Reblogging from my sideblog! I am still so proud of this research and particularly with what is happening in the US right now I feel it is even more important that projects like the one I worked on, with research focused on systems to support autistic people rather than trying to "cure" autism, happen.

I'm really pleased and proud to say I can finally share with you all my first ever project as a researcher! I finished this project in January but due to mock exams and then my real exams I haven't been able to post about it.

A local organisation were running a project where young people had the chance to run their own research projects into systems they had experience with in the local area that they thought needed to be improved and to be supported through this by professional researchers.

I am so privileged to have been involved in this and I still can't believe I can say my first paid job was as a research scientist when that is my dream job!

My research question was: What support do autistic young people (aged 16-25) in my county want from schools?

With a specific focus on :

Meltdowns, shutdowns and burnout

Interaction with other neurodivergent young people

I won't share my county or the organisation that I ran the research with as I want to keep safe online however I will share my research presentation of all my findings and recommendations with this information removed.

This project means a lot to me and I hope it will have an impact on other autistic young people too.

I was walking through the toy aisle at Target when I found this thing and had a VIOLENT AND IMMEDIATE FLASHBACK to when JP first came out and they had a bunch of REALLY COOL T Rex toys that I would have sold one of my scrawny small-child limbs for but my mother wouldn’t get me one because they were “too violent and also ate people” :(

Finally had the desire to make little collages/wallpapers for a singer.

I have been in the 5sos fandom for a while so I've seen wallpapers of them and their logo is my lockscreen but I feel like maybe I get it more now with Nick from the Wrecks.

I am so excited for the next half of the album!!

I feel like most of the Wrecks fans on tumblr aren't active anymore but I want to post about them anyway...

To celebrate the end of exams I had a Wrecks concert at home (watched this recorded set on full volume through my speakers and danced)

I tried to upload a short video of the set for the vibes but it's not working so I'll edit it in later

I also covered a few of their songs, the above 2 are probably my favourites right now and then this one is really fun to sing

Now I'm finally on my gap year I thought of this song today. I think since my first burnout I've been relearning how to find joy in small things and I hope now I can finally take a proper break for a while and remember what that feels like.

Also I'm pleased with the piano on this one.
