(Rafes drawings)
Summary: Rafe tells you about his mother
—
You and rafe had been dating for 3 months. Your relationship to you was as close as you could get to perfection. Rafe Cameron the cold blooded boy with steel walls towards everyone. Everyone but you
Rafe opened up quickly to you. Not just his mouth or his heart but his mind. Rafe allowed you to explore his mind both literally and figuratively. Everyone’s room reflects their mind.
Rafe never let anyone in his room. Sarah or wheezie always being met with a cracked door. But Rafe let you right In as if it were your own home
You never spent too much time exploring the walls of his room but today that was different. After a long conversation Rafe had gotten up to use the bathroom while you had gotten up just to walk around the Rafe filled space.
His room was neat. The dark blue walls pushing you away and mysteriously inviting you in at the same time. The smell of his expensive cologne hugging you.
You came across his desk to find his notebooks. You knew Rafe was an artist. You’re probably the only one that did know. Picking up the first notebook you began to admire the pencil markings on the paper
Page after page filled with pictures no one other than you and Rafe had seen. A smile formed on your face until you flipped to a page to see a woman. Under it captioned “ma 1978-2011”
You turn around to find Rafe staring at you intently. Rafe didn’t mind when you looked at his drawings, in fact he adored it. But the look on his face was far from adoration. Knowing you had been caught you knew you had to confront it.
“Rafe, who is this woman?” You asked quietly. Stepping toward him holding the page near him. Rafe shut his eyes quickly as if dust had filled them.
“Look at it,” he replied. You faced the drawing back towards you. The deep bright blue eyes, just like Rafes. The tan skin, just like Rafes. The freckles are even in the same places as Rafe.
“My mom” Rafe spoke before you could even get a word out. “She passed away right after wheezie was born. Doctors say it had nothing to do with the pregnancy but then again they couldn’t give us a clear reason for her passing. Ward threw every memory we had of her in the trash. Sarah and I were able to find a few pieces of her jewelry but the drawings are all I have. Haven’t spoken about her as a family since the funeral”.
You knew Rose wasn’t Rafes biological mom but it never registered in your mind to think past that. You walked over to Rafe sitting you both down on the bed.
“She would’ve loved to meet you y/n”
“She would’ve love to meet the man you became Rafe”

Summary:
Loosely based off of a scene in the movie 6 years where after an argument the police arrive on the scene
—
Silently you and Rafe sat in your car in the jail parking lot waiting for the rain to die down. Not a single word had been said to each other since the night before
“You kissed her!” You yelled at Rafe storming out of the party you 2 were currently attending. “No I didn’t y/n I don’t even know why she would text me that”. Rafe responded eager to end this argument or at least take it off the side walk around some random kooks house
“That’s such bullshit Rafe. You’ve slept with practically every kook girl on the island. I wouldn't be surprised if I was just up first in a long list of girls you had” Rafe and you rarely argued. Your serious disagreements never really lasted longer than 10 minutes. You were both adamant on being respectful to one another. One way you two honored that by never bringing up the others past actions. You specifically never tried to bring in Rafes reputation.
Rafe moved towards you attempting to put his hands on your shoulders to soothe you. Trying to get you to calm down before you said anything else to hurt him. You knew Rafe would never physically hurt you yet you pushed him back feeling emotional pain.
Rafe stumbled slightly before coming back. Trying to give you a hug yet you weren’t having it. Continuing to yell and try to push him off before sirens were heard right by your ear.
Before either of you could process anything Rafe was on the ground with his hands behind his head before being led into the cop car. The last thing you can remember was him looking at you.
You’ll never be able to tell what look it was, or what he was thinking. It wasn’t just disappointment or sadness, maybe it was disgust or fear. The color of his eyes had drained and his brows hung so low. You watched as he was forced into the cop car. This was nothing new for you or him. The amount of times Rafe has been arrested is uncountable. Yet this time it was because of you
The rain seemed to let up everywhere but over the 2 of you. A cloud still hung over your heads thundering down. You finally gathered the courage to lift your head up and look at Rafe. Only to see him staring right back at you.
“I’m sorry” you started meekly. “Even if you did cheat I’m sorry you do-“ “I didn’t kiss her” Rafe said, staring blankly at you. Staring deeply at you. “At least not recently. I kissed her before I met you. Long before I met you. Why she’s texting me that she wants a round 2 I have no idea but I swear I didn’t cheat”
You wanted to cry. You screamed at him and dug up his past actions which he regrets and even got him sent to jail for the night yet all he wanted to do was assure you that he was as loyal as he said he was.
Reaching over the console you hugged Rafe. He was taken aback, surprised you were even so close to him in the car. Slowly he wrapped his arms around you speaking
“Let’s go home”

Rain together
You never thought at 20 years old you’d still be on the outer banks living the life as a Pogue while serving to the kooks. You didn’t think you’d be a kook by now either. That being the last thing you wanted. All you craved was to be somewhere far far away from this Pogue vs Kook life.
But life was expensive. No matter what job you got it was never enough. And the high paying jobs were strictly ran by kooks and only for kooks. And even if a Pogue like you managed to land a job owned by some brooding kook you were underpaid and overworked.
This brain tangling dilemma lead you to choosing a job as a quaint restaurant. The pay wasn’t much but maybe in a few years you’ll book a one way ticket to where no Kook has been. The restaurant was often quiet. The music you’ve gotten to know by heart being louder than any conversation held.
People didn’t come there to socialize or have a nice dinner with their family. It was more of a 30 minute getaway before immersing yourself back into the Pogue life. Which is why everyone and their mother was shook when none other than the Cameron’s walked in.
It had been like any other day, long and uneventful yet giving you much time to be with your thoughts. The rain was pouring down hard. The sound of the droplets hitting everything in sight outside soothing you more than anything could.
Maybe 10 people occupied the restaurant besides you and your coworkers. Most just wanting a coffee while waiting for the rain to die down. But as you tried your best to remove a stain with a hot rag the bell of the restaurant went off alerting you of a new presence.
You heard a herd of feet walk near the cashier you before you locked eyes with the Ward himself. You almost wanted to pinch yourself to see if it was real. Most kooks would rather die than be seen on the cut unless it was for a party let alone eat in one of their restaurants.
But in the flesh was the whole Cameron family soaking wet and waiting for something to eat.
“I- What can I get for you guys tonight”
You meekly poured out with the tight lip smile. “Maybe a new set of clothes if you have the back there” the ward replied with a smile filled with none either than warmth
Now you never socialized with the Cameron’s yet you had your own assumptions on them. The ward being a kind person was not one of them.
“Well over there we have some heaters you can sit by and I’ll give you paper menus and once you’re ready you can come order”
Ward and rose thanked you while their 3 brooding childeren followed them. After a silent 15 minutes or so of every Pogue in the restaurant exchanging looks each Cameron came up one by one to order food. Rafe being the last
Rafe was a year older than you. You didn’t go to school with him and only saw him at parties snorting a line. It be a lie to say you didn’t think he had grown more attractive by the minute but it also be a lie to say he ever crossed your mind. Until tonight.
Rafe walked to the counter his head hung low obviously regretting his families decision to come into a Pogue ran restaurant than wait the storm out in the car. But as he reached you his scowl adorned face softened. The hue of his eyes lightened to the different color blues than the black he wore mere seconds ago
He paused eyes running across you for what felt like a century. Rafe didn’t know you. If he ever saw you before there’s a chance he’d mix you up with 50 other girls yet he stared at you like you were one in a billion.
“Can I get your number?”
