That Ranpo knew something was up about Dazai’s past. But knew he wasn’t a threat and so he didn’t push him on it or tell anyone.

That Dazai figured out Ranpo’s ability wasn’t real and that’s why he was so impressed by him. Because Ranpo being Ranpo was more incredible than any sort of gift.

The intrigue and the trust one moment carries that they continue to carry years down the later that never wavers.
