The Sick, The Sad, and the Shower
~The Sick, The Sad, and the Shower~Optional Bias Imagine
A/N so I know I literally just posted a few hours ago about how I might delete this blog and I’m gonna say right here and now I’m still seriously debating doing that, I just finally worked up the ability to post that because today’s been really crappy and no me waking up tomorrow feeling better will not change my thoughts on the subject I have been seriously debating this for months now I’m just not super in control of my emotions or impulses today so that message finally got posted. Second, as far as this goes it’s the one idea I’ve had recently that I actually really want to pursue mostly because this day has really sucked and I really need to write this and it’s something I think a lot of us can relate to and so I want to at least get it out there just in case someone out there needs it as much as I do. Third, this was written literally all today I started at 7:15 pm Thursday, May 16, 2019 HST and I will post the completion time at the end in short this is gonna suck real bad I’m sorry. Fourth, this also does mean whatever decision I come to regarding my blog it will be up for a while longer so y’all have a chance to try and convince me to do otherwise as one such person has already tried you know who you are you’re an angel and I love you. (Quick hint one really easy way to make sure this blog doesn’t get deleted comment on my stories and tell me you appreciate them or if you don’t want to do that for whatever reason you may or may not have message me/send me an ask I don’t bite I literally get a message scream and freak out for a bit because omg ahh and then I freak out cause I don’t know how to respond I’m just that freaking awkward and anxious you cannot be any more scared to talk to me than I am of talking to you jk that’s a lie we all have different issues and I’m not going to say mine are the worst out there cause that is the biggest falsehood to ever exist) That concludes my really dumb commentary, for now, enjoy this little piece of crap or don’t it’s up to you. Also apologies for this really long mess, it’s cause I’m a mess and don’t know when to shut up. You probably skipped all of this though so I don’t know why I’m apologizing no big deal I would’ve skipped it too, so yeah now I’m really done.
Description: In case you don’t want to read the crappy long story I’m about to put before you here’s a crappy really short summary of what goes down. You’re sick, you’re sad, and you’re in the shower. Then the love of your life your boyfriend/bias/literal angel from on high whom you adore comes home and finds you sick, sad, and in the shower. He shares with you some loving words of wisdom semi-equivalent to shut up, I love you, now let me hug you. In the end, you’re still sick, but now you’re out of the shower and a little less sad because you’ve got a really attractive really amazing boyfriend who supports you and loves you even when you feel absolutely terrible. Congrats now you don’t have to read the story, or if you’re really curious about how this all plays out you can read it anyway. It’ll be just as crappy but a little more heartwarming...I hope...
Genre: It’s a genre all on its own called crappy tales from this random fanfic author, alternatively its fluff with some angst which should be obvious since sad is in the title but none of its good
Warnings: Honestly feel like this category should move up because so far my biggest warning is I’m feeling really pessimistic so all of my commentaries are really salty and bitter and pessimistic I apologize for that it’s just how the day has gone and I can’t find the strength to not behave like a petty and misbehaving child. Otherwise, there shouldn’t be any warnings other than like you’re really down about stuff in the beginning really struggling so if that’s gonna make you feel really down or something don’t read. Otherwise, yeah you should be good but I am not all knowing so if there is something in here that triggers you I apologize right now please let me know so I can warn you in the future if there is one.

(Not my gif, I will be telling you this until the day this blog and/or I die whichever comes first, credit to whoever owns it don’t know who and if that upsets you fight me)
It had been a long day a really long day full of work and practice and so much other stuff. He was exhausted by the time he got back to the apartment he shared with you the love of his life and his partner. He wanted nothing more than to cuddle up with you on the couch and fall asleep wrapped together with you while you watched literally anything on the tv screen.
He tossed down his keys and shrugged off his jacket and slid off his shoes putting on the comforting house slippers all the while wondering where in this apartment you could be. Usually, at this time of the evening, you were laying on the couch wrapped in a blanket reading a book or watching a tv show or a movie or doing something in the kitchen. Long story short you were usually in the main entrance of the apartment but then again you’d been sick for the past few days so you were probably holed up in the bedroom. He figured he was right when he heard the soft echo of what was undoubtedly a really loud cough. He sighed worried for you and set down the bag of groceries on the counter and then quickly put them away before going to find and check on you. He walked deeper into the apartment following your coughing and getting sadder with every cough he heard, they all sounded pretty miserable, and he’d be right they well and truly sucked. Then he heard the sound of running water and realized you must be taking a shower. He nodded softly to himself relaxing slightly since he knew you were at the very least taking care of yourself. Nonetheless, he walked up to the door to check on you anyway.
“Hey, baby, just letting you know I’m home. Are you feeling any better today?” He asked after knocking lightly on the door to signal his presence. You heard him, faintly, but you still heard him and a small, very tiny, minuscule little smile grew on your face. Good god how you adored him.
“I’m gonna be completely honest and say no if anything I feel worse,” You responded trying to get your strained voice heard over the water and through the door. For a second you almost laughed at the though over the water and through the door, it reminded you of the children’s song to Grandmother’s house we go, it was such a dumb thing to think of you almost laughed until another cough tore through you.
He frowned after hearing your response and the dreadful cough and at how strained your voice sounded. “Baby, are you crying?” He asked as softly as he could while making sure he could still be heard by you.
“No,” You answered quickly. His silence in response let you know that he didn’t believe you. “Fine, yes, I’m crying, today just really sucked ya know,” You replied no longer hiding the sobs that were racing through you and mixing with the agonizing coughs.
“It’s okay baby, I know,” He replied kindly, “Well, I don’t know exactly, but I’ve had my fair share of bad days so I can empathize, not perfectly mind you but I get the feeling,” He said stumbling over his words a little bit. He was smart and kind you’d give him that, but he wasn’t always the most eloquent speaker especially when he was worried. It was okay though you loved him and everyone struggles with speaking sometimes. There were some days when you just had to wonder if you could really consider yourself fluent in your native language because you just couldn’t seem to get it right all day. That’s off topic though. “Baby, I really want to help you and be there for you, but it’s really hard to talk to you through this door, can I come in? Only if you’re okay with it though,” He asked a moment later. You nodded softly before realizing he did not have x-ray vision and could not see the very small movement of your head which was currently resting up against the shower wall.
“Yes, you can come in,” You answered after your little realization that as wonderful as he is your lover does not have superpowers. You heard the door open and then close again as he came into the bathroom.
He stopped moving and leaned against a wall facing away from the shower so as to not make you uncomfortable. “Do you want to talk about what’s making you cry?” He asked gently.
“I don’t really know, there’s so much, I mean I guess it’s mostly cause I’m sick and in pain...” You began slowly trying to work out your own emotions while you talked to him. “No, it’s more than that,” You realized as you thought back to why you’re really crying because as far as pain goes your throat didn’t hurt that bad and your head didn’t hurt that bad either it just sucked and was annoying and wasn’t great, but it wasn’t tear worthy either. Then it all fell into place and you realized what was making you so tear up and cry, for what was likely the fifth time today. “I’m just tired, so damn tired.”
“Of?” He prompted, knowing you weren’t just talking about not getting enough sleep.
“Of everything, of responsibilities, of being sick, of hurting, of having to go to class, and work, and having to do homework, I just I need to rest like really rest but I can’t and it sucks and it hurts and it’s exhausting and I can’t take it anymore,” You explained the tears starting a new.
“Why can’t you rest?” He questioned trying to figure out what was going on so he could help you.
“Because I have responsibilities, I can’t just drop everything and sail away no matter how much I want to,” You replied before breaking out into another coughing fit.
“Can I give you a hug?” He asked suddenly perplexing you for a moment, “Don’t think too much about it just answer the question, can I give you a hug?” He added a moment later knowing you had just started overthinking all of that even though there wasn’t even much to think about.
“Yes, I would love a hug, right now,” You replied and the next thing you knew he was standing in front of you still fully dressed and holding you in his arms. You hugged him back quickly and started crying into him.
“Babe, stop thinking right now, just stop thinking about what you should or shouldn’t do, what you can or can’t do, who you want to be and who you should be, for now just focus on this moment and who you are right now. Focus on my voice and the feel of my clothes, focus on the sound of the water and the feel of it as it hits you, focus on the feel of your hair and your feet against the tile, just focus on the now. Think about who you are, you are amazing and wonderful and strong and hardworking. You have graduated from high school, last semester you had perfect attendance in all of your classes, you’ve been doing amazing work at your job, hell you got promoted. Focus on that for a bit,” He instructed gently as he whispered into your ear. You did as he said and fell into the moment fell into his grip.
“Love, you’re trying so hard and you want so much to be the perfect daughter, perfect student, perfect employee, perfect lover, hell the perfect person. You think you should be all of these and you want to be all of these and while that’s great and it’s wonderful and admirable, but darling it’s unrealistic. No one can or will be perfect and no one should expect you to be perfect if they do drop them like the biodegradable piece of trash they are and then kick them off into the sunset where you never have to think about them ever again.” He said getting slightly off topic.
“Taking one day off to rest and recuperate so you can get healthy isn’t going to ruin everything. You won’t be disappointing your parents if you skip one day of classes, I know for a fact that your parents adore you and are so immensely proud of you and nothing will change that in fact they will only grow to love you more and be proud of you more because you’re going to do amazing things, but you have to be healthy and strong to do those things. Your grades will not plummet past the point of no return if you take one day and miss a few assignments so you can make sure you put your best work forward. Yes, you should at least attempt to do your homework because doing it poorly is better than not doing it at all even a 3% is better than a zero. Don’t argue you can’t math is always right 3 is greater than zero.” He continued still holding you close.
“Finally, your job and employer and co-workers will understand, your health is more important than getting a paycheck and your health is just straight up more important. You cannot be perfect and one day of rest will not ruin everything.” He concluded giving you a tight squeeze. “You are amazing and I love you and you can take a day to take care of yourself the world will not end.”
“Thank you babe,” You replied softly already feeling at least a little better if only evidenced by the halting of your tears.
“Now come on let’s finish getting you cleaned up and out of this shower, then while you get changed I’ll cook us up some soup and set up the couch so we can lay down, cuddle, and binge watch anything you want. Then we’ll go to bed and tomorrow, we’ll spend the day resting and relaxing, and I will take the best care of you,” He said lifting your chin up with his finger so you’d look into his kind eyes which were staring at you with so much love you nearly started crying again.
“You’re an angel, you know that?” You asked gently.
“I do now, now how clean did you actually get in this shower before you were incapacitated by the agony of responsibility and trying to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders?” He replied with a smile.
“Oh shut up and get out of here, I can finish showering on my own,” You replied smacking his chest lightly.
“Aww but I wanted to dote on you and treat you like royalty,” He replied with a little pout. You shoved him lightly and he smiled before leaving the shower and letting you finish up in the shower. As you did he threw your favorite pair of pajamas, a pair of fuzzy socks, and a blanket into the dryer to warm them up a bit for your enjoyment.
Once you were out of the shower and had dried off he supplied you with the recently warmed items and then went to take his own shower since he was already wet anyway.
You found the soup already heating on the stove and a mountain of blankets and pillows and treats set up in the living room after you got changed into your delightfully warm pajamas. You smiled gently and stirred the soup a little before going to sit on the couch. If he wanted to take care of you, you sure as hell weren’t going to stop him. Especially since you still felt like death itself had climbed in a semi-truck hit you, backed up over you, exited the vehicle stomped on your face, and then stuffed your ears full of random crap lying around.
He was very glad to see you bundled up and relaxing on the couch when he finished with his shower and getting changed and then he quickly went over to dish up your soup and his own and then joined you on the couch with the two bowls and a couple of spoons.
Hours later you were both peacefully passed out on the couch the tv still playing in the background and your dishes haphazardly discarded on the little table in front of the couch with gentle smiles resting on both of your faces. You were truly grateful to have someone in your life who loved you as much as he did, through all your ups and downs.
The next day he kept his word and stayed home all day with you, took care of you, and relaxed. That day you found that without a doubt, love and laughter truly are the best remedies, well that and of course your friendly neighborhood medicine.
A/N Completed at 8:49 pm Thursday night on May 16, 2019 HST Hope this helps you as much as it helped me today. Lots of love guys and take care of yourselves, your health is so important and your responsibilities can wait as long as you need them to so that you can get better.

So, I got bored and someone provided me with a template so I made this thing and I wasn’t going to share it until I had these three thoughts.
1) I’ve been super inactive on this account for a while now so here’s at least something for anyone who still cares.
2) It might get someone to actually talk to me which would be great in case you haven’t seen all my posts begging you to talk to me.
3) This might help with requests because this also doubles as a list of groups I will write for.

I hear a lot of people bitching that they can’t leave kudos multiple times per story, or can’t leave kudos on every chapter, or whatever.
Well, take a page out of this marvelous book, because I swear I’ve never been so happy to receive kudos as waking up to multiple people having done this on multiple chapters on a story I just posted.
The bar just got raised, folks.

Icarus and the Sea
~Icarus and the Sea~NCT!Soulmate Au Part 3: Final Part
Parts out: Part 1// Part 1.5// Thanksgiving Special// Part 2// Part 2.5// Part 3 (You are here, congratulations you made it!!)
A/N so here we are last part of the series. Sorry it took so long finals were hell and I had zero motivation, but luckily my slump did not last for a whole year or two this time! Please comment and talk to me!! It really helps keep me motivated to know people actually read this crap and like it. I’m more likely to write if you talk to me in comments or asks. Plus, I may just have zero ideas sometimes and you requesting something could be the only way I’ll write for a while. So if you want imagines and crap then talk to me. I know this sounds like I’m just being a jerk but it’s not fun to write things that no one will read...or write things and feel like no one’s reading them. Anyways part 3 the final part!!
Description: He was the sun and she was the moon and they were soulmates. Which was both a blessing and a curse. She needed his light and warmth and he needed her to reflect it back to him, but they were ever so distant, both unable to truly reach each other. He reached out for her every way he could, but only in his darkest moments could she ever be found.
Genre: Fluff, this one is pretty much entirely fluff
Warnings: Cursing minor but like it’s there, mentions of suicide again, but I think that’s it unless you have something against coffee or sunflowers or something
Word count: 8054 words
(Y/c/N) means your choice of names I was too lazy to give Taeil’s sister an actual name so you get this instead
Also I tried to put in a read more button tag thing but if it didn’t work I’m not gonna try and fix it because I’ve tried before and it’s never worked and I’m lazy af.
(Not my gif again!!! Do I need to keep telling you this??)
Despite everything that had happened that night nothing changed the next day, nothing changed for a while...
When she woke up again, after he got her to go back to sleep, she had two messages one on her skin from him and the other a text from Chenle. The message on her arm was written in red ink and read "Hey, cinnamon, just gonna be totally honest with you, because all the best relationships are built on trust and communication, I know Chenle and I heard your thoughts about him the other night and I may have told him that he knew you and he totally figured it out, no I didn't ask him to help me meet you or anything because I know you're not quite ready for that but if you ever did want to meet up or get my number Chenle has it, or you can ask me yourself, I'll wait for you as long as I need to," She smiled at his thoughtfulness and his honesty before checking the text from Chenle though she now had an idea of what it may be about.
After reading through the text and talking with Chenle a bit she responded to her soulmate with ink on her arm and then went out to find Taeyong, today they needed each other. "Tae," She said as she lightly knocked on his door. "Yeah?" He responded from inside his room in a soft broken voice and she sighed knowing whatever sleep he had gotten had been sparse and unfulfilling. He'd likely spent most of the night crying and she knew exactly what it was about, or at least she thought she did. Then again he had thought he'd understood the issue before last night as well. "Can I come in?" She asked softly leaning against the door with her shoulder. She wasn't about to just barge in no matter how much she knew he needed someone. She still had to respect his privacy and choices no matter how much she may want to just go in and sit with him. "Yeah, it's unlocked," he responded causing her to sigh in relief before pushing open the door. She found him sitting on the floor beside his bed staring sadly at the phone in his hand a few pictures scattered on the floor around him, sticky notes and cards thrown into the mix forming a semicircle of memories around him, but there was just enough room beside him for one more person. "I heard you crying last night, do you want to talk about it?" She asked softly as she sat beside him on the ground keeping her eyes on her dear older brother instead of the items on the ground although her curiosity was piqued. He picked a photo up off the ground and frowned at it before answering her. "Not really, not right now," He responded simply and she nodded in understanding and decided for now she'd just give him company and maybe a little bit of distraction. "So, it turns out my soulmate knows Chenle," She said starting to talk about her night instead, choosing to start with the happy before informing him of the panic attack she'd had last night. It would only stress him out if she didn't cushion the blow. "How'd you find that out," He asked and she showed him her arm and the red ink with the blue response below it. "What were you thinking of?" Taeyong asked gently curious as to what her soulmate meant when he said I heard your thoughts and how that had possibly led to the knowledge of having a mutual friend. "Well, I had a panic attack last night and woke him up on accident, we started talking and he told me he'd stop talking with me, stop writing to me if it was hurting me, I told him not to stop and started to think about how I just needed more people in my life who honestly love me and care, like you, Renjun, Jeno, and Chenle," She answered simply and he nodded well aware of his little sister's panic attacks. "I got a snapchat from my roommate," Taeyong answered suddenly opening up to her, now that she had shared he decided it was his turn. "He was asking me where I was and if I was coming back," Taeyong continued and set his phone down between the two of them. "Was she in it?" She questioned softly and he shook his head creating an immense confusion within her. He'd been upset about her, about losing her too his roommate, hadn't he? "Nope, I'm starting to think it might not be her I was upset about," Taeyong replied noticing her very obvious confusion, it was after all written all over her face, "I think I've been lying to myself about a lot of things for a long time," He added not able to look up at his younger sister or meet her eyes instead of looking at another photo and then another. "Honestly, it makes more sense the longer I think about it this way, the longer I look at these photos, notes, and cards, I always got way to upset when he had company over, he was the kind to sleep around while waiting/looking for his soulmate and I was always so upset about it, I hated seeing the black handprint on his arm. Don't get me wrong, I loved her but more like I grew to love things about her and grew to see her as a wonderful person and a dear friend but I didn't ever love her, I think I was just dating her because I knew he wasn't my soulmate and I loved him anyway and now that he's found her...I don't think I can ever go back to that room. My life has effectively turned into that one MV you know for the K.Will song, please don't I think," Taeyong continued sadly and she nodded, "But I can't keep staying in this house, not with auntie getting drunk every day and cursing everyone and everything. There's a reason I moved out in the first place..." "What if you and I moved out, we could leave today, move in with Jeno or Chenle for a bit until we found a new place to stay?" She suggested suddenly thinking back to her thoughts the other night about her aunt and the endless desire for at least a little more normalcy. She needed out of this house as much as her brother did, maybe even more. This house was weighing down on them both in more ways than one. She didn't think she'd ever be willing to meet her soulmate if she stayed in this house... "You should probably ask Jeno or Chenle if they're ok with that first," Taeyong replied, "but otherwise, I'm down with that idea." "I think it might help me feel more comfortable about having a soulmate too, without hearing her cursing hers every 20 seconds," She added after a moment of silence between them, "I really do want to meet him, I'm just not ready yet and this will help." "You love him don't you?" Taeyong asked smiling gently at the young girl, it was refreshing to see her opening up a bit more, it was like watching a caterpillar crawl from its cocoon and become this beautiful butterfly. "No, not yet, I'm still too scared to love him, I don't think I can love him like really love him until he's no longer the sun in my eyes, cause if I keep believing he's the sun, I'll always be too afraid to burn," She replied looking up at the morning sun shining over them. "I agree, I think you need to stop putting him on the same level as the sun, but not because of that, I don't think you need to be afraid to burn, our whole family is and so they won't ever love again, I think they and the world would tell you that failure is ugly and painful that loss and falling and burning are horrid and despicable things, but I think they're wrong, I think there's something almost triumphant in falling instead of flying knowing you had the courage when everyone screamed no and there's something beautiful about fire even when you're in the middle of it," Taeyong replied shaking his head, he'd never told her this but he'd always believed it, it was why he wanted her to love, why he wanted to love, because he knew now even with how his heart ached at his handsome roommate who had met his soulmate in a beautiful girl. Even with how tears slipped down his cheeks at the sight of his pouting face asking him when he'd come back the black mark on his arm now a rainbow of color against his pale skin. "You're right though, he's not the sun, because from what I know he would never burn you, never be so distant and harsh, but don't be afraid to love him even if he was," Taeyong concluded finally looking her in the eyes. If anyone was the sun it was his roommate, or ex-roommate now. She nodded in understanding she knew if he really was the sun and she was the one flying towards him there was more beauty about that than just the sun and more than just the tragedy of falling and even that wasn't always a tragedy if you looked at it just right. She knew he was right that she should just give love a chance because even if she did fall and burn and tumbled from the heavens as an ungraceful ball of fire at least she flew at least she had the courage to leap and she'll leave her mark on the boy, literally, she won't ever be forgotten, maybe she'll be able to smile as she falls or laugh as she drowns in the oceans below. It was a lesson her soulmate had always been trying to teach her with the endless drawings on her skin that there is beauty in everything even intense pain. "Well that was a great heart to heart, but I'm hungry and it's your turn to make breakfast," She said pulling him up with her gently and thinking of the game of Uno she'd won last night before she'd gone to sleep and before the panic and before she told him she'd buy him coffee. A smile drew itself on her face at the thought of Uno and the words she'd written. It was the closest she'd gotten to telling him she loved him until the reply she wrote on her arm this morning. Unbeknownst to her, he would argue that both of those had said I love you, even if they didn't use the words.
He had a heart attack when he read the words she'd written him in blue ink. He fell off the couch he was lounging on and squealed and flailed around after reading the words because oh god his soulmate was just so adorable and oh my god look what she wrote. His heart was pounding in excitement and his cheeks were heating up with a blush at how adorable and sweet his soulmate really was. Taeil came rushing from the kitchen in panic at the noises and his sister ran in with Chenle close on her heels having just opened the door to let him in when the commotion had begun. "Are you ok?" Taeil questioned but as soon as he saw the young man rolling on the floor in absolute delight utterly overwhelmed by how cute his soulmate is Taeil sighed left the room and returned to cooking breakfast for the now five of them. "Was it her? What did she write?" Chenle asked excitedly he'd been secretly shipping these two for years now, despite the fact they'd never met, and he was so thrilled by any news of his 2nd otp which followed closely behind his true otp, him and his soulmate. Chenle watched in anticipation as his older friend sat up and smiled at him with the dorkiest grin he'd ever seen. "She's so cute," His older friend muttered softly a rosy tint on his cheeks and his eyes alight with joy. "She wrote, 'Hey sugar, thanks for your honesty, Chenle informed me of this interesting situation, thank you for being so understanding, I'll try not to make you wait too long,' and then there's a winky face, she called me sugar I'm dead, I'm so dead, funeral is at 3 o'clock," His older friend said with this wacky smile spread out on his face. "You two are such cheesy dorks," Taeil's sister said shaking her head as she chuckled softly sitting on a nearby armchair and smiling softly. "Has she been texting you then?" He asked looking up intently at Chenle who nodded and showed him the texts from earlier this morning. "Aww, she wanted to know if I was cute, she's adorable, wait what do you mean number four I am so cute!" He said as he read along with the texts looking up at Chenle perplexed and momentarily distracted. "Yeah, but my soulmate is the cutest, I'm the second cutest, and Jisung is the third cutest, Jeno would have had four but he's not funny so I knocked him down a peg," Chenle responded with a shrug and his soulmate blushed slightly at his words though she pretended she wasn't listening by scrolling through her phone looking at photos of her and Chenle. "Where's my soulmate on that list?" He asked looking up at the younger boy slightly offended because his soulmate was adorable and he had evidence. "Not on it, cause it'd be weird she's like an older sister to me," Chenle responded shaking his head at the older boy who was now crouched on the ground holding the phone like Gollum holding the ring, "A really dorky older sister who has like 5% of her life together on a good day," Chenle added thinking about the older girl who was quite a wreck, but still very kind. "Breakfast is ready," Taeil called from the kitchen and so they quickly went over and joined him in the kitchen. A while later they were gathered in the living room watching movies together when Chenle let out a soft, "Oh my god, what?" as he stared down at his phone. His soulmate leaned over and read the texts from his shoulder before letting out a little gasp and a slight smirk too. "Boy, you might actually have a really good chance of getting to meet her," Chenle said looking over towards the other non-moon sibling in the room. "Wait, what? What's happening?" He said his head shooting up from staring at his arm and the message from earlier excited by the potential news about his lovely soulmate. "She's moving out of her aunt's house," Chenle responded calmly a little too calmly for his liking, but he said nothing of the issue. "Really?" He asked in shock remembering back to the panic attack just last night and the conversation they'd had. "Yeah, she and Taeyong are gonna live with Jeno for a bit until they find a place," Chenle replied still calm and invested in the conversation on his phone. "This is good news for you though cause Taeyong will encourage her to meet you and the absence of her aunt will let her fall in love with you easier," Chenle explained slightly. He just nodded and grabbed a pen and began writing on his arm in black ink. "Hey, cinnamon, I heard you're moving out of your aunt's house, are you going to be ok what with the panic attacks and all?" He wrote trying not to let his complete worry for her seep through too much. "Yeah, Taeyong and I need out, our aunts a mess and totally brings us down, don't worry though, sugar, I'll be fine even with the panic attacks since I won't be surrounded by strangers and Taeyong will be there," She wrote back in black ink of her own. "How do you know all the boys, Chenle, Jeno, Renjun, and Taeyong?" He wrote again in response, he was extremely curious. "Right I forgot I'd never told you, Taeyong's my older brother the only sibling still around after my two older ones, Jinki and Soonkyu, left, I tutor Chenle since he came from China he still occasionally struggles with class here, I met Renjun and Jeno in class we all went to the same high school, I met Jeno first Freshman year and Renjun when he transferred in during sophomore year, then we decided to attend University here together and I met Chenle and Jisung, I'm not very close to Jisung though cause I only met him through Chenle," She wrote in response, her handwriting showing up neatly on his skin. "I'm glad you have all of them to watch over you and love you while I can't," He wrote gently a soft smile on his face. He was truly grateful, she was extremely important to him even if they'd never met.
She couldn't help but smile when he told her he was glad she had the boys in her life and they spent the rest of the night covering their skin in messages to each other and when they ran out of room on their skin they started to talk to each other through their minds and that was how they spent the rest of their day and into the night. A few days later she and Taeyong moved in with Jeno. Chenle and his soulmate, Renjun, and Jisung joined in to help them move. This was the first time she'd met Chenle's soulmate. "Hi, I'm Moon (Y/c/N)," Chenle's soulmate said as she approached with the boys. She extended her hand with a smile and then continued, "You must be Y/n and Taeyong, or as my neighbor likes to call you, Cinnamon and her brother." "Oh my god, my soulmate is your neighbor?" She, the youngest Lee sibling, questioned in shock. Chenle's soulmate smiled in response. "Yeah, he's good friends with my older brother and was actually hanging out at our house when Chenle came over to pick me up. Chenle tried to drag him here, but your soulmate wouldn't let him cause he wanted to make sure you were ready first," The young Moon girl said smiling at the memory of Chenle trying to physically drag the other male out of the house and said other male just sitting on the ground with a stubborn look on his face. "God, this jerk makes me fall in love with him more every day," Spoke the female Lee with a soft smile on her face, the young Moon girl only smiled softly in return. Happy for the two who she had officially deemed perfect for each other in just those few seconds. After that, the moving process began and the two girls became fast friends. Once they were officially moved in they had a mini welcoming party in which those already there laid about in the living room drinking sodas, eating snacks, and chatting happily or in Taeyong's case napping on the floor. "My neighbor told me you're amazing and successfully moved into Jeno's apartment, I already knew you're amazing but I'm glad your moved in, stay safe and happy, I love you," Was the last thing she saw in pink on her arm before she fell asleep that night in her new room. A few weeks later the Lee siblings moved once more, but with a lot more stuff to carefully box and move across the city, this time into a flat that was entirely their own and much closer to the University they attended and coincidentally her soulmates house, though that wasn't known until much later. There was a farewell party and her soulmate was once again invited, but only by Chenle who was desperate for the two to meet. He didn't come, once again respecting her wishes. The Lee siblings smiled and laughed, but were both sad to leave Jeno's flat behind, even in that short time it had become a home, full of laughter and games, gone were the two-way battles for kitchen duty now replaced by much louder three-way games and Jeno was quickly adopted into the family by Taeyong, she had always loved him like a twin brother. Instead of late night talks about where their elder siblings were, hearing their aunt scream about the pains of love, or trying hard to stay awake so they wouldn't see the image of a beautiful but broken woman falling backward off a roof, they laughed and chatted late into the night about anything and everything and sometimes nothing understandable or coherent all of them too tired to truly understand, but nonetheless happier than they'd ever been. For once the two siblings were truly happy. So happy in fact that they debated never leaving Jeno's flat but Jeno had shaken his head while taking a sip of root beer as they laid on the couch all bundled up together, toy story playing in the background and said they needed to find a better place more suited to them, closer to a cafe for the caffeine addict Taeyong and the ever increasingly aesthetic girl who loved the atmosphere, with a different layout and style both inside and out he could tell the plain white walls in every room were driving them insane, and a place they could truly call their own, they'd never truly had somewhere they could do that and he knew they needed it. Nonetheless, they surprised him the night of the farewell party and told him they had another room they wanted him to have, he was after all their brother and no home would be complete without the whole family. The family they had created for themselves. With that two became three and a plain flat turned into a home for a trio that loved each other dearly. For the first few weeks, the flat was changing every day new decorations here and there, decorations moved or gone altogether but it wasn't the only thing changing every day. The only female in their trio, their beloved sister was changing with it. She was becoming happier and more hopeful, she wrote to her soulmate daily and if she didn't write to him she spoke to him in her mind, some days she even initiated the conversations, though he almost always beat her to it. Each and every day they watched her become more herself and more in tune with who she was, she changed her major from math to art history, the clothes she bought herself changed too as she fell into her own style. Day by day she just became more herself, no change she made ever confused her two brothers, if anything they recognized her more with each change, and whenever they saw her these days there was a silent resounding 'ah yes, here is my sister, beautiful as always, there she is' that echoed in their heads and heart. She was now almost exactly who she was meant to be, they all knew there was still one piece missing, one piece that drew on his arms and asked her questions long into the night, that shared odd stories and little delights. Day by day she became more and more ready to meet him and they all knew it. However, it was still months before the pair finally met. When they did meet it was at the youngest Moon sibling's birthday party, both of them friends with the young girl. She, the female Lee, had known for a while now that she was finally ready to meet her soulmate and knew this party would be the perfect opportunity. Even so, she didn't tell Chenle that she was coming, only the young Moon girl, Taeyong, Jeno, and herself knew she would be attending the party. The four of them had kept it a careful secret though Taeyong didn't have much to worry about as he only interacted with Chenle occasionally and had never met Taeil. No, the meeting of the two eldest siblings was a day that would go down in history and certainly not this day. When the day of the party finally came she was a nervous wreck, the three Lee's had spent almost the entire day trying to choose an outfit for her and had only decided 20 minutes before Taeil and his sister were scheduled to arrive to pick her and Jeno up for the party. "God, I think I'm more nervous for you than you are," Taeyong muttered softly as he continued working on her hair, fixing it because everything had to be perfect for his baby sister. "I feel like I'm getting my daughter ready for prom..." he added as he put the last touch on her hair finally happy with it. "Believe me Tae I am just as nervous if not more, he's my soulmate remember," She replied while Jeno just smiled in the background, he loved this dorky family of nervous wrecks, who as Chenle often reminded all of them only had 5% of their lives together on a good day, but today was a great day, so they had 10% or maybe 3%, they couldn't quite figure it out. "Her being nervous is the entire reason I'm going, Taeyong, pretty sure she's more nervous," Jeno added laughing at his adoptive siblings and going back to texting Renjun about how this was going to turn into him standing in the corner alone because he knew no one but people with soulmates and would likely be fifth wheeling the entire time. Though he did remind Renjun that he was ultimately ok with it cause this was his sister's big day and if he was anything he was a supportive brother. "Yeah, you're right, you're right," Taeyong said before spinning her around to make sure everything was perfect. "You know what you always look wonderful, I don't know why I'm so worried," Taeyong said shrugging and letting go of her. "She'll be just fine, Taeyong and if she's not I'll call Renjun and he can beat the jerk up," Jeno said way too nonchalantly, not telling them that Renjun had already offered should anything go wrong. "Perfect," Taeyong said right as a knock sounded on their door. "That's your sign, go get him, girl," Taeyong said shoving her towards the door before dragging Jeno over as well. Soon the youngest Lee's were out the door and in a car where they found a very confused Chenle and Taeil. "Who is this girl I thought we were picking up Jeno and Jeno only?" Taeil asked while Chenle's face slowly morphed into an evil grin fit for a mad scientist. "I'm Y/N, your neighbor's soulmate," She said with a smile introducing herself to the oldest Moon. "Oh my god, really?" Taeil asked and she nodded with a wide smile. "Wow, okay this is shocking." "I can't wait to introduce you two!" Chenle said happily rubbing his hands together in excitement. "Ah ah ah! Not so fast! You are doing no such thing, we already have a plan," Y/N said shaking her head at the young boy. "What kind of plan?" Chenle asked quirking an eyebrow up in curiosity. Y/n and his soulmate quickly explained the plan to a now increasingly offended Chenle. "That's a dumb plan," Chenle said with a shake of his head. "How do you know he's not already sitting in the living room of their house or that he won't show up earlier, the boy practically lives with them," Chenle continued groaning at their lack of planning little did he know they actually had all that sorted. "See that would be an issue if, I hadn't told him the wrong party time so his early will actually be on time, and if that wasn't enough I purposely forgot to buy drinks and snacks so that I could blindside Taeil so that he would ask our friendly neighbor to go with another friend to buy snacks and drinks," Spoke Chenle's soulmate with a smirk on her face. "That's actually pretty clever," Chenle muttered in response before smiling at his soulmate. "I knew you wouldn't have actually forgotten to buy the drinks and snacks!" Taeil said proudly, suddenly validated by this explanation. "You have to swear you won't introduce us though, ok Chenle?" Y/N said making the younger boy pinky promise with her that he wouldn't force them together. All the while him grumbling. Her soulmate did indeed show up late just as planned, she didn't even see him walk in even though his arrival was loudly proclaimed by several friends within the crowd when he showed up with the missing snacks and sodas. After all, she still didn't know his name, so other than being slightly confused it meant nothing to her when shouts of "Donghyuck! Jaemin! Haechan!" rang throughout the home, especially when there were only two people walking in. She shrugged it off and continued walking through the party. She didn't know he was there until she saw him out of the corner of her eye, or more accurately she saw the massive sunflower on his forearm as she walked out of the kitchen. The very tip of the flower was covered by his rolled-up sleeves but it was unmistakably the same as the one on her own forearm, carefully hidden by her long sleeve shirt. She searched the crowd for him, her eyes gazing over everyone until she spotted him again and her heart leaped into her throat, he was gorgeous and with that thought and her eyes grazing over his appearance fear crept into her heart, what if she wasn't really ready to meet him. She started to walk quickly towards the front door her head hanging down as she texted Chenle informing him she was leaving for some fresh air, right after she sent it she ran straight into someone nearly knocking them both over. "Sorry," She muttered softly not bothering to look up and then skirted around the mystery person and out the door. She only made it a few feet down the street before an arm grabbed her wrist and a familiar voice asked her gently to stop and as she turned back the first thing she noticed was the sunflower on his very exposed arm. He had been very upset that Taeil had asked him to run this last minute errand, he hated being late to his friend's party, but he'd been asked so he did. They'd called his name once he entered but all he'd really registered was the beautiful and unfamiliar girl in the back corner talking happily with Chenle, the birthday girl, and someone else he didn't know. He wondered for a moment if it could be her, his soulmate, but he shook his head and told him not to get his hopes up, besides Chenle would've been introducing them as fast as possible if it was. Either way that mysterious girl lingered in his mind throughout the rest of the party, especially because she just kept popping up, he just kept seeing her. His heart had stopped when he'd heard her voice, quiet amidst the crowd but no less recognizable as the voice that had stayed up with him until 3 am talking about their hopes and dreams, the same voice that had told him about how they'd changed their major and then gushed about art history and art for the next hour, the voice he had said I love you to so many times. He'd heard it the soft word, "sorry" from nearby when the mystery girl ran into Taeil as she headed towards the front door. He was frozen staring at the back of her head for a good minute before finally bolting out of the house, causing quite the scene he was sure, but his soulmate was more important than whether or not he caused a scene or not, he'd apologize to Taeil and his sister later. He looked down the street carefully trying to gauge where she'd gone when he saw her in the distance and immediately started running to catch up. Luckily for him, she hadn't made it far and so it was quite easy to catch up to her and grasp her wrist whispering the quite words "Please, wait," his heart stopped again when she turned to look at him and her eyes latched onto the sunflower on his exposed wrist, he knew then he'd been right, she was his soulmate. "You're beautiful," suddenly tumbled out of his mouth surprising both of them back into reality, at least for a moment, before she was sucked back in by the original sunflower. "I really like sunflowers," She blurted out just as quickly, just as randomly a few moments later when she slipped back into the stupor of having her soulmate, her incredibly attractive soulmate, right in front of her holding her wrist, she was just as lost as he was. "You wrote..." she began and her eyes fell to look at the ink still on his skin, he realized he was still holding her wrist at that moment and let it go quickly afraid of hurting her afraid of forcing her to do anything she didn't want to. He was surprised when her hand moved and her fingers ran over the skin of his forearm painted yellow and brown and orange and green with golden writing around it, golden but tragic words "But I'm a sunflower, a little funny, If I was a rose, maybe you'd want me," she read softly tracing each letter delicately. "I like sunflowers, I like a little funny, a little funny is better than the pricking of thorns against your fingers," She said softly before meeting his gaze again. A familiar feeling of weightlessness filled his chest, the same one that had filled his chest when she'd told him she'd buy him coffee and called him sugar for the first time. This was the third time she'd told him she loved him and how it made him want to fly to hear her say the same three words in such a beautiful way, more beautiful than he would ever be able to say them. "Why'd you leave early?" He questioned softly still far too caught up in her beauty and being told she loved him. "I saw the sunflower on your arm and got scared, it's one thing to believe you're ready and entirely another to be faced with the sudden reality of everything you've ever been afraid of and everything you've ever hoped for," She answered truthfully, she'd never lie to him. At that moment as they stared at each other they both realized a few fundamental truths, one she was not an Icarus fated to burn and fall and drown from flying too close to the sun, two he was not the sun he was not harsh and unreachable and overwhelming, three she was not the moon. No, she was the stars in the sky, she had so many sides and levels and hidden depths, she was a universe waiting to be explored and understood and loved, she was beautiful and wondrous and so expansive he would never know all of her and he, oh god he was the sky the delicate and ever-changing sky who shifted and changed to suit her better, bright and blue when she wished to be hidden, dark and velvety and warm when she needed to be seen. He highlighted her and made her shine and held her close and protected her. He filled in the cracks was the lines between her constellations and as they realized this she knew there was nothing to fear from him. He would not leave her with only broken reminders and beer bottles and the desire to fall off of tall buildings or disappear, he couldn't, he was so deeply intertwined with everything about her that he was stuck. He was so in love with her, so wrapped up in every wondrous detail he had and hadn't seen yet that there was no possible way he'd ever leave her. He was so uniquely himself and yet so wonderfully part of her and she was so uniquely herself and yet so wonderfully part of him. "How about we go for a walk, I'll buy you that bouquet and you can buy me that coffee," He suggested as he realized just how much he truly loved her. The surprise and shock and awe melted into a soft warmth that filled his chest, a warmth he could only compare to that first sip of coffee in the morning. "How about we get you a jacket first, you must be freezing," She said with a gentle laugh and a worried expression as she stared down at his exposed and goosebump-covered arms, though he'd claim from then on that half of the goosebumps were just from her touching him and the other half were from seeing her for the first time. "Who needs a jacket I have you," He replied with a gentle smirk and she bumped him slightly with a shy smile. "Would you go get a jacket if I told you I was cold?" She questioned already very aware of how he worked and thought and ticked, you got that way when you talked with someone every day and every night even when you hadn't met them. "Mmm, anything for my lovely cinnamon," He answered and smiled at her, "Come on then, let's go get you a jacket," He said and then gently grabbed her hand, intertwining his fingers with hers without a second thought and dragging her along towards his house. He led her quietly through the house towards his room and sat her on the bed before shuffling through his closet to find a jacket. It wasn't long before he did and he walked back over to her with it. "Nope, you should wear it," She said shaking her head as he tried to hand it to her. "I'll get warm just by you wearing it," She said softly and he tilted his head to the side in confusion, "Sugar, we're connected through our skin," She said tapping her nose lightly giving him a subtle hint. He grinned and chuckled softly before sliding the jacket on around himself before leading her back through the house and towards the closest flower shop. All the while smiling softly at how clever and caring his dear soulmate was. He bought her the very bouquet he'd told her about earlier and then they walked to a cafe nearby and she bought him and herself some coffee. Then they sat together at a table by the window and talked. "Why'd you stop writing on your arm for those weeks?" She asked after taking a sip of her coffee. "My Dad left my mom when I was 10, she was never the same after and hated it when I drew on my arm, that night when it stopped I got caught with ink on my arms and she was very drunk," He answered softly with a gentle shrug. "Why'd you suggest a tramp stamp for the tattoo?" He questioned gently with a slight smirk and the coffee mug resting in front of his face. "It would look nice there and it'd be something only we shared, plus I wanted to see how you'd react," She answered nonchalantly a gentle shrug of her arms and a light dancing in her eyes. It went on like this for quite some time they would talk and chat and ask questions. She told him about her aunt and her older siblings, about the recent adoption of Jeno, her new apartment, and so much more. He told her about his conversations with the moon, about the fun times with his neighbors, and that he really loved her scarf. He told her words of poetry that would've fit in on her skin, talked about stardust and how he could see it in her eyes. She answered him in her own poetic way told him that she used to think he'd look like everything she loved and everything she hated, but now meeting him he looked like all her dreams, he looked like her home, and like everything she'd ever missed had come back to her. A few hours later they finally stood to leave, they swapped numbers and then they began the journey to her flat. They walked hand in hand comfortable and silent the whole way as she leaned gently on him and he tried to stay focused on walking so as to not trip over his own feet because of her beauty. "I still don't know your name," He said as they stopped in front of her front door both of their hands clasped together, they chuckled softly at the realization, having stuck to the now familiar pet names instead. "Y/N," She answered softly with a smile dancing on her lips. "I'm Jaemin," He replied and they both chuckled slightly before silence fell over them. His right hand gently dropped her's and rose towards her cheek before landing gently his hand warm against her cold cheek, "Can I?" He questioned softly and she knew what he was asking, so instead of answering she rose slightly and let her lips meet his and nothing had ever been so perfect in their lives. Every fear or worry about love and soulmates they'd had melted away as they melted together. "It was wonderful to meet you cinnamon," He said when he pulled away, his words were soft and his gaze even softer. "Officially that is," He added with a wink. "We should do this again," She responded softly. "The date or the kissing because both can be arranged," He said with a smirk and she sighed a blush rising to her cheeks at the thought of that magical kiss they'd just shared and the ones waiting for her in the future. "Both would be good," She answered with a gentle smile before kissing him on the cheek and bidding him farewell before entering her flat. Immediately she slid down against the door a soft smile and rosy cheeks adorning her face. Oh god, what was this control he had over her, she thought softly to herself and was surprised to find similar words echoing back to her, just as he was surprised to hear her thoughts. They both smiled softly though. In the end, though that wasn't really farewell for them. No, that night they stayed up talking to each other once again. In fact, very little changed in their relationship from that night on other than that they saw each other in person quite often and they knew each other's names. Dates at the nearby cafe in the morning became an almost daily routine, some days he came with flowers other days with pens and other days with just himself. On the days he came with pens he drew images on her skin so that she could choose when to get rid of it and have the originals on her own skin every now and then. These were always her favorite drawings. The only reason they weren't daily was that once a week they brought the rest of their friends and built families to the cafe with them. It was one of those such days when the historic meeting of the eldest siblings occurred. It was a few weeks later when it happened and they realized who the real Icarus of this story was and who the Moon really was. It was a few weeks later when the story truly came to a close everyone with their happiness in hand. She, Jaemin, Chenle, his soulmate, and Jeno were gathered at the nearby cafe that Taeil just so happened to work at and were waiting on Taeyong to spend some time with each other, their regular weekly family get together though Taeil and Taeyong were regularly absent for whatever reason, constantly missing each other. Nothing big happened until they were just about to leave and Taeyong took a good long look at the handwriting on the cup and then the barista behind the counter and then the handwriting and then the barista who happened to be a very confused Moon Taeil. Taeil looked between Taeyong and the party standing beside him, he was perplexed until all of that turned into a white pale surprise. "Where have I seen your handwriting before?" Taeyong said suddenly staring at Taeil who was now blank and frozen only broken out of his trance by his sister. "Holy shit," His younger sister muttered slightly looking between the two older brothers one a Lee and the other a Moon. Everyone waited the air frozen until Taeil spoke. "We might have a class together alternatively do the words tramp stamp mean anything to you?" Taeil said unable to stop the words slipping out of his mouth. Taeyong dropped the cup of coffee he was holding, thankfully it was empty so coffee didn't go splattering everywhere. "This is definitely not the context I thought this would have when it was finally said," Taeyong said looking from his wrist to the friendly barista he'd definitely thought was cute upon walking in here. "Wait are you her older brother?" Taeyong asked pointing to Chenle's soulmate the young Moon girl realizing that the only way any of this made sense was if there was a connection between the very cute barista and the young girl who was his sister's soulmate's neighbor. Taeil nodded and then asked a very similar question "Is she your younger sister?" pointing towards Jaemin's soulmate who was watching with a wide smile. Taeyong nodded in response. "So, let me get this straight, that one time I wrote on Jaemin cause he asked me to and I jokingly said sure because it might help me meet my soulmate, I was right?" Taeil questioned looking at the large group of frozen people all of them now nodding vigorously with dorky grins on their faces really happy for the two older males. "Xiumin I am taking the day off, I have just found my soulmate," Taeil said suddenly turning towards his manager who had been watching with growing confusion and interest. Xiumin nodded and gave one stipulation, an explanation the next time Taeil came to work, and then watched as his employee ran to the back changed as fast as possible and ran out to meet Taeyong. When they were standing next to each other Jaemin and Y/n both had a major revelation. Taeyong had always been the Icarus and Moon Taeil had always been the Moon and the Sea. Taeyong's roommate with the rainbow handprint on his arm had been the sun and when Taeyong had gotten too close he had fallen, right into Taeil, right into the kind and loving Sea guided by the moon a two-sided being often forgotten and hidden on the sidelines but no less beautiful. Someone Jaemin had trusted and told everything. Taeyong had fallen like Icarus but he would live on loved and cared for by the Sea and the Moon, who had caught him as he descended in fiery glory. "How do you feel about going to see a movie, right now?" Taeil asked after a moment of just staring at his extremely attractive soulmate. Taeyong could only nod in response, before leading Taeil out of the cafe and in the direction of the movie theater. "Looks like everyone gets a happy ending," Jaemin said with a soft smile before looking at his soulmate and giving her a quick kiss on the forehead. "You missed jerk," She replied and quickly kissed him on the lips. "I'm glad I found you." "I'm glad you let me," He responded softly smiling at her, both of them very ready for whatever came their way, for nothing could pull them apart.

The Stars and the Sand
~The Stars and the Sand~Nct!Soulmate Au Part 2
Parts out --> Part 1//Part 1.5//Thanksgiving Special//Part 2 (Congratulations you are here!!)//Part 2.5// Part 3 No links for now cause I'm lazy...
A/N Yes you read that right, finally a real part 2 instead of just little extras and bonuses. Fair warning this might be awful I have no real idea and I’m once again too lazy to properly edit this or edit it at all so there’s probably a ton of errors and it probably sucks but here it is anyway cause if I don’t post it now I might not ever! Either way, I hope you enjoy this part 2! One more thing before I actually get into it I’m a jerk who totally lied to you! I promised you’d find out his name in part 2, but I decided it would be better if you didn’t learn his name until they met, also because I just really love seeing all your guesses and letting you get involved in this...if you’re really pissed and you message me in private I might share the answer with you, but I’d really like to continue to keep it a secret because it’ll work better this way. So you’ll for sure find out in the next part cause that one will be the last part unless you guys want some extreme drama and angst type stuff to go down...let me know if you do and I’ll make it happen, if not next part will be the last one. Also feel free to just comment and talk to me I love hearing from you even if you don’t like something I did in the story feedback is appreciated and it’s nice just to know that people are reading this and have things to say, that being said if you’re just gonna cuss me out and complain and say you hate it without saying why please just don't share I'm not gonna take unjustified hate it's rude and cruel, if you have justification let me know and we can have a civil discussion but please don't just scream at me and not tell me why I suck.
Genre: Same as the last few parts angst and fluff, lots of fluff this time around some really crappy angst near the end I don’t know this whole post is probably crap but oh well
Warnings: Cursing, panic attack, mentions of suicide, alcohol, abandonment that’s it I think...
Word count: 4161 words
(Not my gif once again, what a surprise, but it’s super cute so major props to the creator all credit to them and their amazing art) Also bold is written, italicized are thought/dreamt
She stood at the foot of a wide staircase looking up. She wore a delicate ballgown and silver heels, diamonds dripped off of her from her ears, her neck, her wrists, and fingers. She was looking up, looking up at him, the shadowy figure at the top of the stairs, a silhouette, her view blinded by the lights shining brightly behind him from the very lively ballroom full of people, an audience he was disappointing by disappearing to chase her down. The lights framed him like a golden halo, a sign that he was from the heavens and her from the Earth below. She couldn't see his eyes, but she knew they were locked with her own and were transfixed on her whether that was out of shock and wonder or disgust or hurt and betrayal she knew not, all she knew was he was frozen at the top of the stairs looking down and she was stuck at the bottom looking up. Ultimately it was her who broke from this spell that kept them stuck in place and she turned and ran towards the woods, but as she left him behind she heard his voice echo in her head "I'll find you again, my dear cinnamon, I will. I swear it to you on all the stars and every piece of sand." It was the last thing she heard before morning brought her back to her senses, and the first thing that day that tipped her off to the fact that she may be falling for the boy she swore she’d never love.
It was still early in the morning when she rose from her bed and began the trek downstairs to make breakfast for herself, Taeyong, and their Aunt. Jinki and Soonkyu were never home these days and so she had simply stopped making them breakfast. She trudged down the stairs all the while cursing the game of checkers that had spelled her doom and forced this early morning on her when she lost to Taeyong yet again. She was beginning to think she was just bad at games... Either way there she was standing in the kitchen over a frying pan when the first message of the day from her soulmate appeared on her skin, "Hello, cinnamon!! I hope you have a great day, cause I know I will (how can I not when you're my soulmate), if your day starts going bad remember there are more reasons to smile than pieces of sand in the world, and though most of them revolve around you there are other reasons made just to see your beautiful smile, love you!!" She smiled fondly at the sweet and loving words written on her skin in red ink.
She was still smiling and humming lightly to herself when Taeyong emerged from his room and entered the kitchen. "I've never seen you this happy to make breakfast, so imposter answer me this, who are you and what have you done with my baby sister?" Taeyong asked as he sat down on one of the stools behind the counter.
"What's wrong with being happy, Tae?" She questioned giving him a quizzical look when he didn't respond she explained slightly, "There's just a lot of reasons to smile, more in fact than pieces of sand on Earth," She said but he was still very confused, so he stared at her like she'd lost her mind until she began to dish up the food and he became too distracted to care. Then she went to go wake her aunt and it was on their return to the kitchen that her aunt told her something that had her reeling and confused the rest of the day.
He woke up after a very restful sleep and for once truly enjoyed, truly loved the sun, it's greeting, and its companionship. Sure, he had always preferred sunny weather, but he'd never truly loved the sun with complete sincerity until today. So, it was the sun and his new found appreciation for it, no, his newfound understanding that inspired him to do what he did that day, though it had truly begun with sand and the color red. He'd woken up to soft fingers of light on his cheek and light dancing across the now smudged drawings from the day before, flowers and stars, the moon and the sea fuzzy and hazy from both his sleepy eyes and time, wear and tear applied to even the most beautiful things. The light had illuminated these beautiful scenes that screamed to the world no matter how broken we both are no matter how distant we are still beautiful, the world is still beautiful and we are inseparable in ways that not even the sun and the moon could understand. He and the sun had truly become one that morning when he woke up and once again saw the world as beautiful when he woke up and smiled at the pot of flowers on his windowsill and at the trees outside and the birds amongst its leaves singing loudly. Most of all though, it was because he loved the moon, he shined for her and told her she was beautiful, he illuminated her and taught her to shine, to love her own skin, she had grown up knowing and believing she was beautiful because he told her she was with the drawings he covered her with. He reminded her of the beauty and that was the suns role. It may be warm, it may be destructive, but it was also a light giver, a life giver, an illuminator, a seer of beauty, an appreciator of art, a witness to the extravagance and brilliance of life, and a general life enthusiast who gave his everything to everything he did. Today he would share that light and he would show her even more beautiful things and then he would tell her what was most beautiful.
That morning after telling her there were many reasons to smile, he began to tell her what they were and just like his mornings his list began with morning coffee the soothing warm liquid that woke him up and gave him energy, a life giver of its own sort, perhaps just a simple falsehood, but that didn't make it's presence in his life any less sweet and good. He found the next items on his list when his neighbor's little sister showed up at his door with her hair pulled up an apron on and flour on her face.
"Write your mom a note, you're coming over for breakfast," She said quickly shoving him towards the kitchen to write said note.
"Nuh-uh, I am making my mom some breakfast and then I'll join you," He replied and she sighed before waving her arm at him and letting him begin.
While he cooked she wrote a note to his mom and once both were complete they left together and walked over to her house. There he found a pile of chocolate chip pancakes waiting for him and the two siblings. Several bowls of toppings were scattered on the counter as well, none of them healthy other than the bananas and strawberries but that was to be expected from the two siblings, one a college student and the other a high school senior just about to graduate and join the two boys in university. Taeil did usually remain on the healthier side but they had a cheat day once a week where his little sister was entirely in charge of deciding what they ate and when, it was his way of making sure her voice was always heard, and today was very clearly that day.
After eating and laughing over stacks of chocolate chip pancakes with some of his favorite people in the world, he was very aware of what the next two things he'd write to her would be. It was very obviously chocolate chip pancakes and friends who are like family or family that are your friends. A little while later these same siblings gave him the next thing he'd write to her too.
She knew she was in trouble as soon as the fourth thing appeared on her arm, yes everything else he'd written had been cute and sweet and lovely and made her smile, but this fourth thing only made it more obvious to her that he was meant for her and she knew there was no way she would be able to avoid falling in love with him, not when he gave her more reasons to smile than there were stars in the sky.
She had burst out laughing when the fourth thing had appeared on her skin in orange ink and promptly squealed about it only moments later, though it wasn't really anything to squeal over it was weird and funny and charming and darling and adorable and oh god how she loved it, oh how it made her smile. This, of course, gained Taeyong's attention especially since he was seated on the floor in front of her position on the couch and she was very loud...and also nearly kicked him in the head. "What did he say now?" Taeyong asked pushing her into a sitting position and joining her on the couch. She didn't answer just smiled. So, he took her arm and searched for new writing and found it there on her wrist in orange. "You're going to think this is really dumb, but my neighbors have a pair of salt and pepper shakers that are shaped like dinosaurs and I thought it was really funny..." Taeyong read aloud before fixing his sister with a look of annoyance, it was one of those done parent looks that each of them saw many parents and older siblings give out, not that their own mother had ever given it to either of them nor had either of their siblings, Jinki had been too depressed after his soulmate's tragic end and Soonkyu hadn't been home since she left on her honeymoon and she'd always been so kind and loving and supportive until then. She'd been 100% smiles until she was abandoned at a train station. The first time they ever heard her cry was over the phone when she told them what had happened. "Only you would find that so adorable, I'm serious you're meant to be," Taeyong said reigning in his thoughts before they went too far down the rabbit hole. This was one wonderland he didn't want to experience.
His little sister just stuck out her tongue and then shoved him off the couch. No other response other than those two actions to his words. He sighed as soon as he hit the ground and then decided to be a little drama queen, at least that's what his baby sister would have said if you asked her to explain what happened next.
"How dare you?!" He called out in quite the dramatic fashion, flinging his arms around and throwing one over his eyes before continuing, "I trusted you, I loved you," He exclaimed slightly being very over dramatic about his slight fall to the ground. "I can't believe it, my own sister...my killer..." He mused before feigning a dramatic death scene. She laughed softly at her older brother and he shot up into a sitting position. "Don't laugh this is a serious moment, I've just died! What kind of sister are you?" He questioned acting all hurt and then promptly returning to his "dead" position. She stifled back the laugh that was rising in her throat and decided to join his antics.
"Oh no! Taeyong! What have I done! I never meant to kill you!" She said throwing an arm over her eyes in a dramatic fashion and pausing on the couch for a moment before coming to kneel beside him, who was now the one trying to hide his laughter. "Can you forgive me?" She pleaded in a very obviously fake and overdramatic voice. Then a moment of silence before they both burst out laughing loudly. They were consumed by the best kind of laughter, the uncontrollable, unceasing, and extremely loud laughter that shook you and made you cry and caused your side to ache and that only subsided after a soft fade to silence as you wiped your eyes and clutched your side. "I love my brother," she thought softly to herself, but her soulmate heard her and smiled gently at her kind words and the way she said them and that was how he found the fifth item for his list, a family that loves you. It wasn't long before that too was written on her skin in green ink. She smiled at that one too, especially the little pink heart drawn next to it.
It was in that moment that she remembered the words of her aunt, the words that had never truly left her today, they'd been lingering all day and leaving her with only questions and no answers.
"Love him while you can," Her aunt had told her when she'd woken her up and her aunt had seen the words on her skin in various colors, only two at the time, but enough for her aunt to feel the need to tell her this. The words had surprised her especially coming from the aunt who had cursed love and soulmates for as long as she'd known her, the aunt who fell into drunken stupors every night and woke with hangovers every morning. She'd wanted to ask how her aunt could say that when every other moment she preached against love and it's poisonous claws, but they had made it downstairs too fast and there was no chance.
After these five things alone she knew she did love him, but even then she was still terrified, because her aunts comment had not told her that the love would last nor that it would be good just that she should love him, and she still saw her aunt pick up the bottle later that day when she and Taeyong had plopped down in front of the tv to watch a drama they were both highly invested in. Still heard the muttered curses against love and the man who had left her. So she was left to wonder why should she love if one day she too would be cursed to wander halls like a ghost and know a life of liquor and anger and nothing more? What was the point of love if all it did was hurt?
Yet, she couldn't help but love the boy who wrote things like, I saw a squirrel today it stared at me for like ten seconds, so basically I won a staring contest with a squirrel, my neighbor's sister is belting out Fantastic Baby really loud and headbanging and it's highly amusing, there are really pretty flowers in my neighbors' yard and my yard too by the way, or there was a really cute puppy on a walk today and I think puppies existing at all is a reason to smile, we don't deserve dogs. She loved the boy who found all the possible reasons to smile in all the littlest things.
She fell asleep reading all the reasons to smile and he fell asleep with a silver pen in hand ready to write yet another reason to smile. Neither of them expected to be waking up a few hours later in such complete panic and terror.
She was on the floor sobbing and shaking and in the middle of a panic attack when she heard his voice in her head singing to her softly and saw more writing appearing on her arms, writing she couldn't read through the tears and the shaking and the fear.
He woke up to curse words, a panicked voice, and jumbled thoughts streaming through his head erratically in her voice, once lyrical and beautiful now panicked, strung out, and thin. He felt her panic in his mind and for a moment almost began to panic himself before realizing that wouldn't help her. So he sang her a song, the very song her favorite quote and drawing were inspired by (It's Miracle, specifically the NCT Dream cover if you're curious, it might also contain a hint as to who her soulmate is ;) ). He wrote words to her carefully and calmly and prayed she would be able to read them all the while still singing to her. "I love you," He wrote "You're beautiful," "Look at the moon, find it and know I'm looking at it too and I'm here," "The moon knows you well, I tell the moon all about you at night, it'll watch over you tonight since I can't," "Believe me if I were with you I'd hold you in my arms and make you hot cocoa and make sure you felt safe and loved," He wrote so many different things trying to get her to see them, trying to calm her with soothing words of love and when his song finished he sang another and another until her jumbled thoughts latched onto the words and started thinking them back to him, she was beginning to calm and as she calmed so did he.
"Did you mean everything you wrote?" She asked when her thoughts were finally her own again and not that panicked mess of pain and hopelessness and she had read everything he'd written on their shared skin.
"I did," He responded gently and began to draw a little flower on his skin. "I do love you and even though I haven't seen you I know you're beautiful, I stare at the moon all the time and I tell the moon about you every night except for tonight cause I was too busy writing to you, I sure would've done anything to help you if I were there," He concluded and only silence greeted him for a minute.
"I'm sorry about that, I must have woken you up," She said after a moment and he sighed softly.
"You don't have to apologize, you don't choose when you have a panic attack," He replied shaking his head and continuing to draw flowers and hearts on his skin. "If you don't mind me asking, was there a cause or did it just happen?"
"They're usually unexpected, just kind of come whenever, but this time it was a nightmare, I was falling," She replied too shaken to bother lying, plus she just needed to talk to someone and there was no way she'd be bothering Taeyong when she'd heard him crying to himself earlier and she knew he needed sleep. They could comfort each other in the morning but for now, she needed someone to talk, to listen, to be present.
"Do you fear falling?" He questioned, trying to better understand his soulmate, the female voice in his head, the soft handwriting he'd seen only a few times.
“No, it just brings back a time when I watched someone I cared about fall from a very high height," She replied softly careful about what she said not yet wanting to tell him everything, but if he asked she'd share.
"How often do you have them?" He asked swaying the topics, he'd felt her apprehension, her desire not to tell him, but her willingness to tell him if he asked, he wouldn't ask if only to give her what she truly wanted.
"Pretty often, often enough that we moved all the way out here so I could actually attend university, frequent enough that I can't stay in a dorm," She answered pretending it didn't bother her, but he saw right through it and knew she wanted desperately to just lead a normal life, she wanted to not fear having a soulmate, she wanted to love and be loved without fear, she wanted to trust people, live in dorms, and not have panic attacks but something long ago had changed everything for her. He wanted to know what it was but if she wasn't ready he wouldn't push it. "It's gotten better though, I used to not be able to sleep at all, then I could sleep only a little, then they were everyday, now they're frequent but not nearly that often," She explained trying to comfort him before letting out a sigh and deciding it was time he knew. "It's why I wanted to ignore you," She said softly.
"Because you have panic attacks?" He questioned seeking clarification for her words.
"No, because of the event that caused the panic attacks," She responded and then sucked in a shaky breath, "I watched my mother swan dive off a roof because my father, her soulmate had left her, my family is cursed when it comes to soulmates," She concluded and he nodded silently in understanding, it only made him love her more, no that was a lie, it only made him realize how much he loved her when his heart broke at her tender, vulnerable, and entirely true words.
"I can stop if you want, if I make it worse, if I'm hurting you I can stop," He said softly after a moments pause, he would rather never write to her again, rather ignore her than hurt her any more than he might have already.
"Please don't stop," She replied softly, "I m getting better because of you, it's nice to have someone to talk to all the time, someone who cares, it's nice to be loved by more than just my brother and a few friends," She continued knowing that as much as her aunt said she loved her she didn't, you can't love someone if you spend 95% of your time incapable of comprehensible thoughts, and as much as her eldest siblings would tell her they loved her when they were still around you don't just abandon people you love as they had, you don't leave and never come back and you certainly don't ingrain fear into every fiber of their being just because life has hurt you. Taeyong, Chenle, Renjun, and Jeno were the only ones who loved her so totally beside her unknown soulmate. He heard these thoughts too and nearly screamed when he heard Chenle's name run through his head, she was that close and yet she was so far away.
"Cinnamon," He began slowly bringing her attention back to his familiar voice. "I wish I could send you a bouquet of flowers, my neighbor has a whole section of books in his library about the language of flowers so I'd get him to help me, but if I remember right I already know what flowers I'd put in it, I'd put bluebells, dahlias, forget-me-nots, and peach blossoms into a bouquet and give it to you if only I could find you," He told her, what he didn't tell her was what it was he thought those flowers meant, he also didn't tell her that Chenle's soulmate was his neighbor's sister, the very one that had made him come over for pancakes dusted in flour and messy with the efforts of cooking. He didn't tell her that even if he hadn't met her he saw her in the stars in the sky every time he looked out his window at night, didn't tell her that he loved her with more love than the vast expanse of the universe, didn't tell her that if they got a second together for every grain of sand in the world or every star in the entire unending galaxies and universes that still wouldn't be enough time. He didn't tell her that he'd never leave her, because he knew she wouldn't believe him and it would just hurt her if she thought he was making a false promise just to make her feel better. So he stuck with just wishing he could buy her a bouquet and she heard none of these other secrets. Knew none of the promises he'd made to both of them in his heart.
"I'd buy you coffee," She replied after a moment of silence between them, "there's a cafe near my house, I'd take you there and buy you a cup of coffee," She continued and the weight of what she'd just said made him weightless. That was the night he learned that the best conversations were held under the stars after a day of counting grains of sand. Nothing had ever mattered to him more than the simple words I'd buy you coffee in that specific moment. In any other moment those words would have had very little significance, but at this moment, in her voice in his head, in this way they meant everything. Context truly was everything and that night everything changed and nothing could ever be the same. Nothing could ever go back to the way it had been there would be no hope of her ever being able to ignore him ever again. Their worlds had shifted, the tides had shifted, and that single moment was the beginning and end of everything they'd ever known.
(Not my gif again, still not a surprise, credit it to whoever made this gem)
A/N hope you liked it, you probably didn’t but yay to anyone who did! Like and comment and tell me what you thought, honestly just talk to me, it doesn’t even have to be about the story, I just like hearing from all of you!
~Bonus for whoever made it here (Not any story just an extra little tidbit because I’m extra)~
Meaning of flowers (cause I'm extra af and put way too much thought into this story that like 5 people will probably enjoy): blue bells= humility, and constancy, depict devotion towards loved one; I will be constant; also, everlasting love, dahlias= positive changes, commitment, honesty, everlasting commitment; forever thine, forget-me-nots= true love, remembrance, fidelity, long-lasting connection, peach blossoms= this heart is thine; I am your captive; I am yours

FALL LEAVES AND AUTUMN THINGS
~Fall Leaves And Autumn Things~ NCT!Soulmate Au Thanksgiving Special
Parts Out---> Part 1// Part 1.5// Thanksgiving Special (This is the part you're staring at)//Part 2//Part 2.5// Part 3
A/N not a part 2 either sorry guys. But since it is Thanksgiving I decided to give you a little holiday special. It is actually important to the rest of the series (especially since it gives out a lot of names) but it isn’t very good since I wrote it all literally today and did not edit it in the slightest. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Also yes I know Thanksgiving is an American holiday, but I’m American and really wanted to write something more for you guys because part 2 has been taking me a while. Feel free to read it as a different holiday if you want!! I promise part 2 is coming!!!
Genre: Mostly fluff a little angst at the beginning.
Warnings: Swearing mentions of abuse and death
Word count: 2798 words
She had never had a full family Thanksgiving someone was always gone. When her father was still in their lives, before he'd packed his bags and run out screaming "I'm your soulmate I have to love you, but that doesn't mean I have to stay," at their mother, he was busy with work and very rarely made it home in time for dinner, working as a manager in a large company didn't give you a lot of time at home. After he left their mother had spent every Thanksgiving out on the town drowning sorrows until the year she threw herself off a building and her eldest sibling, her sister, spent the day outside of the house, she'd been around when the whole family was together and it hurt her too much to know he was gone and not because he was busy at work making money to keep food on their table. After her mother threw herself off of the top of a building her sister really stopped coming around and so did the elder of her two brothers. For years now it had only been her, Taeyong, and their aunt seated around the table, but most years she didn't mind. Thanksgiving was a time to be grateful and grateful she was for what she had. She was grateful one of her siblings stuck around and loved her, thankful for the food on the table, and her aunt who even with all her flaws had still raised them well and made an effort to be sober for at least a little bit of the day and made them the dinner that sat before them. So Thanksgiving still remained one of her favorite holidays, it reminded her who truly cared and reminded her that even though she'd lost so much, she still had a whole lot left.
He remembered a time when his whole family was gathered around the table. When his father would carve the turkey and his mother would smile and laugh. He remembered the sparkle in her eyes when she looked at his father and the gentle way they held hands while they ate. He remembered happy days and love, but even now that all that was gone he still had a lot to be thankful for. He was grateful he was still alive and that his mother was too. He was thankful that they still had each other and that she always took the day off from work even if she only took the day to sleep. He still loved Thanksgiving if only because it reminded him that they still had each other and she loved him even if she had a hard time showing it these days. He spent most Thanksgivings with his neighbors and some of their friends who were far from home this time of year attending university and unable to go home for the short break. He always invited his mother and sometimes she came and sometimes she didn't.
This year was one of the ones she didn't. "Mom, Taeil and his sister invited me over again, do you want to come?" He asked her gently this morning when she came into the kitchen to get some coffee.
"Not this time honey," She replied groggily and started to pour herself some coffee, but with shaking hands that wasn't a great idea. He walked over to her and helped her pour herself a cup. "Thank you, Honey," She said as he handed the cup over to her.
"No problem mom, did you want me to stay home this year, I can make us something and we can spend the day together?" He suggested softly as she took a sip of coffee.
"No, Honey, you should go have fun, don't let this old Debbie Downer bring you down with her, you're still young you should be enjoying life not taking of me like this," His mom replied and he could see the tears in her eyes as she took another sip of coffee.
"Mom, it's no problem really, I'd love to spend the day with you," He added softly stepping closer to her, she backed away.
"No, it's better if you spend less time here..." She replied turning away from him.
"Mom," He began and took another step towards her.
"Honey, please, it's better this way," She replied and he sighed and frowned at the older woman who he loved dearly. Her hair was graying and looked like pepper from all the stress she'd been putting herself under, her appearance haggard and worn out in every way.
"Mom, I know you didn't mean it, it's ok, you're just hurting and alcohol can bring out the worst in us," He said softly, knowing full well that all of this was guilt for what she'd done. "I love you, mom."
"I know honey, but that doesn't make it ok, I shouldn't have hit you at all much less treat you like I did, so go have fun with Taeil and his sister and their friends, I'll be fine," She replied turning to face him again and putting down her mug to reach out to him. He took her hands in his and pulled her into a gentle hug.
"Ok, I'll go, but not until I've made you some food," He replied and then ushered her out of the kitchen so he could get to work.
Once he'd finished making her a small meal he put it in the fridge for her to enjoy later and then walked over to his neighbor's house where he was greeted by Taeil who ushered him in kindly and proceeded to introduce him to everyone gathered there. He, of course, knew a few from past years, but Taeil had this habit of adopting people and so the group always grew and only shrunk after members got married or graduated and moved away. Some of the familiar faces were Sicheng or as everyone called him WinWin because he was a star and everyone knew it, everything about him was wonderful and well a win, he was from China and had started coming the second year, he'd been invited by Yuta, WinWin's soulmate from Japan who'd been here since the beginning as it was too hard to get home for Thanksgiving, Johnny the reason this even existed, he'd gotten sad one year when he realized he wasn't going to be able to go home for Thanksgiving and so Taeil had been putting this together ever since, Kun, another one from China whose first year had been last year and finally Ten a dance major from Thailand who like Yuta and Johnny had been here since the beginning. Amongst the new faces were Mark a new transfer student from Canada who'd likely be coming to these every year from now on, Lucas, another student from China who had been invited by Ten this year, and Chenle Taeil's sister's soulmate and yet another student from China, the two of them Chenle and Taeil's sister had yet to enter University but attended the same high school in the area, the very one he himself used to attend until recently him being just a bit older than the pair.
Thanksgiving was one of the few days where she and Taeyong didn't have to wake their aunt, she'd already been up getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner and nursing a hangover while she did it. So they'd help her and it always got messy one way or another. This year Taeyong started a food fight with the stuffing. It had begun with a mocking comment from his sister which he retaliated to with a handful of stuffing. She had responded with a comment about how immature he was and he'd responded with another fistful of stuffing... So, she'd grabbed the food item nearest her, which happened to be cranberry sauce and dumped it on his head before mashing it down into his hair.
"You jerk!" He'd proclaimed as some of it began to slide down his face. Then he'd grabbed the entire bowl of stuffing and started moving towards her. She ran. He followed chasing her until finally he tackled her onto the living room couch and dumped it on her head as well. She immediately shoved him off and then ran back to the kitchen to refill her stocks of weapons. This time it was eggs which she threw at Taeyong as he chased after her. Three ended up hitting his chest and covering his shirt in egg, but the other six all ended up on the walls and floor. All the while he was throwing mashed potatoes at her and his aim was much better.
By the time they finally called a truce the house was a mess of eggs, mashed potato, and other foods and they had food everywhere, stuck in their hair on their chests and legs and arms, Taeyong had a piece of carrot stuck behind his ear and sweet potato all over his back. She had a green bean stuck in her hair and fruit punch dripping from her shirt. They were both laying on the kitchen trying to breathe again as they sucked in deep breaths and panted slightly.
"If you had touched the pumpkin pie, you would be dead now, I hope you know that," She said softly turning her head to look at her older brother.
"Same goes to you, munchkin," Taeyong responded sitting up and leaning against one of the cupboards.
"At least the wild animals know enough not to mess with the pie," They heard their aunt mutter angrily under her breath and started busting out laughing. "Shut up you animals, go shower and change and then we can eat," their aunt said louder looking over at them with stern fondness, she was upset with them but clearly also amused and glad they were having fun. They nodded and stood up to go do as she directed.
"Hey, does Chenle have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with?" Taeyong asked as they ascended the stairs.
"Yeah, soulmate remember plus he's still in high school and his family lives in town, anyways apparently her brother does this whole huge thing with some of the college kids, he invited me to come, but for some reason I declined to hang out with you, look where that got me," She replied staring down at the blue shirt that had now been tainted by red punch.
"Mmm, what about Renjun and Jisung?" Taeyong asked as they continued up the stairs. "Come on, you know we have plenty of food and room for them," Taeyong suggested nudging her slightly.
"Well, Jisung's family lives here, again still in high school, so he's got that going, but Renjun is probably alone, I'll ask him if he wants to come over," She answered before kissing her older brother on the cheek and going off towards her bathroom to shower. On her way, she called Renjun.
"Hey, y/n, what's up, Taeyong being annoying?" Renjun asked as soon as he picked up the phone.
"Yes and no," She replied with a smile, "Do you have anyone to spend Thanksgiving with?"
"Well, Jeno and I were just about to come up with an excuse to decline Chenle's invitation, don't really want to interrupt the whole soulmate thing, ya know?" Renjun responded and she nodded for a moment forgetting he couldn't see her.
"Did you want to come over and spend it with my family, it would be a better excuse than whatever you two were going to come up with?" She asked as she grabbed a towel and a change of clothes.
"Yeah, sounds like a plan," Renjun answered after a moment of silence, probably used to confer with his companion Jeno.
"Ok, head on over now then we're just about to eat," She replied and then the two hung up.
Thanksgiving was fun, but uneventful for him until dessert came around, well except for when Johnny asked a question, looking between him and Taeil. "So are either of you ever going to explain what all this tramp stamp stuff is about?" Johnny asked and immediately he felt his cheeks and ears heat up.
"What?" He choked out slightly the blush very evident on his face.
"Mmm, yeah Taeil and his little sis here keep making jokes about a tramp stamp and the only explanation we've ever gotten is it's an inside joke about our neighbor," Johnny replied staring intently at the blushing mess that was this boy.
"I feel so betrayed right now," He said glaring towards Taeil and his sister who both just shrugged.
"It was funny, sorry man," Spoke the only female in the room with a shrug.
"I'm planning on getting a tattoo, so I asked my soulmate where she'd want it," He began but he was quickly cut off.
"And she said she wanted a tramp stamp?" Ten questioned in shock "Where can I find me a girl like this?"
"Y'know there's nothing inherently wrong or suggestive about a tramp stamp right? It's just a generalized idea that is both false and demeaning," Kun added frowning a little, not specifically at ten but about useless stereotypes.
"I mean the tattoo he wants to get would look best going straight across somewhere and she suggested three of the best places for that kind of look, plus it makes it more meaningful that it's not somewhere super visible," Taeil added, probably trying to make up for using it as a joke at his neighbors expense.
"Plus if she doesn't want a tattoo this might be her way of compromising, easily hidden and forgettable, but still there so she's being supportive of his desires even if she doesn't agree," Kun added after a slight lull. That was all they said on the subject and pretty much the only eventful thing regarding him at dinner. Otherwise, it was mostly a bunch of teenagers and college students being total dorks and crackheads as usual. At least until dessert rolled around and he had the best idea ever.
It was a totally normal Thanksgiving evening, with the exception of two extra persons in the house, when she fell off the couch despite the fact that she was carefully sandwiched in between Renjun and Jeno and it should've been impossible.
"What the hell?" Renjun said as she collided with the floor and sat up rubbing her head.
"Ugh, so the universe hates me," She answered and quickly explained that she could now also hear her soulmate's thoughts on the odd occasion.
"So what did he surprise you by speaking to you or something?" Jeno asked as she concluded.
"He screamed 'I have the best idea! OMG!' Really loud in my head," She replied rubbing her temples gently.
"Ouch," Jeno replied with little to no actual feeling in his voice.
"Thank you pumpkin spice cake and pumpkin pie," suddenly rang out in her head in his voice at a much quieter level and she couldn't help but pull a face of utter confusion.
"What did he say now?" Taeyong asked leaning forward in his seat endlessly curious about his otp.
"He's thanking desserts..." She replied before chuckling softly under her breath at how dumb her soulmate sounded right now.
"Y/n, your soulmate is one odd cookie, he's perfect for you," Renjun said looking at her with mixed expressions, confusion being the chief amongst them.
Then only a few moments later in his familiar handwriting words showed up on her skin, "So, you know how I've been trying out different nicknames/pet names for you, I've finally found the perfect one!" He wrote to her and then continued, "You'll be cinnamon, cause you're sweet but also not, you know, like cinnamon, does that make sense, you remind me of cinnamon so I'm gonna call you cinnamon," He wrote beginning to ramble slightly which she hadn't even known was possible. "Then you can call me sugar, cause I'm super sweet all the time and then together we'll be cinnamon sugar which is amazing and we'd have matching nicknames which is super cute," Her soulmate wrote again moments later and she sighed with a tinge of adoration in it.
"He's adorable," She muttered softly under her breath and chuckled lightly. "Ok then, you can call me cinnamon and I'll call you sugar," She wrote back with a soft smile on her lips and the three males in the room watched in amusement at the girl who was slowly but surely falling in love.
"YES!" Was the very next thing she heard in her head from him and chuckled slightly once again. He really was a cute boy whoever he was.
Neither of them stopped smiling for the rest of the night...

~The Sun and the Moon He Loved~ NCT!Soulmate Au Part 1.5
Parts--> Part 1//Part 1.5 (You are here now)//Thanksgiving Special//Part 2// Part 2.5// Part 3
A/N Hey everyone! So this is not a part 2 sorry, not quite done with that yet but I wanted to give you something to hold you over until then so I wrote this up. Basically, it’s more of his side of the story, what he was doing the actual context behind everything he did. I hope you enjoy it! It might also be helpful in trying to determine who her soulmate is ;) so there’s that! Remember to feel free to comment I love hearing what you have to say and love hearing your guesses for who her soulmate is, feel free to continue to guess and guess at other characters as well (I really like keeping secrets from you guys sorry not sorry, but I promise you’ll get real names in part 2 maybe not everyone’s name but you’ll get names). Forewarning I suck at and hate editing my work because I am lazy af so it is entirely likely that this sucks and is super crappy I really hope it isn’t but there is always a chance so keep that in mind! Try to enjoy it though! Thanks so much for liking the original!! <3
Genre: same as last time angst and fluff
Warnings: same as last time: alcohol and death, mentions of abuse, mentions of tattoos, also swearing forgot that one on the last one but it’s here now (Please let me know if there are any warnings you would like on this list or any future lists, I want to make sure my blog and posts are safe for everyone and won’t cause any harm in any way, but I can’t do that if you don’t inform me of these kinds of things)
Word count: 4271 words
(Not my gif, credit goes to the original owner, I can’t make gifs so they will never be mine just saying also here’s a quick hint ;) her soulmate is in this gif)
It was his grandpa who shaped how he felt about soulmates, more specifically his own soulmate. It was not his mother who spent her days buried in work and her nights drowning in alcohol to try to wash away, forget, and distract herself from the memories of her own soulmate, his father, who she'd lost too early. It was not her, who tried desperately to blind herself to his last words permanently written around her wrist in a font too pretty for the pain they carried. Nor did he learn it from his lifelong neighbor who was a mixture of hope and utter disdain for his soulmate, both because of the very words on his wrist and the possibility that they might be the last words his soulmate would ever say to him, which if true would mean a very short and tragic story for the pair of them. It was instead his Grandpa who saw a world in black and white and gray once again after only a few short years of seeing in color. It was his grandpa who had loved his soulmate dearly even after she left him for another man and even after she died in a fiery plane crash somewhere over the US. His grandpa had told him since the day he was born that love was worth the pain, that seeing in color for even just a few years was worth it. to have beauty and wonder and magic for even just a short while was worth all the pain that came during and after. It was his grandfather that taught him that yes, love is poison, but it's the best way to die. He was taught that even if life hurts it can still be beautiful and the beauty is worth all the pain, that's why some of the best artists were some of the most troubled people.
So, he did everything he could to remind himself that there was beauty tied to all the pain that would inevitably come his way. He wrote poems and drew pictures on his arm and made his skin beautiful to make himself remember to love her because she was beautiful and love is and was beautiful no matter how much it hurts. He must love his soulmate, the one he was given because no matter what happened the time they would have together would be beautiful and wonderful and magical. Even if it only leads to pain and trauma. So, he drew on his arm and wrote to his soulmate and talked to her and wished for her because everyone dies one day and everyone would leave one day, everyone would be gone eventually and he wanted to go out on his own terms. He wanted to go out knowing he'd truly lived and had seen beauty had really beheld it. He wanted to die knowing he had lived and loved and seen beauty in a dark world made of pain, he found a light. He wanted to die having lived and known a beautiful life.
He was well aware that the very reasons he drew on his arms were the very reasons his mother hated that he did it. She didn't care one bit for the potential of ink poisoning, not when she was giving herself alcohol poisoning. She only cared because it was him celebrating everything she was running from, celebrating everything she was trying to drown out. She saw it as a lie he was telling himself because she'd lived the loss of a soulmate and losing him wasn't beautiful, losing him wasn't easy. Remembering the good times didn't make losing him in a car crash any easier. She had lost her own soulmate young and here he was celebrating the possibility. It was like a slap to her face and he loved his mother. So, he hid his musings, his gentle ramblings, and carefully drawn art underneath long sleeves and careful actions to protect his mother from the pain his hope would cause her and to protect himself and his soulmate because he understood well what happened when pain and alcohol mixed and found a target.
His mother being drunk was hardly a rare occurrence but her being awake while he made dinner was. So he was shocked when his mother came stumbling around the corner a bottle in hand and alcohol on her breath and his hands weren't fast enough to roll his sleeves back down to cover the images on his arm before she saw them. Her eyes darkened as they landed on his colorful arms and it was only then that he thought the panicked words "Shit, mom's drunk again," entirely unaware that his soulmate had just heard him and nearly fallen out of bed, instead just focused on trying to control his mother's pain and rage and failing miserably.
He went to bed in pain and woke up sore and was eternally grateful that his soulmate wouldn't feel the full effects of these bruises, they were only skin deep for her, only minor wounds that would hurt when pressed upon but were otherwise insubstantial. He went to school that day and was careful to avoid using pens so as to avoid the itch to decorate his skin. It wasn't safe or smart to draw all over his arm right after being caught.
The next day he locked his pens up in his desk drawer and hid the key in his bookshelf and for the next couple of days, all was well until one night while working on math homework.
There on his skin in black ink, dark and obvious against his skin, bold and unapologetic something was written. He didn't even read it at first as he panicked at his failure for a brief second before remembering the lock on the drawer and the key in the bookshelf and the pencil bag filled with only pencils and erasers. So after calming, he stared at the words and found unfamiliar handwriting and the carefully written "Are you Ok?" his thoughts raced immediately at the sudden realization that for the first time in his life his soulmate had actually written to him.
"She’s real! Oh my goodness! She’s real! She exists! What do I do?" He thought rapidly his thoughts firing at a mile a minute all because suddenly she wasn't just a phantom in his mind, she was real and she had handwriting and he was freaking out. He started grinning and couldn't stop and his arms flailed as he squealed quietly to himself, because oh my goodness I'm actually not alone and all of this hasn't been for nothing and she's worried about me because I haven't been drawing on my arm!!! He was ecstatic and thrilled and he wondered if this is what girls felt like while watching really cheesy romance films and the couple finally got together or if girls felt this way about being noticed by their crush. After a moment of absolute joy, he quickly stood and grabbed the key from his bookshelf and unlocked the box so he could respond. "I will be," he wrote carefully a smile still lingering on his face as he stared down at her words. He pulled out his phone and snapped a quick photo as proof that his soulmate was real and that she at least cared a little bit and because he was absolutely in love with her handwriting and her in general and wanted to capture this moment.
His happiness, however, faded when suddenly a woman's voice appeared in his head, "Dammit, why can't he just give me a straight answer? I just wanted to know so I could stop worrying and go back to ignoring him forever, why must he be so damn difficult? Just answer you jerk, so I can put my mind at rest and we can go back to never speaking," His heart fell and shattered on this cold truth, that she wanted nothing to do with him. He knew it was her voice, it was the only thing that made sense, but suddenly he didn't want to know what her voice sounded like, he didn't want to know that her voice was one of the most wonderful things he'd ever heard, because the words it delivered were not. It hurt to be told by your soulmate, in your first interaction and the first time you've ever heard their voice, that they'd rather not have anything to do with you...ever.
"Well then I’m never going to answer cause I don’t want you to avoid me anymore," He responded bitterly in his mind and only slightly hoping that she would hear his response because he was highly upset with her.
"Please, just answer me, it’s driving me up the wall," Her voice said in response, meaning she'd heard his words. Her voice sounded exasperated which only infuriated him further. How dare she ignore him like this and get his hopes up by finally reaching out to him in the most insincere manner he'd ever heard.
"No, if it keeps you talking to me you’ll never know," He responded quite literally physically sticking his tongue out though there was no one in the room with him and then mentally chiding himself for his dumb behavior and silently questioning whether or not his soulmate was supposed to bring out the most immature parts of him or if this was a bad sign?
"So mature," she scoffed distracting him from his rambling thoughts about all of this and this odd situation he'd gotten caught up in. "Fine, don't tell me," She added a moment later and he sighed upset with the fact that he'd upset her, though he wasn't sure why because she'd upset him first. Maybe it was just because he was hardcore in love with her and this whole conversation hadn't changed that because her voice was amazing and he wasn't about to base his entire view of his soulmate around one conversation.
He had wanted to reply but was interrupted by a slurred voice from the hallway, "What are you doing?" his mother asked in her drunken voice and he sighed.
"Sorry mom, just working on homework, I'll come to make dinner now," He responded standing up and started to leave the room forgetting about his short sleeves and the black ink on his arm until she caught his wrist as he was walking past. He knew what was coming as soon as her hand closed around his arm and couldn't help but think "Well, tonight is the night I die..." he frowned as his mom pulled his arm closer to her eyes so she could read what was written. He prayed that his soulmate hadn't heard this last comment in his head, he didn't want to worry her more than she already was, even if she didn't particularly like him.
"Oh, so you're talking to her now?" His mother said with a dark tone her eyes darkening with rage as she took another swallow from the bottle in her hands. "I guess I didn't teach you well enough that only pain comes from soulmates," She said and dragged him towards the kitchen.
It was an hour after she finally stopped that he regained the ability to move and so he carefully struggled to stand up and then walked, or more like stumbled, towards the back door. Eventually, he made it through the door and collapsed against the back wall of the house. He stared up at the moon and smiled lightly. "I finally talked to her today," He said softly able to ignore the pain as he talked to the moon about the woman whose voice was in his head and words were on his skin. "I don't think she likes me very much, but I think it's just fear, these days there are so many stories about soulmates going bad and even if there weren't it wouldn't be too hard to get worried about this whole fated to be with someone. I think she's scared, but I'll keep loving her anyway," He said staring up at his friend the moon. "She reminds me of you, distant, cold, beautiful, loving, she's probably a great listener too, just like you. Plus, she's hiding a side of her, just like you," He added a soft smile lingering on his lips as he drifted to sleep in his backyard.
When morning came he didn't want to open his eyes, he wanted the night to return, so he could go back to the time when he spoke to the moon and had no worries other than his soulmate and whether or not she loved him. As soon as he saw the sun in the sky his hands started to shake and tears began to stream down his face. He could no longer hide from what had happened not in the glaring and garish light of day. The moon had always been gentle and kind, alluring in that it offered peace and hope in the darkness, but the sun had always been harsh and unforgiving it watched everything and stood distant with no quiet solace like the moon, but instead with the knowledge that you could never have it never reach it. It was distant and harsh and thought it knew all his secrets. The sun was no friend just a harsh critic who thought they understood him.
In the light of day he could not ignore the harsh bruises and the deep pain that he felt and had, he could not run to a quiet friend who would listen and comfort him instead he had to face the truth. A harsh and burning reality that his mom had beat him...again. That this was slowly turning into a habit of hers. The first time she'd beaten him had been the night when he'd been cooking dinner just a few days ago, this was only the second time and he didn't know how to handle it. He was scared and hurt and unsure and so his hands shook violently, his breathing became ragged, and his body was racked by the sobs that coursed through him each violent tremor of his body hurting him more and more. He had never been more thankful of the entirely superficial nature of his bond to his soulmate, that the pain would only carry skin deep. She wouldn't feel most of it and it made him glad that she was safe from this but that wasn't enough to calm his terror and soothe his agony.
He started to ramble unable to stop words from pouring out of his mouth like water dripping through fingers. "Please, please, please, please," He repeated over and over again unaware of who he was pleading to or what he was pleading for only aware that something was wrong, nothing was right.
Then he heard her voice "My favorite was, 'I’ll hold you in my arms and fly, We’ll fly towards the blue moon’ that was my favorite one of his little writings" and the thought of the moon and of her calmed him just enough to stop the muttering, remembering the image he'd drawn on his skin, the delicate blue moon and small blue stars framing carefully done words caused the tears to stop. He could remember sitting in class bored out of his mind as his math teacher droned on and on about something or other that he knew he should've been listening to. He remembered the gentle thought of just wanting to fly away, to soar out into nothingness away from the dismal, dreary, darkness of everyday life and enter a place far beyond. He remembered picking up the black pen and staring down at his skin and remembering his soulmate and the words coming to him then and there as he thought of his soulmate and flight and a better life. It was these memories that stopped the tears, not her voice, not the words she had said but memories of safety, memories of a time when all he had felt was love and peace and hope.
Once he stopped crying he stood shakily and he walked carefully to the side of his house where the fence gate stood and exited the backyard and turning right to go to his neighbor's house. He was still quivering and shaking as he reached his fist up towards the wooden door before him. He knocked lightly on the door and was thrilled when the youngest and only daughter of the household opened the door. "Oh, thank goodness, you're just who I needed to see," He said startling the girl slightly, he only ever came over to see her older brother.
"Why?" She asked staring at him like he was a madman very startled by his shakiness and the redness of his eyes. She knew something was wrong and had no clue why he would be looking for her in his moment of need.
"I need to borrow some makeup to cover some bruises before my soulmate sees them," He responded quickly and she nodded with a slight frown before beckoning him inside and leading him to her room, she didn't know how he'd got the bruises and didn't want to ask if it had anything to do with his haggard and shaken appearance. He looked like a leaf in the fall that had fallen to the ground and been trampled on one too many times and she didn't want to know what had caused such a bright boy to collapse like this.
"Do you need help with it?" She asked carefully as she handed him the makeup he'd need, watching him with a keen eye as he shook.
"No, I'll be ok, thanks though," He responded with a soft smile and she nodded watching him leave and undoubtedly enter her brother's room to get help from the older male.
She knew she was right when she heard her brother's voice "Are you sure you don't need help?" and then the quivering voice that answered him.
"Please," Was his answer in a shattered voice, but she knew she'd be no help and went back downstairs to watch whatever was on.
His hands were still shaking by the time the two of them had gotten the makeup to cover all the dark bruises that ran from his collarbone down to his waist. So his friend began to talk.
"Do you want to stay here for a couple of days?" His older friend asked carefully.
"No, my mom needs me, she won't eat if I'm not there and she doesn't mean it she's just hurting, it's worse lately because their anniversary is this month," He replied shaking his head softly, "But thanks for the offer," He added a moment later smiling timidly up at the older male, someone he'd come to see as an older brother.
"Let's go downstairs and get some breakfast," The older male said gently, extending his hand to help the younger boy up and then carefully guiding him down the stairs to the kitchen. They fixed up two bowls of cereal and chatted happily as friends do.
Not too long after breakfast, he ended up sprawled out on their living room couch while the two siblings bickered about what show to watch. He studied his hands carefully every now and then silently checking on whether or not they'd stopped shaking while his thoughts wandered to his soulmate and what she was doing. He wondered if she was awake yet or if she'd been awake longer than him, entirely unaware that she was talking to her brother about him.
Once his hands stopped shaking he couldn't help but think of her and the gentle words that had led to the memories and his ability to stop crying and so he made the decision then and there that today he was going to make her feel beautiful again. Today he needed the reminder more than ever that pain was made worthwhile by beauty. That even when the world burns and you stand in the center of the flames there is still something beautiful about that moment. At that moment he understood the allure of the sun, the bright golden rays, the warmth, the exhilaration of life brought by its fiery heat. So he reached over to the table nearby where he'd seen pens earlier and began to decorate his skin.
His friends watched him with warm smiles on their face as they realized he was doing fine once more, he hadn't lost that hopeful spark that the world was beautiful. They watched him as he carefully drew and wrote on his skin until suddenly he looked up at them with a mischevious glint in his eyes. "I need a favor," He said as he capped the pen and finished his last drawing upon his skin. "Will one of you write something across my collarbone?" He questioned with an innocent look on his face, a too innocent look on his face like a child trying to hide that they'd broken something.
"Fine," the other male responded coming over to kneel in front of the now art covered male. "Only because it might help me meet my soulmate," He responded before grumbling about something under his breath.
"You really think that writing on him is going to help?" His sister questioned wheezing with laughter at her older brothers thought process.
"Hey, all I know is the first time I meet my soulmate he's gonna yell 'Where have I seen your handwriting before?' if it just so happens that he sees it because I agreed to do this then that's great, I'm just trying to get my handwriting out in more places so I can meet the love of my life whoever that is," He responded rolling his eyes at his sister.
"Ok, I want you to write 'I’m tired of their stories let’s write our own,' across my collarbone," He directed pointing where he wanted it with his hand. The older male nodded and got to work writing it as carefully as he could. "Ok, now underneath that in smaller handwriting, write 'I’m getting this tattooed somewhere on me, eventually, so you can never forget if you want a say in where have someone write the answer on the back of your neck or something." He directed a moment later.
"Wait, what?" the older male said pausing as he wrote when he realized the younger boy was telling them all he was planning on getting a tattoo.
"You heard me, now write, old man," the younger boy directed a tad bit impatiently and the older man followed his directions and concluded writing the sentence. The three of them waited patiently in anticipation for an answer and were surprised to see it arriving on his right arm. "Well now I know she's right-handed," the younger boy said as the writing appeared in a different handwriting than the earlier 'are you ok?'. Then the older male began to read the answer aloud.
"I will accept this tattoo in one of three places, exactly where it is now, across the top of my back, or as a tramp stamp," He read not quite realizing what he'd said for a moment and this his face blanched slightly while his sister burst out laughing and the younger male blushed and hid his face in his hands.
"She's perfect," He muttered softly into his hands hiding the embarrassment and the absolutely giddy smile on his face. He rocked back and forth slightly nearly squealing...again.
"Only you would get this excited over the fact that your soulmate just suggested she get a tramp stamp," spoke the only girl in the room through fits of laughter.
"At this point, I'm pretty sure he'd think she was perfect no matter what she'd said unless it was ‘ew! No don't get a tattoo!’" replied the older male finally recomposing himself.
"I think you're right," replied his sister laughing once more about the boy who was absolutely giddy and rolling on the floor about his soulmate. "Oh wait, there's more writing showing up," She added a moment later and then began to read it aloud, "Whose handwriting is this on my sister's chest?"
"Ok, quick we've got to answer her, step one tell her I'm leaving it where it is but I may consider the tramp stamp idea and then answer that other question however you see fit," Spoke the younger boy finally collecting himself. The older man wrote quickly and that was the last communication between the two that day.
He spent most of the day with his older friend and his sister talking about his soulmate and their soulmates, his friend's sister had already found her soulmate so she spent most of the time just hyping them up with the idea of having a soulmate and getting them excited for the possibilities while the two boys made comments about what they thought their soulmates would be like. Whether they'd be tall or short and how they'd end up first meeting them.
Eventually, though he returned home and made his mother dinner before sneaking off into his room to sleep the night away, excited for the days to come and the future they could possibly hold, a future where he might meet the woman who had told him she wouldn't mind a tramp stamp.
(Still not my gif, credit to the owner/creator, cause I love it it’s super cute)

~~~~~~BONUS FOR THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY MADE IT THIS FAR Y’ALL ARE WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS~~~~~~
“I want you to think very carefully about your answer to this next question,” She said as she glared at her brother who sat across from her. “Your answer will determine your fate, so be careful,” She added her eyes cold and focused on him.
“I only speak the truth,” He replied his steely gaze matching her glare neither one about to back down. “Now ask away,” He added and gazed carefully at the situation, this next chain of events could likely spell victory for her and that could not be allowed to happen, not with what lay on the line.
“Taeyong, do you,” She began her voice low and intimidating as she kept her eyes carefully transfixed on him, “Do you have any eights?” She questioned keeping her face devoid of emotion other than fierce competitiveness and utter intimidation.
“Go fish,” Taeyong responded and watched patiently as she drew from the pile if she drew an eight the game was effectively over, but if she didn’t he would be the winner, he knew all her other cards and had at least one of each of them, except for the eight, if she’d guessed any other card her victory would have been assured, with only four cards left in the draw pile, three of which were eights, the other the missing five, the odds were highly stacked in her favor but with a little luck he could still triumph. He watched her carefully, his face still as she glanced at the card. She tried desperately to keep up the cool and collected act but he saw her eyes twitch slightly and a smirk grew on his face. She deposited the card into her hand and he immediately started asking for her cards each one getting delivered up to him creating match after match. He had won. “I look forward to breakfast tomorrow, make something good,” He said with a smirk as he piled the cards back together to clean them up.
“Shut up, we both know I’m the better cook,” She replied sticking her tongue out at her brother.
“So mature my dear sister, so very mature,” He replied standing up. “Have fun waking up early to make it, I’ll be sleeping in,” He added as he walked away. She stuck her tongue out at his retreating back.
“I’ll be sleeping in,” She mocked in an odd voice as she grumbled to herself and started her own trek to her room. Looks like she was on breakfast duty in the morning. This was the fourth day in a row, she was starting to think she might just be really bad at Go Fish...
The Sun and the Moon He Loved
~The Sun and the Moon He Loved~NCT!Soulmate AU
Parts-->Part 1(conveniently you are here)//Part 1.5/Thanksgiving Special// Part 2// Part 2.5// Part 3
A/N Apparently I’ve had another idea that no one will probably read, but here it is anyways. The start of yet another series because I can’t do anything simply also because it was getting pretty long and so I needed to split it up. Let me know if you like it or hate it!
Description: He was the sun and she was the moon and they were soulmates. Which was both a blessing and a curse. She needed his light and warmth and he needed her to reflect it back to him, but they were ever so distant, both unable to truly reach each other. He reached out for her every way he could, but only in his darkest moments could she ever be found.
Genre: I’m not even really sure it’s a bit angsty, bit fluffy, mostly angst I think correct me if I’m wrong I really can’t tell.
Warnings: alcohol and death, slight mentions of abuse, mentions of tattoos (let me know if there’s anything else)
Word Count: 3411 words
(Not my gif, credit to owner also bolded words from here on out are written and italicized words are thought)
Love was poison, everyone she'd ever held in high regard had told her as much. Soulmates weren't worth it, love was tainted by the devil, and everything she'd been told about always being happy and loving them forever was based on lies or were lies entirely. The only truth about love in her life was that she loved nature, loved staring up at the sky, feeling the sun, laying in the grass, counting the stars, watching the birds, and talking to the moon.
Her mother and father had been soulmates but that hadn't saved their relationship, it had only made the collapse more tragic. Her sister had found her soulmate but that hadn't stopped him from abandoning her at a subway station on their honeymoon never to be seen again. Her older brother had found his soulmate but that didn't mean anything when she was killed when the convenience store she'd been shopping in had gotten held up. Her other brother hadn't found his soulmate but the girl he loved had found her soulmate in his roommate. Her mother threw herself off a building in front of their eyes all the while cursing love and soulmates who broke your heart and left you stranded in nothing but a shallow grave because love and being fated weren't enough. Her father didn't look back when he left them not even when the social workers called him and told him their mother had died. Her aunt swore every night and threw empty beer bottles at them all the while yelling about how being his soulmate had never meant anything because he'd still run off with the girl from the circus who could bend in half and play the violin like an angel. She cursed because she'd given up the one love she could've had for the one she was told was right and now she was alone raising four kids that weren't hers and dying of alcohol poisoning.
It was safe to say that she didn't want a soulmate and didn't want to be loved or to love and yet she so desperately wanted what her best friend had that tender kindness between two people. She'd never had anything like that and maybe she was just touch starved but her heart ached all day every day and it didn't help that evidence of her soulmate's life littered her skin. Little things that taunted her and made her want to love him, no matter how much she hated the idea and how much she cursed the existence of soulmates. Unlike her sister who couldn't see color until she found her soulmate, unlike her mother who's soulmate's name, was branded into the skin on her wrist, unlike her brother with a whole sentence, or her other brother who was still stuck once more at 21, or her aunt whose eyes matched the color of her soulmate's hair, her connection to her soulmate was through skin, everything she did to her skin showed up on his and vice versa and apparently her soulmate was an artist or someone who got bored very often and frequently had a pen lying around. Either way, her arm was often littered with little words and drawings, sometimes her soulmate tried to talk to her, soft little questions about what she was doing or if she'd eaten, and it made her want to love him, but then her aunt would walk into the room waving a bottle around and cursing her soulmate to the highest heavens and the deepest hells. So she'd sigh and never respond and the ink on her arm would disappear in the night and by the end of the day she'd be covered again, but only ever in places easily hidden by long sleeves and a little bit of attentiveness. She always wondered why until she heard an unfamiliar male voice in her head.
"Shit, mom's drunk again," Came the voice in her head and she nearly fell out of bed. She knew this was yet another connection to her soulmate, a recent development, but it could only be his voice. She wondered why she now had two connections and her only reasoning was that perhaps in its desperation to get the two of them to talk the universe had given her a second connection to her soul mate, a desperate attempt to force her to love someone who would likely only hurt her. She heard no more and chalked it up as going crazy until she woke up that morning with a few new bruises on her abdomen and around her arm in the shape of a feminine hand, a few cuts where nails had dug into the skin and drawn warm red blood. No ink appeared on her arm that day and she couldn't help but miss it, couldn't help but miss the way her arm used to be beautiful and was now simply blank, empty, and bland like a field once full of flowers now simply dirt. She didn't worry though until a few days later when there still wasn't any ink and only a paper cut and a minor bruise probably from accidentally running into a wall or something. So she grabbed a pen and stared down at her blank arm and sighed and gave in for the first time in her life she wrote to her soulmate.
He was shocked when he found the stain of black ink on his arm, he cursed slightly and yelled at himself for somehow slipping up today, but when he thought back on the day he realized he'd stopped carrying pens in the first place to avoid this, so he checked his doorway carefully and pulled down his sleeve and stared in wonder at the unfamiliar handwriting on his arm.
"Are you ok?" It asked in dark black ink, a sudden stain of hope, and he couldn't stop the next thoughts in his head.
"She's real! Oh my goodness! She's real! She exists! What do I do?" He rambled in his head and for some reason, she heard it too and she couldn't help but find it endearing for a split second until her brother walked in yelling about how she should just live with them forever because if she never left the house she'd never face heartbreak from her soulmate and she wouldn't have to walk down the street and see all the couples still happy and know that you had that once and should have had that forever. Then she remembered just how bad it could be at least for the split second before ink appeared on her skin in his ever familiar handwriting. The familiar handwriting that had never been anything less than kind and beautiful.
"I will be," was the simple phrase now staining her arm and she frowned. That wasn't a real answer. She sighed and cursed him out in her head for not being more straightforward so she could stop worrying and go back to avoiding him. She was entirely unaware that for whatever reason he had heard these thoughts and entirely unaware that his heart had shattered at her words like an old vase tumbling from a precarious ledge and meeting cold, hard tile.
"Well then I'm never going to answer cause I don't want you to avoid me anymore," He thought in response at the harsh and angry and very hurting words from the new voice in his head. His voice came crashing into her head in a salty sea of absolute pettiness and washed over her leaving the distinct taste of salt lingering all over her mouth, for a moment her thoughts wandered to the beach, her wonderful escape from all things horrendous and she calmed until she remembered that the salt in her mouth was from the mind of a rather upset boy.
"Please, just answer me, it's driving me up the wall," She sighed in her mind almost pleading him to answer her, but pleading the way a mother does with her unruly son who she was too tired to deal with at the moment. It was not based on love or true worry, but more founded on frustration and tiredness.
"No, if it keeps you talking to me you'll never know," Came the response, she could practically see someone sticking their tongue out at her although the face was obscure and unknown.
"So mature," She scoffed slightly this one slipping from her mouth and into the open and still air of her bedroom. "Fine don't tell me," She thought back with a sneer and from there all she received was silence for a brief moment until his voice returned with a comment either entirely unrelated or highly overdramatic.
"Well, tonight is the night I die..." Came his voice and then there really was silence, she only began to worry after half an hour had passed and no sign of life came from him. She waited a couple more hours until sleep took her without a second thought or a pause to consider how worried she really was for the boy she barely knew. For the moon was shining brightly outside her room and as always it comforted her.
The next morning came quickly and the Saturday began with the sun, a false pretense for happiness that slid it's lazy fingers across her cheeks beckoning her to arise and greet the day. She always thought the sun was like her soulmate a distant thought that she could never hold, but one that came and went and appeared and disappeared anyways. This morning though she was greeted by someone other than the sun. A body collapsed onto the bed beside her and woke her with a sorrow filled sigh.
"Tell me about your soulmate?" Her brother asked, she knew why he asked, of her siblings he was the only one who hadn't found his and lost them, he'd found someone and lost them to their soulmate, he questioned daily whether he should go and look for his soulmate or live on like his siblings bitter and without love.
"I barely know him," She replied with a sigh and sat up in her bed beside her brother.
"Tell me what you do know," her brother said throwing his arm around her shoulder.
"Okay," She replied and thought carefully about where to even start, "It's a boy and I don't know his name, but I do know that he wants to find me, he's not disenchanted about this whole soulmate thing like I am," She began and her mind replayed their conversation last night, "He's clever and at least a little bit salty and a little immature,"
"Huh, he is perfect for you," Her brother interrupted softly with a deep chuckle.
"Shut up, Tae," She responded elbowing her brother and smiling up at him.
"Ok, ok, tell me more about this salty child," Her brother responded smiling back at her.
"He plays things off like he doesn't want people to see something, but I don't know what it is, just that he hides something behind this cool mask, not necessarily a perfect one, he doesn't care if people don't think he's perfect, there's just something he doesn't want anyone to see," She continued thinking back to his quick I will be he hadn't told her yes or no or given an excuse he just hid the truth a little bit.
"I thought you said you don't really know him?" Her brother asked and she shrugged.
"I don't, I have no idea what he looks like or what his name is or where he's from or anything like that," She responded and then he nudged her to keep going, "He's artistic or he gets bored a lot, cause he was always drawing on his arm before, I don't think his mom likes it though cause he's stopped recently," She continued and thought back to all the ink that used to stain her skin, to the vines and roses that used to creep up her arms and the words in between them, the bright yellow sunflowers, and the little poems he wrote her "He thinks about me a lot, he used to always ask if I'd eaten and how I was doing, he's patient and optimistic, I never replied but he kept asking, he likes flowery language and poetic phrases and sentences," She continued thinking back to the quotes and phrases on her skin, her favorite had been 'I'll hold you in my arms and fly, We'll fly towards the blue moon' which had been accompanied by three stars and a blue crescent moon drawn on her wrist and slowly but surely over the course of the day it had become surrounded by blue roses on green vines snaking down her arm to her elbow. "I think he loves me and he doesn't even know me, he fell in love with an idea, so he's innocent and maybe a little naive or maybe just too hopeful and good for a world that stains things with blood and darkness. I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but I've always thought he was something like the sun, beautiful and wonderful and great from a distance when it wakes me in the morning with warm rays and cradles me in the afternoon when I lay in its embrace, but if I get too close I'll get sucked in and burned alive and yes I'll go up in a fiery blaze and it will likely be beautiful, but even a beautiful death is still death and it'll be over too soon to appreciate it," She concluded reaching her hand out and clasping her brothers in her grasp. "I'll always love the sun, but I'll never be able to have it," She added a moment later holding her brother's hand and obscuring his view of the sentence wrapped around his wrist and he sighed staring down at the girl wise and broken beyond her years by all the things that had filled her ears and blinded her eyes.
"What do you think he looks like?" Her brother asked still not done with the conversation and she knew it was because he wanted to find his soulmate but didn't think they were out there, didn't think it was possible, didn't think he'd have that kind of luck when everyone else in his family had only suffered at the hands of this supposed soulmate.
"Like everything I've loved and everything I've hated all wrapped up into one," She said with a sigh and he smiled at her sad poetic description, it was when she'd brought up that her soulmate wrote poetry and quotes on his arm that her brother had known whoever this kid was he truly was perfect for his little sister, the girl in love with art and yet so afraid of it, like she was terrified to believe the world could be beautiful. "He probably has soft hair like the blankets on my bed always comforting but never enough, he probably dyes it every now and then because he loves to add color to things and maybe one time it was pink like a strawberry smoothie that tastes good but doesn't satisfy, since we know he's like the sun he probably has a smile like the sun, and dark eyes that sparkle like stars distant and cold but still beautiful, he probably looks like an angel but I'd be remiss to not mention that Elvis would probably give the best description of him, a devil in disguise," She finished and then stood up and took her brother with her to go make breakfast.
Meanwhile, her soulmate had finally stopped his hands from shaking so violently that he couldn't hold anything and had successfully covered the bruises on his stomach and chest and thighs with makeup he'd borrowed from a friends sister. He'd only stopped crying when he'd heard her voice in his head again, but this time it wasn't like she was talking to him it seemed instead like she was just thinking of something and remembering it, it was a quick internal comment "My favorite was, 'I'll hold you in my arms and fly, We'll fly towards the blue moon' that was my favorite one of his little writings" she said and he could see it now, what he'd drawn on his arm, the stars and the crescent moon and the roses. He'd stopped crying then, but it was only now that he'd finally calmed the rest of the way down. Once he did he couldn't help but think of her and try to imagine her and now that he could hold a pencil he made a decision and grabbed a couple nearby pens and stared down at his arm and then began by putting the tip of one down on his skin and once he'd started he didn't stop until his arm was covered but even then he didn't stop.
Her brother was sitting in the kitchen watching her cook half amused and the other half just mulling over everything she'd said until he noticed it the ink slowly but surely appearing on her arm. He watched mesmerized by the slowly forming picture and the words written in it until suddenly it stopped, likely because her arm was covered, but when she finally emerged from behind the counter he saw her right leg from the ankle up to her knees was completely covered and half of the same area on her left leg was receiving similar treatment. Most surprising though came when they were eating and all the sudden right on her clavicle there appeared words in careful handwriting but it was different than the handwriting on the rest of her, but this was likely because he couldn't honestly write this on himself. There right across her clavicle in silver ink was "I'm tired of their stories let's write our own," and then carefully in smaller writing below it was a little message, "I'm getting this tattooed somewhere on me, eventually, so you can never forget if you want a say in where have someone write the answer on the back of your neck or something."
"You might want to answer him about that one," Her brother said suddenly causing her to get confused.
"What?" She questioned and he snapped a quick photo before handing it over to her so she could see, "Ok, quick before he goes and does it write back that I'll accept it in one of three places, a tramp stamp, across the top of my back, or exactly where it is right now," She ordered handing her brother a pen and giving him her right arm that was luckily undecorated due to her soulmate being right handed.
"A tramp stamp really?" Her brother questioned as he wrote it down on her skin.
"Yep," She responded with a smug look on her face "Also ask him who's handwriting is on my chest," She added and her brother nodded.
"He's answering," Her brother said a moment later and she watched the words appear.
"I'm leaving it where it is then, but I might leave the tramp stamp up for consideration, in answer to the other question it's my neighbor who refuses to give his name, says you can't know it until we've actually shared names" came the answer across her skin she shrugged and went along with it.
There was no more communication between them that day other than her taking the time to actually look over the new drawings decorating her skin, each of them framing a quote or poem on her skin. Across her right leg were the words "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter—to-morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther. . . . And one fine morning——" and surrounding it was a somehow shimmering green color and a dark ocean shimmering with moonlight. On her arm were the words "A sky full of stars and he was staring at her," and it was surrounded by stars and a crescent moon in every corner with blue roses creeping in around the edges and wherever there was blank space. Finally, on her left leg were the delicate words "In case you ever foolishly forget: I am never not thinking of you." Surrounded in sunflowers and roses and berries.
