“You shouldn’t self-ID as ADHD/autistic, you’re turning a very real mental condition into a trend” Ok then stop saying delulu. Stop speculating on which cluster C personality disorder the criminals you hear about on the news have. Stop saying “schizoposting” and “acoustic” and “is it restarted?” Stop using “psycopath” and “sociopath” as catch-all ways of calling someone a bad person. Stop saying “the intrusive thoughts won” when you bleach your hair and then turn your nose up at people who suffer from very real, very scary urges of physical/sexual violence. Stop saying “I’m so OCD” as a way of calling yourself neat. Stop treating BPD/ASPD/Bipolar as inherently abusive. Stop saying “OP I am living in your walls” without tagging for unreality. Stop diagnosing complete strangers you’ve never met on r/AITA with NPD.
You first. If you don’t want our disabilities to be treated like trends then stop belittling and minimising them. I’ll NEVER judge a person for trying find labels for their symptoms when an apathetic, racist, sexist, ableist healthcare system refuses to. But I will absolutely judge a hypocrite. Which a lot of you are

Edwin Abbott Abbott's Flatland deals heavily with the mistreatment of women in Victorian society, how they were relegated to second class citizens and seen as hysterical, violent and unintelligent by the men, especially of higher castes. He died about 9 years before the invention of the lobotomy, I kinda wanna hear what he'd have to say about it. Flatland 2: This Time We're Doing Neurosurgery on Women to Make Them More Agreeable

The opposite of “manic pixie dream girl” is “depressed goblin nightmare man,” and, judging by this site, it’s just as attractive to some.

Bex's Gravity Falls Backstory
This is before I met her, btw. ~*~
Time: Right before Society of the Blind Eye Year: 2012 in-world; 2016 in the Real World
Two young people in their twenties stood at the approach to the Mystery Shack. They both had the same dark brown hair, same grey-blue eyes, and same shade of pale skin. They were also dressed similarly— shorts, boots, in a combination of blues and blacks. However, one was female and the other male.
The boy looked at the girl and said, “We really should talk to him first….”
The girl scoffed and scrunched her face up, not looking at him. “Ugh, I dunno…”
“Beeeeex….” The boy stopped, dropping his bag from his shoulder and jabbed his chin at her. His wide-eyed stare stopping her in her place.
Bex looked back at him and quirked an eyebrow. He hummed at her and eventually she relented. “Fine! I’ll play it by the book.”
The boy nodded proudly and they continued towards the Mystery Shack doorway, along with other tourists. “I hate you sometimes…” Bex mumbled.
They paid their fee and blended into the tourist’s group for the tour. Both of them acted the part, viewing the exhibits, ooing and awing, but secretly they were giggling at the ridiculousness of some of them. At the end of the tour they entered the gifted shop and Bex picked up a few items. She really wanted some of these—her companion just rolled his eyes, but secretly enjoyed her enthusiasm. While Bex was looking at the hats, she felt someone approach behind her with a “SO!”
She jumped in the air before spinning around to see the tour guide Stan. He grinned, and she could tell he was in his selling mode. His eyebrows wiggled as he continued, “Looking for anything in particular?”
Bex was about to say no, but then she glanced at her companion. “Actually, I was hoping Dipper was around….” She said. Stan quirked an eyebrow, rubbing his chin. “Wha, you two friends of his?”
“Ah, yeah, something like that,” Bex said, beginning to clench her jaw. Her companion leapt in. “Is he around? We need to talk to him.”
Instead of going to get Dipper, Stan cupped his hand, turned his head upwards and yelled, “DIPPER! GET DOWN HERE! THERE’S SOMEONE TO SEE YOU!” Bex and her companion covered their ears.
“There, he should be down soon! Now…
“Do you want those gift wrapped?”
After paying for their things, Bex and her companion were shooed out of the store, since it was “only for paying customers.” Never mind the fact that they did indeed pay.
Bex didn’t complain, and they settled on the porch around back, so as not to disturb any new tourists that wanted to come into the museum. While they waited, they opened the things they bought and played around. When the door opened they both turned to see a young twelve-year-old boy come out. Bex recognized him instantly, just as she had Stan.
Dipper, looked around the porch, finding them, then nervously regarded them. He seemed wary, as he still clutched the door handle. “Uhhh…you wanted to see me?”
Bex figured she should do something to make him feel better and decided to introduce herself. “So, I’m Bex and this is Caida…and this is kinda awkward….” She rubbed at the back of her neck. “So, I’m just gonna come out and say it—
“We’re making sure you know we’re here in your world, Domain Leader.”
Dipper gasped, stepping back. “H-how did you know ab—” Then he froze, and seemed to take another hard look at the two of them. “Wait! You’re—”
Bex grinned, glancing at Caida. “Yeeeahhh….?”
“You’re Author Beings! In Gravity Falls!” Dipper threw his caution away and finally joined them on the porch. “EEEEEE! I’m so excited! Author Beings in Gravity Falls!”
Bex immediately clapped her hands over Dipper’s mouth, glancing around to make sure no one else heard that. “Really?” she said eyeing him. “Didn’t anyone tell you to keep it secret if a realworlder enters your domain?!” Then under her breath she added, “Especially with…him.”
Dipper looked sheepish, not showing if he registered the last part. “Right, yes,” he cleared his throat, straightening and adopting a forced maturity. He continued with more care of his volume, “What does a couple of Author Beings need in Gravity Falls?”
Caida came to Bex’s side, jabbing a thumb at her. “Technically it’s just Bex who’s an Author.”
Bex rolled her eyes. “We just stopped by to make sure you know we’re here, like I said. There’s…something we have to do.”
Dipper eyed them both, looking concerned. “Is something wrong?” Then with renewed excitement, “Something I need to know about?”
“I…” Bex winced. If she told him he’d want to come with them, and if he came with them, there was a chance he’d get hurt. “Uh, I mean…not really.”
Dipper looked absolutely deflated.
“Tell you what though,” she said, “You can be our contact okay? We’re going up into the mountains and forest, and there’s obviously not a lot of people out there. If we get into trouble that we can’t handle and need help, we’ll come to you.”
Dipper gasped, “y-yeah! Okay! How are you gonna call me if you need help? You have a phone number or something?”
“I do, but I was thinking something more…magical.” She smirked pointing to her head. She reached out, touching his mind with her powers, and said, We’ll call you.
Dipper gasped, looking around, and then back at her. Both Bex and Caida were grinning. “You..uh, how’d you do that?” he asked.
“Maybe I’ll teach you when we’re back this way,” Bex teased, reaching for her things to gather them up. “Oh, and remember to tell your sister about us—you guys are a package deal after all.”
Dipper nodded, still hoping for more information, but had to settle with what he got. He insisted they give him their number in case HE had to tell them something anyway. So, Bex and Caida exchanged their cell phone numbers with Dipper, just in case. Then of course, Mabel appeared—having eavesdropped on everything—and made sure they had plenty of snacks for their hike. After all was said and done, they had enough sugary snacks to last weeks, and Bex and Caida thanked them before practically sneaking out the door. They waved as they started up the trail towards the woods and mountains.
Bex felt oddly giddy at the interaction, and Caida looked smug. “Fine, you were right,” she admitted. Caida was pleased with that. “By the way, Galahad says she’s found a spot and wasn’t spotted,” Bex added, “I can find her by tracing the ship’s energy aura.”
Caida however looked lost in thought. “You think we’ll be able to find these anomalies on our own?” Caida asked, pulling out a hand-held instrument from his bag—one that glowed with magical light.
“Of course!” Bex said, though Caida shot her a suspicious look. “Okay, fine, I’m not sure. I’m confident we’ll be okay finding them, but dealing with ‘em might be tricky with my…”
“Depression?” Caida offered.
Bex stomped her foot. “You don’t have to say it so easily!” she whined, “I know I’m just coming off of a bad period in my life, but I don’t wanna be reminded of it!”
“Sorry…”Caida looked genuinely concerned, fiddling with his device.
Bex softened, grabbing his shirt sleeve so he’d stop and turn towards her. “It’s not you, Caida…it’s me. I just don’t wanna go back there. If my powers are to ever get back to what they were before, then I’ll need your help.” Caida smiled warmly at her. He was a quiet sort, but Bex could tell what he was thinking even without words. “Besides, this domain has been helping too!” she added, picking up the pace to into the woods again. “I feel relaxed in Gravity Falls, I think it’ll help heal me.”
“Let’s hope,” Caida agreed, “cause dealing with Krocus has always been tough…let’s hope just the two of us are enough.”

a while back i posted this drawing of a hypothetical superpowered form for Mabel. well, around the same time i drew these little comics of how that ties in with the Friendship AU, and today i finally went back to color the last part, so i felt like sharing this!
basically it’s like, Bill doesn’t have his reality warping powers in real life anymore, but lucid dreaming works pretty much exactly the same way. so he and Mabel start using that spell from Dreamscaperers to hang out in the mindscape together. that three-eyed magical form is basically a sona Mabel designed because Bill pointed out she could change her appearance in the mindscape if she wanted, and she wanted to look cool, but a giant rainbow dragon-kitten was too big a departure to start out with.
Mabel’s not as good at bending the “reality” of the mindscape to her will as Bill is; he’s spent eons doing it, and there’s a lot of things about it that are a lot harder than you’d think. if you don’t do it right, things won’t work the way you wanted, unwanted subconscious elements can crop up, and the dream scenario can fall apart or even turn dangerous. so Bill starts teaching Mabel his methods, mostly just to brag and feel superior. but it turns out she’s REALLY good at this stuff. she picks it up SUPER fast, way faster than Bill did. her vivid imagination and boundless willpower let her create whole worlds from nothing but a thought.
Bill never wanted to have a kid. he resented the idea of “passing the torch”, or “hiring your replacement” as he calls it. but before all this, he’d never watched somebody he’d been teaching and guiding just absolutely shine as they use the skills he taught them, as a universe of possibilities shines before them. he never thought he’d get to see all existence through new eyes again.
it just hits different, is all.
