himself to draw with his left hand so he wouldn't have to give up animation. I was really inspired by that because many people would have given up before that point and if not, that would have been the end of it. Hearing him talk about his studio and how it's grown from the small start made me feel really excited to work there and I hope that I get the chance. Todd also talked about what he looks for in new animators and I'm really excited to show my skills at the end of the program.
