a buddy of mine told me a couple hours ago that, personality wise, berdly deltarune would be the perfect sanuso fankid. and after my horror at such a statement subsided, i realized that they were (unfortunately) kinda spitting, so i drew this.

he’s just like them fr except he inherited very few of their redeeming qualities and/or talents and also he’s a fucking bird

I always forget I can just draw him with different clothes and hairstyles. Anyway am I the only one who thinks it would be cool if usopp wore his suspenders over shirts sometimes like he used to do with his overalls pre timeskip

Usopp packing damn near his entire house when he went to leave Syrup is silly and cute and shows his sentimentality but hey haha hey what if after Banchina died one of the ways Usopp dragged himself out of his grief was to do that thing where you personify your possessions and promise them you’ll use them in order to trick your brain into finding motivation to do things. And so part of the reason he was so attached to all that crap is because he’d spent years hauling himself out of his extreme depression by promising his dishes he’d cook breakfast every day for a week, and promising his boots they’d go for a hike, and promising his easels he wouldn’t leave them blank. And so in a lot of ways Usopp’s attachment to things and seeing them as companions and even friends was a survival skill as much as it was a habit he picked up way before the Merry.

Haha hey on that note how much of the stuff he brought from Syrup do you think got destroyed or misplaced or otherwise ruined from the Straw Hats various misadventures by the time they made it to Water 7. Do you think there was much left. Do you think Merry might have been the only thing.

It’s kind of impressive how far I could milk this actually. The dishes the hats ate off of their first couple weeks on the Merry being the same dishes Usopp and his mom ate off of and all of those same dishes being shattered in the first real storm the Hats sail through, before they learned what it meant to really secure their possessions. Sanji brought his own knives and such but the kitchen was already stocked with a worn collection of pots and pans and he doesn’t think anything of tossing and replacing them with industrial sized cookware he needs to keep up with the crew’s appetites. Most of the bedding was pulled directly out of Usopp’s linen closet and over time things get torn or stained or lit on fire that one time and Usopp slowly watches all his memories of blanket forts and cozy winter nights and his mom’s home-cooked meals be chucked out like trash because. That’s what it is right? It’s all just junk. The Straw Hats have no reason to hold on to a bunch of useless old scrap. That’s what happens to things that serve no purpose, after all — they get thrown away, and everybody moves on with their lives.
