Update on like, everything

I haven’t been on here in a long time so I figured I should do a lil update!

I’m no longer making comics because they just take too much from me, mentally and physically.

I still have my Patreon, where my (music) YouTube videos are posted a week early (usually more because I forget to make them public, whoops) and I post a pattern and/or tutorial every month. I don’t have too many patterns or tutorials on there yet because I didn’t have patrons and I didn’t feel the need to keep promises to no one, but now I have one (1 lol) so I have the motivation I need to stay on schedule. I have a couple patterns posted so far, and right now I’m working on the pattern for cat ears for Halloween!

I now have two more YouTube channels, one for gamedev and one for crafting, 3dprinting, and other “making.” The latter has no videos currently, but I have some planned for both. I’ll also be using the latter for patron-only knitting tutorials (posted unlisted, of course), mostly just to separate it from my music.

I also have a (currently no patrons and not very active) Patreon meant to support my gamedev. That one is really only for people who are interested in the games that I make, although I may also post some more nerdy YT videos (from both new channels) early access on there.

I’m not really tending to my store right now, because I need to find some legal information. Once I do, I might post some new products on there (and maybe start an Etsy), because I just got a 3d printer and have loads of ideas for products that will be easier for me to make--I love knitting, and I’m good at it, and I know that I can make good products with it, but ya boy has bad joints and I can’t do too much knitting too quickly, especially when I start school again (not for time reasons really, but because I’ll be taking notes in class and that’s the #1 worst thing for my wrists, which makes everything that usually only hurts a little bit either hurt like hell or just plain impossible). Basically, 3d printers are just a really empowering thing for disabled creators to have because we can use so many more creative thoughts with so much less physical (or occasionally mental) strain. I wish it had been accessible to me earlier.

I realized I haven't posted on here in a while, so here are some coasters I've made for birthdays recently! I'm especially proud of the plaid one! I'll be posting patterns, as well as a tutorial for how to knit plaid, on my Patreon for anyone interested!

So here ya are, my first official comic! I'll probably redraw some of the other ones too, but if you want to see these a week early and in color, make sure to pledge to my Patreon!

As much as I like to complain, it's more capitalism in general that I don't like, as well as rude customers. If I have to work any low-level job, I'd want to work where I do. My bosses actually see me as and treat me like a human (gasp) and are really nice to me and my coworkers.

Rebranding!

So I’ve realized that not only do my hats sell better than the other merch in my store so far, but they have more of my personality and talent in them. A lot of the designs I’ve put up on my store haven’t really felt like my best work, and some I just put up to get as many prodcts as possible to sell. I’ve realized that this doesn’t really seem like a good business plan and I don’t have much control over my prices and what I sell, so I’ve decided to focus more on products that I create myself. I may keep some printed designs that I’m proud of for sale in the store, but I’m starting to get rid of things. If you want to see what I’ll be getting rid of next Tuesday (I’ll be adding items to the list on Wednesdays excluding February 20th because I already added them on Monday the 18th), check out my Last Chance collection!

I added a simplified version of the lesbian flag with 5 stripes to the options for the pride beanies! If you want the 7-stripe version or a different lesbian flag, you can commission me but I’ll have to get more yarn (at least for the first one) so it will cost more. Most of these are only $7.50 right now though! But the flags with purple are temporarily $10 because I need to buy more purple yarn and I can’t absorb the cost of it while they’re on sale.

Half off knit beanies!

The beanies I sell in my store were originally $15 which is already pretty cheap considering they’re skillfully (if I do say so myself) hand-knit, but for the next 10 customers, they’re only $7.50! Beanies not in my store are also half off if you commission them from me, but if I need to buy more yarn it will still be $2.50 for every new skein I need to buy.

Emergency commissions/donations

Hey so yk how i said if I get 3 commissions this month I’m set? I was wrong! Turns out my homework in Chem, on a program that costs over $100, is 30% of my grade! And a C- doesn’t pass the class! Also, not all of my financial aid came in, so I owe $100 for that as well!

So if you want to help me with this right now, you can commission art or something knit (message me), buy something from my store (link in bio and below) or just send me a bit of money on paypal (link below). If you’d rather help me prevent it in the future, you can always become a patron (link below) and it will start charging you at the beginning of the month.

Note: I’m waiting to hear when my interview will be with the dining hall, so hopefully things like this wont be an issue for much longer, but your help would still go a long way!

Beanies!

So I got a Michael’s gift card for Christmas and bought a bunch of yarn so now I have enough colors to sell all of the beanies on my shop for only $15! Considering how much people have paid for factory or machine made beanies, I’d say that’s a pretty good deal for a handknit beanie! I wasn’t able to afford enough pinks for the lesbian flag yet (but I do now have 4 out of 7 colors!), but if anyone wants to commission me for one I can buy more yarn and put that up as well! It may have to be more expensive, though, because some of the colors for it will be more expensive and come in smaller amounts. Currently I have the rainbow, bi, pan, trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, ace, aro, and agender flags up in my shop!

Update

So I don't really make comics anymore and my Patreon is being changed to support my music and my knitting instead, so I'm going to change the name of this blog (formerly raphaelmorgancomics) to either raphaelmorganmusic or raphaelmorgancrafts. I'll keep up any comics I already have on here, but I probably will not make more. Any that I do will be posted here, along with knitting and music.
